I have seen 3 or 4 go off at once. Suddenly a sea of orange names as no one can get completely away.

Yes the Purple sets are broken and bonuses do not work below 47. Known Issue. Lady Grey Proc is also a known issue. If you hold on to your purple they should be fixing this shortly.

BAB has responded on the Test Forum as indicating he is for this too but it is Positron's decision.

Is there a reverse guide to inventions that lists the salvage and what recipes it is part of?
I know about recipe spreadsheets that tell me what salvage to use but I am looking for salvage and to what recipes it relates. What I am trying to see is what gets me the bigger bang for the buck for a piece of salvage. Something that goes Boresight - To Hit Buffs 10 to 25, Accuracy 10 - 25, Run 10 -25, Fly, etc. That way you can determine the optimum use of the salvage you get.
It seems in the lower tier that Boresights and Brass are used in a lot of recipes. That of course leads to shortages in the market. -
As mentioned by Castle again they appear to look at things at a higher level because we are dealing with a system of systems (SoS) this makes more business sense and is much less difficult to accomplish the goal. This goal is making the Blaster AT fit in to it's niche in CoH. The Blaster AT itself is a System that must fit into the SoS of CoH blending with the other ATs and the bad guys. As shown again and again the players come up with unique combinations of powers that thwart the overall goal of a relatively balanced set of ATs (I use relatively in the sense that each can contribute roughly equally in the game). In order to counter that the developers must look at how all the systems perform together. They can not look at a single power, set or secondary else that new alteration will skew the equation in other ways. You can only model so much in a game or in real life before you run out of time or money. So IMO we are being a bit harsh to think that there is enough resources at Cryptic to devote to looking at the permutations of powers that make up the Blaster Set or any individual set. Datamining is great but it only gives you data not information. That takes some hard work to identify usable trends and work equals time. And time is limited.
Back to Defiance, this inherent is just another system that can be used to adjust the set compared to others without 'nerfs' to the major powers that would result in much teeth gnashing. As such it should not be a big factor in most play and could be used level out the difference of play between powergamers and casual gamers.
In my earlier reference to City of Blasters I was using an extreme example where the Blaster system was seemingly built in relative isolation from the system of the MOBs allowing Blasters to have an unintended advantage. I am sorry if I touched some Hot Buttons, but you missed the point of my message which is that we are in a game with a SoS. It seems we are looking at a single system and expecting it to do more than what the game designers want. I think they want to level the difference in advancement of the min/max powergamer and the casual, less experienced player. In building Defiance as it is they appear to us to reward bad play, but to them they make the playing field more tolerant and enjoyable to the inexperienced player but at the same time not hindering the experienced powergamer. Arcana's numbers seem to show that there is no significant difference overall between the damage classes (Blaster vs Scrapper) when it comes to inherents (Defiance vs Criticals). So why is there a need for altering these systems in the Blasters favor?
Just my 2 inf. -
One thing to remember as alluded to by Castle defiance is just one system in a system of systems (SoS). Looking at the overall performance can tell you how well a Blaster AT is working in the SoS than looking at just a small portion.
Does Defiance do what is advertised in the perception of the gamer? From the discussions I think not. Maybe our perceptions and preconceptions should be handled better by NCSoft.
Does it do what the developers expect within the SoS? That appears to be so as Castle implies with his comments.
When CoH came out it was City of Blasters and that had to be adjusted. We don't want to see that skewed dynamic again. That Defiance helps reduce the difference between good play and bad play is probably true. And as such it is a tool to be used by the Developers to adjust the ATs and reduce the impact of powergamers on the system.
Defiance is just a small part of the game and should not be taken out of the concept of the game as a whole. Does the Blaster AT still work with or without Defiance? Definitely, they are still one of the most popular ATs. And as a popular AT, each Blaster is played by a unique individual and as such Defiance will help or not according to that individuals skills.
Oh and great work Arcana love the analysis. This allows players to decide what playstyle to adapt using some concrete knowledge. Thumbs way up! Love reading your stuff. -
Mini great guide glad to see it updated. When I run there is now a difference in the phase sequence for the Death Cuddle. Clear Monsters, Kill Mitos, Attack Hami (all you need to do is a few points of damage then get non-hold team out of the mold), Holding (hold phase is more difficult now because Hami can still attack when held), Death Cuddle (additional debuffs put on Hami to increase damage of holds), Trading. During the Holding and Death Cuddle the melee and non holding types go on monster and griefer watch to make sure the hold team doesn't get disturbed.
Also during the Kill Mito phase tankers are encouraged to taunt the nearby mitos from the healing bubble and all pets should be out. This is due to new Mito aggro rules where Mitos really hammer folks attacking other mitos unless distracted. The PA drop team also drops closer to the Clearing team as well to help with this.
I look forward to running another raid in a week or so after my crazy schedule calms down. Great tips on how to reduce lag. Make sure you set your graphics settings to low and turn off advanced settings unless you have a super graphics card. -
Ow!! Analized Healing Flames - that has got to hurt.

Current speculation about DJZero is that there will be additional PocketD missions in the near future to continue to encourage hero/villain teams.

Invisible badges are just database markers to indicate some condition has been met so that you can get access to something else later. No badge appears on your character info, hence invisible.

LuggNut,
According to CuppaJo you should recieve an SO at the end of a TF and if you don't you should /petition to get it. The SO should be awarded even if you are Exempted or AutoExempted.
It is best to /petition immediately after the TF completion, but I supposed you can do it now. The Devs will need to datamine for a bit to determine if you didn't get the SO and then you should be awarded it sometime when you log in. -
Having finally found the Paladin under construction last night on Protector server, I can answer at least one of my own questions. It appears that everyone/every team that participated in the defeat of the MC got the badge. There were about 20 of us beating on the MC or the Clocks running around and I didn't see anyone say they didn't get the badge.
As far as how long the MC is under construction before the Paladin is done, I don't know specifically, but it appeared that the MC was gaining about 600 HP a minute. But I have to admit to being pretty excited and not keeping track of the details, this was my first Monster after all.
Being the first one to find the MC was special and thanks to all the heroes who reponded and helped. -
Great Post. I have been camping out a while (up to 7 hours) with a couple of others and have yet to see the Paladin. I was curious though about one thing. Who gets the badge if multiple teams/groups participate in the event? Just the team doing the most damage or eveyone in the area or anyone who did some damage to the MC?
And also how long does it take for the MC to go to 100% if no one is damaging it?
Thanks again for the post. 5 stars
