    Without Dark Control, Dark Assault would be lonely.

    And the tricky thing about Dark Control is that it will have to work with Dark Miasma for Controllers, which will be problematic since Miasma is already very controllery.

    Actually, this will need to be watched.

    In Beta, the Demons were doing so much stacked -Resist, that they were far surpassing what a Sonic/Sonic Defender could do... which should not be the case. No other AT should be able to out-debuff a synergistic Defender. And so, the -Resist of the Demons was scaled back rather significantly.

    So, we'll have to see exactly how much -Resist a Demons/Sonic can throw.

    They're already getting Aim in the Primary. And Life Drain in the Primary is a repeat of Midnight Grasp. And Dark Pit is moving from Blast to Manipulation... so... not so much.

    Cottage rule does not apply to fixes. You expect squishies to have area denial or foe juggling powers, not melee characters that need to hit foes in melee range.

  9. Now that CoH:Freedom means there is no longer such a thing as a Heroic AT or Villainous AT, can we have bright colors for Pain now, or will you port Empathy to MMs so that there can be truly heroic MMs if the player wishes to role-play as such?

    1. Proliferation will continue until there is nothing left to proliferate (that should be understood as "within reason").

    2. Future 'new' sets will come fully proliferated. To me, this should mean that Stalkers will get Titan Weapon melee, otherwise, this is not a true statement.

    So, lets start this with a riddle, since the explanation is just as incomprehensible. Why does Dark Miasma overlapping Dark Control powers make a straight port of Dark Manipulation problematic?


    The explanation is, there are a couple powersets that would be sharing an interesting combination of powers. For example, Controllers want Dark Control and Dark Miasma, except Dark Miasma is already a very control heavy set which would supply a lot of Dark Controls powers. Combining Dark/Dark this way could lead to a lot of overalap.

    Dominators would want Dark Control and Dark Assault, so Dark Assault would have to be careful not to include control powers from Dark Blast or Dark melee.

    Blasters are easier, however the powers that go to blasters would likely be included in Dark Assault, which goes opposite dark control.

    Then there are the general AT wide no-no's. Such as: giving armor powers to non-armored classes, or overlapping powers alread in patron pools.


    So in the end, it's not designing one powerset. It's designing 3 different powersets:

    Dark Control/Dark Miasma for Controllers
    Dark Control/Dark Assault for Dominators
    Dark Blast/Dark Manipulation for Blasters


    Well, that's enough "dark" for several posts. And no, nothing is in the works yet.
    To summarize:
    • You have to port Dark Blast to Blasters who will want a matching Dark Manipulation.
    • Dark Manipulation would pretty much be copied over to Dark Assault for Dominators.
    • Dominators and Controllers would want a Dark Control which can't repeat anything in Dark Assault or Dark Miasma which is going to be really difficult since Dark Miasma already is control-heavy.
    • And none of the sets can repeat what are in the hero or villain Dark Epic Power Pools.

    So, this would not be power *proliferation*. There would have to be three new powersets created around 'no doubles' powers tetris.
