only to have my AS interupted because the damn headless chicken npcs that run thru the bank push me out the way.
[/ QUOTE ] hmmm.....
Castle, is there any way to bring these NPCS's to the PvP zones?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. If I could beat the living [censored] out of these NPC's, I'd hop on my bike right now, ride through almost a foot of snow while it's 10 degrees with windchill to the game store, and buy CoV tonight. -

Hobo, please do not remind me about how pitifull my damage is in PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why do you shout at me when I suggest Defenders need more damage output then?
[/ QUOTE ]
...Cuz then corruptors wouldn't have anyone to Own in PvP -
Not syaing you would, but Try not to Overwhelm _Castle_, guys. There's a litteral [censored]-storm going on with Stalkers right now and he has to wade through it until some of the frustration those other AT's are feeling is quelled. As defenders, we should be used to being on the backburner by now. And he was already looking into a number of Defender issues in Nov so try not to bring up a lot of things that may be redundant.

The goal of the game is to make sure there isn't an ideal team composition.
[/ QUOTE ]
Substitute "Mandatory" for "Ideal" there and he's right. Otherwise, when Defenders/Controllers are present:
-1 Tanker is cumbersome, 2 is redundant
-Pulling reduces the chances of facing multiple groups at once (but Tanks always rush in)
-Scrappers and Controllers can do more Damage while handling +3 mobs.
-Brutes are a lot more fun for ppl who want the "comic book" Tank.
-Tankers lose toggles too easily in PvP and can't see 2xS Stalkers, thus can't protect their Squishies
And personally speaking... a majority of the larger teams I've been on lately had no Tanker (because we couldn't find any) and we haven't really noticed their abscence either. -
Can't you guys stop fighting long enough to atleast thank the Devs for giving us this information before it becomes a major issue that normal people could really fight about? Or are you tracking mud around the Dev's response just to spite them?

Wow... Look at her palm that shaft.
Bet she comes in "handy" ...except for the whole sucking-the-life-essence-out part afterwards -

Hehe... but you guys are supposed to be evil! Get back to your stereotypes!

Yeah! Be a good Dev and get back in your Box like Pohsyb

Oh, and PWND!!!

Thank you Captain Obvious! -
Uhh... Warspawn. One of Cuppa's primary rules is not to "spread exploits", especially when they can still be done on the Live Servers. Don't make her get all Darkitty Dark Dark on you.
It's horrible what they did to this girl, but telling others may only spawn "copycat crimes" -
Notice that PoiOishi hasn't stepped back in to clarify? I'm calling shenannegins on this thread. But I agree with Castle, that WAS a nasty exploit. Sometimes I'd hang out near the BB and SiCal gates just to catch Stalkers doing it(If you think that "XX seconds to PvP" message would have spared you, Think again!). Lemme tell ya, some of them were quite the wiley lil sneaks almost turned the tables on me. But the same could be said for Heroes who exploited invisibility and teleportation powers to occupy areas they should not have been able to access either.
-
I umm... Used the stalker-playstyle quite extensively in Issue-4's Arenas... This was before Invisability power defenses got nerfed so I usually made a clean escape on my chosen build for such endeavors. And I dont believe we can look at this yet as an "Over-All" thing. We need to focus on the finest details only for now, it's too early to come to any major conclusions on balance.
But I really want to post to say that while Mieux's been the only user I've ever put on ignore here, I have to admit he's got some points on this one that nearly all of you are just writing off as if it's impossible for it to even happen. ...Or worse, if it was no longer allowed, then your whole AT would be devastated. You guys should know by now this is not a valid debating tactic. Devices and Regen was a 1-trick pony too at one time.
Dancing on both sides of the fence like many of you are, only wastes time, and may not even delay the innevitable. That's why I implore you to "police yourselves" and openly talk about areas where your Reward(DPS while adjacent to your Enemy) exceeds your Risk(Vulnerability while in a wider proximity of your enemies) and TEST out the other options you have that can ween you from the "1 trick pony" routine. If testing with hard numbers proves that those options fail to compensate for the loss of your primary tactic (Much like how Fast Healing, Integration, Resilience, and now Dull-Pain were all buffed), then the Devs will be much more likely to compensate you properly when they innevitably change things to ensure a broader use of powers.
You all know this happened to every other AT in some way. So prepare for it instead of attacking everyone who even suggests a need for changes.
(Disclaimer: Ilr DOES NOT see conclusive need for major changes yet, especially to 1-shotting which is the most thrilling part of facing stalkers in combat, and is instead going to quietly support Castle's conclusions until there is serious proof to do otherwise) -

I don't get this. Give pushback resistance to melee sets, when melee sets are the only folks that pushback powers are useful against. Why bother having pushback powers?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm guessing you've never been TP'd into a corner.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is the reason I'm advacating change to the actual "repel" physic. Powers that cause it, do infact take KB enhancers. So somewhere in there, there are ticks of Knock-back/down being made. I've seen it happen plenty of times.
Infact the repel physic is likely just a bunch of rapid ticks of knockback. So adding suppression to it in PvP should not be that difficult. It certainly makes more sense than giving a bunch of melee classes start-to-finish resistance the effect when the whole point of these powers are to keep melee users the hell away from your squishies. Especially you Stalkers, most of us "squishies" have to buy IR Goggles to stop you from killing us so easily, so you should have to buy Stun Grenades to stop our Storm users.
...Again, only fair trade off -
I agree that makes some sense. Infact I admit my Stormy has abused it. But why not trick the game engine into classifying it as Knock-Back and thus subject to Suppression instead? ...And protect all players from it? No one likes to be chain-Held in PvP

Two other sets got Teleport protection. Only EA got Repel protection.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think Castle might be saying that some of the other Stalker sets got -repel resistence but that they are missing from the patch notes.
[/ QUOTE ]
WHY? It's not Repel that most Stalkers are having trouble dealing with. Very few kineticists even take Repel. Did I mention that several Stalkers can AS straight through Repel as it is? I can see it making some concept-sense for Energy Aura which is also kinetic-themed. But Defenders have enough problems as it is in PvP, why pile this on too?
Oh, and that reminds me... This patch introduces:
"[*] Added Accuracy Enhancements to Smoke and Smoke Grenade powers for the Archetypes which have those powers."
Ok, yeehaw for the Blasters and Fire Doms/Controllers. So where's the ACC slotting for Repel Castle? It's well documented that it can miss in PvP and is not Auto-hit there. So when can we start slotting it for Accuracy? Please? I'm not trying to get up in anyone's grill here, this is just titfortat, common decency tradeoff. -

100% value = 80% base damage increase. 125% = 100% base damage increase.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm...
100%=80% and 125%=100%
Castle, do you always deal in fuzzy math?
Does this also mean that 125%=80%
[/ QUOTE ]
No, but it does mean that 0.999999999 is equal to 1. -
Bout damn time. ...Anyone who tried to rescue "ThunderHead" knows this has a lot less to do with Stalkers and more to do with SteamyMist

Uh....
Since when are players in PVP even remotely close to....
Having Elite Boss HP 24/7
Having Blaster level Melee attacks
Having Blaster level Ranged attacks with toggle dropping and status effects
[/ QUOTE ]
Well my Kin Defender sure the heck ain't, and he's only got 2 Blasts. But just with Tough, Repel, and Tactics, he's solo-defeated more Stalkers than have defeated him. I think that speaks volumes to any "melee" class that has no magnitude of resistance to Knockbacks of any kind. ...I can definintely tell you my Illusion Scraptroller and MA/DA Scrapper(who both play quite a bit like a Stalker) are always hating life when facing larger groups of Nemesis and Council simply because of the helplessness of being knocked around (and that's without toggle dropping issues). ...At that point it really doesn't matter how much damage you can do because you can't focus a real attack-chain to save your life -
Wish we could give ya more than just a "Good Article!" since it's your B-day too, but we can't so go party hard for all of us and we won't nitpick this time incase you have a hangover

I'm sorry ... But uh ...
What are you ???
We've never seen one of you before ...
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure it's some kind of special person. I see them all the time in some Forums. ...well, except for the Defender forum, haven't seen one there in so long I'd have to do a search just to remember what it was like. -
[ QUOTE ]
Psst, Jonyu, could you have a word with the others about doing something to make Tanks work in PvP, too? I don't think any AT's entire PvP worth should be based upon a single power, in this case Taunt, do you?
[/ QUOTE ]
Apparently you've never had your squishy two-shotted by an SS/Inv running Rage and who knows what other team buffs. Well I have and it suprised the hell out of me. I spent the rest of the match hiding from that guy but he was everywhere. First time a tanker ever hunted me -
We're asking for this same exact thing in CoH too Lokana. It's probably easier for them to make such content for Villains, but Heroes could also seriously use some AT-Centered missions.
Defenders, and MM's could assist a Garrison of entrenched Longbow/Arachnos soldiers in a "Keep atleast XX men alive for XX minutes" base-style Onslaught. Controllers and Dominators could assist some bounty hunters pursuing runners/fugitives. Blasters and Corruptors could lead an assault team against large amounts of destructables. Brutes and Scrappers ... Well they do fine with the current content. Tankers and Stalkers could lead missions against just bosses while being supported by a couple of summonable LT's for backup(They'd have 3 to choose from--Nem Sniper, Crey Medic, or a CairnStone, but could only summon and have 2 of them out simultaneously). -
[ QUOTE ]
This is a great annoyance for my Blapper too - any chance to help out on that?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nearly all Blasters have access to a ranged Stun or Hold that will drop Hurricane. This gives Blappers a MASSIVE COLLOSAL advantage over all melee AT's when facing most kind of Storm users. I'm not ashamed to tell anyone My blapper in particular got the Tracer badge faster than any other build I've ever played. -
So let me get this straight.... This event isn't like the last couple PvP events.. We won't be fighting any PC characters, it will all be PvE, then right? Litterally the same deal as the Rikti Invasion, only with Longbow NPC's...
Bummer, I would have loved to have copied one of my level 30+ Heroes over and gone around Gankin lowbs... Heh... ..Heh Heh..., Okay yeah, that's probably why it's purely a PvE event ...Oh well. -

... BURN -
After further testing, I believe this End Discount is a nice initial gesture. ..But not enough.
I would really like the Devs to consider boosting the bases on all secondary-effects as well to make those effects more than just the Fluff they are right now. If a power has no secondary effect(s), then boost it's primary back up or have Geko & Manticore think up a secondary effect for it. The double-whammy from Issue5 combined with ED is really cutting into our Fun, and making many everyday encounters unthinkable, or just plain tedious.
