Quote:There's a rifle, pistol, claws (hand blades) and all swords option. (not sure if there's a mace or axe in there, sorry guys).I'm positive it's not Beam Rifle because his right hand is empty, and even if the image is reflected, it's not being held the way a Beam Rifle would be.
I'm nearly positive it's a Katana.
Moving forward, and ClockworkO1 can confirm this or correct me, all sword like objects will be built on the Titan Weapons measurements. This allows them to be easily scaled for use with all Sword types. -

I didn't say you're never getting it...it's just not what's coming with the Free for VIP costume set.

Quote:Well, we already have that to a degree with the customization options in the Arena.Man, that's an awesome quote right there.
Also, if I may, it might be more helpful to try and design some form of pvp where the players "build" the arena, either by customizing the area people fight in, or the rules, or the power balance (either by negating the effect of enhancements or outlawing inspirations or temps, or what have you). Sort of like a pvp architect. No idea where you'd start from or how you'd go about doing it, but I get the impression that if you approached pvp from the 'customization' side, it'd have a lot more appeal.
As to the other idea, we did something like that: Supergroup/Villaingroup bases. It almost melted the servers. -
Loud noises are a deterrent to repeat offenders.

Quote:I've worked with several very experienced PVP game designers who would give their eye-teeth for an answer to that question. In fact, it's the very fact that one of those types of blasters is more powerful in PvP (or the other is less powerful, depending on your point of view) that is part of the problem. That's an imbalance. It's that sort of problem that needs to be addressed.
Reality is, Paper, Rock, Scissors does not exist. It cannot exist in a world where there is a huge X Factor: Player Skill and ingenuity. -
And I'm hopeful that if we manage to get crossshard teaming implemented, that the PVP system would end up being low hanging fruit.

Quote:Masque is correct, to a degree.
Exactly where did you get this idea? All that I've read and studied about game design always stressed the importance of balance.
[citation_needed]
In a PVP centric game, you will never have absolute balance. Players, by nature, are very resourceful, and will always be discovering the next FOTM build that rules them all. It's the nature of things when you challenge your Community in a competitive environment.
MMORPG PVP, done correctly, is an enormous drain on resources. In order for it to be healthy and vibrant, you have to constantly nurture it, tend to it and occasionally trim it, all while it's screaming at you at the top of it's lungs about how the other person is more powerful than they are.
It's like a Bonsai, with the voice of Sam Kinison. -
This comes up in every game I've worked on. Anecdotal observation has shown me that, while benevolent in nature, updates such as this never go over well with the largest, and most vocal, segments of the Community.
There always has to be at least *some* new hotness. Now the thing of it is, revamping old content can often times count as *new* content, so it does pull double duty (I've yet to talk to someone who doesn't call Dark Astoria "new content".) Ideally, you can work it so that you're killing two birds with one stone.
Besides, the things you're talking about would likely take much more than a single issue of development time. -
Having worked on two PVP centric MMO's prior to COH, I understand this very well. This is why we continue to advocate for those who remain.

They have a chance to drop off of any Incarnate level mob. That would mean anything in DA/DA Missions (or future Incarnate Missions) and in any iTrial. No one spot is better than any other.

Quote:Note: not a specific date .Although, to be fair War Witch's address did tell us that Beast Matery would be out in March...
Quote:Agreed Big Z. We got wrapped up in seeing the set on test months ago and the snark just hit a fever pitch when April rolled around; we'll (or at least *I*) will try to tone it down in the future. -
I never said it wasn't coming in April.
- We confirmed, on Tuesday, that Staff Fighting was coming to the Paragon Market on the 17th (next Tuesday).
- We've not given a release date for any Powerset to be released via the Paragon Market beyond a weeks notice.
I do understand excitement, I do understand wanting to play a new Powerset. I've certainly taken some of the frustration expressed over the development cycle and passed it along to the interested parties.
At the same time, I need to address something.
We're seeing an awful lot of very, very snide remarks and personal attacks directed at marketing and business development. I know it's easy, and popular, to point fingers at "Evil Marketing", but this sentiment has been extremely over the top lately. As I've clarified before, Community does not equate to Marketing here at Paragon. That does not mean that we're not all working towards the same goal.
Just as I will step in and say something when comments are going over the top towards development, I am doing the same thing with Marketing. You are more than encouraged to be critical of our practices, and to express your feedback as such. What is not acceptable are the personal insults we've seen as of late. This needs to stop. Our Business Development/Marketing team has been very successful in their strategy behind the Paragon Market release calendar, so let's please give them the credit they deserve for doing their part to help keep City of Heroes strong and sustainable for the foreseeable future.
I will always do my absolute best to keep everyone appraised as to how soon items are coming to the market. This may be done either directly, or through tongue in cheek hints. Please reference the Snow Globe "Zwillinger Soon™ chart" (I'm sure someone will link to it).
Thanks guys, and let's get ready to hit things with sticks.

Re: Reminder to Keep All Areas Clean

CC: Facilities Maintenance
Team,
It has come to our attention through numerous anonymous complaints, filed by the third floor janitorial staff, that there has been a rapid increase in random debris found throughout the campus. This has proved problematic, as facilities and maintenance is not equipped to dispose of a 1985 Crown Victoria, let alone 3 of them, several rusted out dumpsters, lamps of varying makes and models and what appears to be a replica of something called the "Maltese Falcon". Also, we are not sure where the wireframed, 20 ft. globe came from, however we please ask that you return it to it's point of origin immediately.
Please kindly remember that you share this workspace with everyone around you. Your assistance in keeping our facilities beautiful (and sterile) is much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Human Resources -
Quote:It's pretty damned heavy. Great desk though, and very uncramped. That's an IKEA desk if I'm not mistaken. I had the same model desk from a few years ago when the legs were bolted on differently. During a recent IKEA trip, I noticed the same model desk but it had a different leg configuration like in Zwil's screenshot.
If I'm right, I can say with utmost confidence that the desk is without a doubt the heaviest piece of furniture I've ever lifted.
I particularly like the profile of it. -
