Bah. You know how tough I am, Phoen. :3 One week of hard work won't really put me out, though I'm a little grumpy that it's going to kill my gaming for the next couple of days while my body recovers from the beating I'm putting it through.
Outright trashed my wrists yesterday, and had trouble reaching anything near the bottom of my screen. Unfortunately.. that's where my chat bar and all of my attacks for my characters sit.
Thankfully, I don't have to do anything that wrist-destroying over the next few days (it was purely the sprayer that tore me up like that - the sheers I use for gardening require more full-arm motion, and I can do that all day long and while my shoulders/biceps will cry afterwards, I can still game somewhat.. Nothing high-end, though), just a lot of projects with a huge time/energy investment. Got a... I think it's two acre lot (it's really two lots that are on the same lease) that has a TON of trees and bushes (most of which need a trim), and thus a lot of invasive things like ivy and other thick vines that need to be gotten rid of.
Though if I bust out the electric trimmer, that'll definately wreck my wrists. High, prolonged vibration tweaks my carpal like nobody's business. -
*Hugs a Neko.*
I've got a full week of gardening, and a pool installation to go through. :/ On the one hand, holy crap! POOL! On the other... epic amount of gardening. At least a two day project to get all of it done.
We spent... three hours yesterday doing gardening, an hour spraying weed killer for the new pool location, and another hour or so moving stuff and making sure stuff was in the proper areas. :/ -
The return of your desire to wear pants? >>
...I can hope. -
*Curls up with a mug of coffee, on the FoC.*
Gonna be a looong week for me. Oi. I hate being tired and achey, and not having had the privledge of doing something fun to earn it. :/ -
Stone tankers are a crutch - while powerful, they're often exaggerated in their necessity. Aaand they pay for that brutally in the damage/recharge department.
Invulnerability is still a good set. Anyone that whines that they need a specific powerset or AT to do anything in this game is a gimp.
Some things make stuff go a bit smoother, but I'll be damned if it's necessary. Only necessary thing is at least half a brain, or I wouldn't do half as well as I do!
For the record, that means I have three-quarters of a brain. :3 -
Movin' on up then. Awesome!
Now who do I have to kneecap to rig the pool for getting you to Italy? >>
...er, and by 'kneecap', I mean 'persuade', and by 'rig the pool' I mean 'make a good case'.
Totally. Because I'm not evil. :3c -
Going through the door like that is actually a bug. You shouldn't be able to go through a solid object like that, and the fact you can is reeaaally not intended.
Then again, I'm not sure if using a Snipe on a door is supposed to be allowed, or why you'd really want to do it in the first place. I can think of two ATs that get one, and I'd be doing more damage faster in both by using everything else (DPA on snipes is pathetic).
Nor do I find it 'near impossible' to break out should I find myself in that situation, on any AT I've tried it on. It takes a little time, but that's part of the point there. Only regret is that Heroes don't get a similar time-waster like it, but then again... They have to deal with moving 'targets' as well. Might be considered balanced. (A fact I sort of question, honestly, but not enough to really be that upset about it.) -

Awesome!
...Now, of course, I'm curious as to what this entails (and the pay-grade increase that follows), because it sounds faskinating. >>
I mean that in the most sincere fashion possible, of course. I am a fox, after all. Naturally curious.
EDIT: Curiosity may have killed the cat, but that's because the fox wasn't quite curious enough to argue about going first. -
I have to say, that's a new hallmark for me... I've never actually seen Sunstorm post! Awesome!
And sounds like a nice weekend, mang. Makes me think I should get out for a weekend... maybe once ze pool is cleared for use. -
That makes some sense, though the math hurts my head.

"specifically because of how the color to those tops is applied"
I'd believe you but, if I remember correctly, even if you choose a different skin color the same generic skin tone comes through light colored masks and tops with skin. I'd check but the servers are down FOR FOREVER. (C'mon guys...hurry up heh)
[/ QUOTE ]
I've a dark-skinned chica that wears a white shirt, and it comes through looking sort of brownish. It's mostly due to the fact that (iirc) the color is being applied as a tinting layer over the base (which is why with Tops with Skins, you're only allowed one color - the 'skin' part inherits the primary color from the Skin sidebar, and applies the 'top' portion as a layer over that). With the way they've talked about how some of the colors work in-game, it looks like that specific category assumes that Color Brightness = Opacity for those selections, and thus with the brighter colors the layer underneath bleeds through.
Or I'm not understanding it right, and Jay and/or BaBs (or someone who remembers them talking about it) will come bop me over the head, and be all 'Nooo, Foxy. That's not how it works!' and I'll be all 'Oh. Well, okay!' when they explain how it does work. << As I'm just assuming. -
IIRC, it happens with any light color, specifically because of how the color to those tops is applied. It's just easier to note with white because of that specific interaction (and happens with a pretty solid variety of those whites as well).
I'd like to see them fix it, but I'm sort of curious what it would entail. -

...what? Most British, Irish, and Scottish accents are hot.
Not so sure about Wales, though. Can't say as I've had much experience with that area... though I'd imagine it's not much different.
Point stands, though! -
Deconstruct your lawn while getting ready for the pool you're getting tomorrow (HUGE sucker, too). :3

Just to point out, Mechano (though I agree with your statements as presented), the OP was complaining specifically about the Aussie/Japan/New Zealand area. >.> Which puts it at a far earlier time and hits a bigger section of their prime time (or so I would imagine).
Time math always confuzzles me, though. -

This is why i never take fish powers as an epic.
That and it rarely fits any theme I have (darkness, Electricity and technology are much easier to bind to existing concepts than fish powers)

I almost always take Mako.
So few people really expect you to throw a freakin' shark in their face, after all. Who does that? I mean, really!
Me and Mako, that's who.
Though I do have a few villains that go Mu or Soul instead. Just I tend to prefer the ones that go Mako for various reasons. :3 -

When I played EQ years ago I was on a night shift, and they used to do maintenance EVERY morning during the week. It got really old.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh. EVEOnline (based in Iceland) does maintenance every day from... 6-7? AM EST, and have a much more widespread playerbase. They also do respawns of most of the major asteroids just after maintenance on Monday and Friday...
...meaning that the only people that actually get to capitalize on it without waking up fairly early are Russians, Aussies, and Oceanics.
And annoyingly, I have to eat a 1-hour downtime (if I'm lucky it's just one - depends on what else is going on that maintenance) during my most active play period on a consistent and regular basis. :/
iRagnarok Online also had a lot of problems with that, too - they would have maintenance back when I'd regularly have the only playtime I could get (after school hours - based out of Korea), as did Rohan Online (Japanese, iirc) and Asda Story (Korean). Just got used to it after a while. Complaining about it on those forums, though, usually got the thread deleted or the mods telling you to get over it (in exactly that many words). I'm thankful that NCSoft has far better customer service standards, honestly.
EDIT: Missed a point of clarification - that comment about bad customer service doesn't apply to EVE, but only out of all the Asian games specifically mentioned, which are a small sample size of every game out there. There have been a few that actually had frighteningly good customer service (Flyff, for example) in comparison, but those three in particular had a habit of giving everyone the finger (in more ways then one - international getting some things late if they get them at all, huge changes in the balance structure [or the balance structure being outright ignored for anyone but home-based servers]) that just made you feel kind of like dirt. Can't quite say that about CCP - they have a reputation for playing a somewhat biased game, but they do at least try to take into consideration their entire playerbase as a whole over just one aspect of it. -
[ QUOTE ]
He is right folks. If they brought down the servers without warning for something scheduled (at least for them), that's pretty crappy; and they do that a lot. The reason they're doing it shouldn't matter, it comes down to courtesy to your player base.
Also, saying this is the release of Issue 15, which we're pretty sure it is, why does do these never get formally announced? I know it was strongly hinted at and they don't want to make promises they can't keep, but if you're bringing down the servers and preventing play, we as players need to know about that.
The OP might be a little over the top angry, but I think he's trying to make a point and I do understand why he's angry about it. All I'm sayin'.
[/ QUOTE ]
I totally understand, don't get me wrong. But another thing to consider is... if the servers are mostly in the U.S... What about the poor guys that have to work on it? Scheduling it just before or during 'acceptable' work hours for the people working on it, while still trying to make sure you impact as few players as possible, seems like the most ideal solution even if it does end up becoming a bit of a balancing act.
Game companies aren't 7/11's, yanno. They don't run 24/7.
I've had a number of 'international' games out of Korea burn me on maintenance times for similar reasons. It sucked, but eh. Not something that a whole lot can be really done about. Getting upset won't change anything in this case - though I'm totally behind them giving a bit more of a warning period before they do it (if it's at all possible - sometimes policies take a little time to change). -
[ QUOTE ]
You guys would be MUCH less braindead about 'normal maintenance, isn't it?' if it occurred during your prime time.
Normal maintenance starts about 15 minutes from now, some 2 HOURS after this current 'oh sorry, the servers are going down, bye bye' debacle.
Thats 2.5 hours of 'gameplay' we Aussies don't get between 8:30pm and the 'normal' maintenance start of 11pm.
But hey, live in your glasshouses, unthinking brethren. Your time will come and then you'll be up in arms when the servers go down during -your- primetime.
[/ QUOTE ]
It sucks, mang, but statistically speaking it'd be down during someone's primetime. And it's not just Aussies that are really affected by this - it's anyone in that particular section of the globe. Rather rude of you to complete forget the Oceanic people that play the game, too.
Not sure if we have much of a Chinese/Russian presence, though. Korea's out for sure - game flopped there. I think Hawaii may be caught in similar straights, but I'm unsure there. Oceania includes Guam, though, so that's a number of technically American players that are similarly cut off as well.
IIRC, the majority of the Playerbase is American. The development time only picked a maintenance schedule that would affect the least amount of players, and sadly enough... that ends up being during your primetime.
Sorry, mang. That's how she rolls - it's not exactly fair, but it's also inevitable.
Further pointing out a side-point, but not all people run on a 'normal' 9-to-5 schedule, either. This hits more then just one section of the globe, dependent wholly on the schedule of the person playing. I'm usually SOL on maintenance days, too. Gogo graveyard shift. -

That's a limited definition. Though, Wiki confirms and elaborates.
As does the Collaborative International Dictionary of English, which provided the following:
3. One free from restraint; one who acts according to his
impulses and desires; now, specifically, one who gives
rein to lust; a rake; a debauchee.
[1913 Webster]
Like a puffed and reckless libertine,
Himself the primrose path of dalliance treads.

[1913 Webster]
4. A defamatory name for a freethinker. [Obsolescent]
