Hey guys, I too have been playing this game for much too long!
My Defiant 50s
Prosper - Illusion / Rad Controller - Probably my most played character overall, I've had her for a few years now and I am slowly badging!
Infinitus - Fire / Elec Blaster - My first 50 and it took a long time getting there. With a nice collection of debt bades in my lack of knowledge but I had a great time the whole way. This was around 2006/7 so "Exp. Smoothing" hadn't been introduced and it was a hell of a ride!
Hepatitis Bee - Spines / Super Reflexes Scrapper - My beloved soft-capped Scrapper. I'm a bit of an ITF junkie with this one and duo'd with a Fire/Kin on my ride to 50 so mobs just melted before us!
Tuxedo Boy - Mind / Kinetics - All I can say is what a great name! :P He was my first ever character made around July 2005 and he eventually hit 50 sometime in 2008! I just couldn't delete him and with more experience, started to enjoy him!
Well that's it for my Defiant 50s, but I'd say it's worth mentioning my Energy/Elec Brute; Torcido who is one bar off 50 - but since the Energy Transfer nerf he's never felt the same
I have an Empath sitting at 46 which I like to bring out every now and then, and am currently levelling a Plant/Storm, Dark/SS Tank and Plant/Psi Domi!
I'm still around quite a lot and enjoy teaming and am usually up for most Task Forces. My other 2 50s are Villains on Onion. Well thanks for your time guys,
Cheers,
Tux -
Hi guys, got my Plant/Storm at Level 28 and having a good time. I'm looking forward to my Tornado and Lightning Storm and was thinking about my damage output in conjunction with my control.
So I guess what I'm asking is should I be slotting Roots and Tornado for damage, and will Roots have a -kb effect? I've read the info on it and it has a 100000% "resistance" to knockup/knockback but my Hurricane still gets the mobs tossed about Which I'm not saying is a bad thing as I do like herding mobs into a corner but I'd like to pump out some AoE damage with them locked down and then setting off a Tornado.
Thanks in advance,
Tux. -

The regen is basically what I do in most builds. This build is just different in the way, that I have a 270hp heal in my attack chain which alone counts for quite a bit of regen. This is the main reason why I did think of swapping some of the regen for recharge.

Well I'd say you're exactly right there, so building for some recharge is definitely your way to go! However I apologize as I'm not sure on the numbers that are needed for global recharge to get your particular attack chain up and running. Having a look around the Scrapper/Tanker US forums might help there. -
It depends what you want DSorrow, if you're in for soloing AVs, of which Shield/DM is possible then recharge is your way to go - and I would probably do that myself.
Regarding regen, I think it would mesh nicely with the fact that you're not getting hit so will notice your high regen rates when you do get hit but I can't say how valid it would be as I've never tried this approach myself.
All in all, I would say go for recharge, plus you'll have Soul Drain and Shield Charge up more often
Hope that helps,

Well the most common -def are either the guns or the Cimeroran swords which are both undoubtedly Smash/Lethal, so getting some Smash/Lethal defence around the 40% Defence range might be very nice with Kinetic Combat etc., thanks for the help guys
-
Right guys, thanks for all your replies. I think I'll definitely build my Tanker for some respectable defence numbers, adding to my survivability.
My one question is I have been looking around the US forums and any DA Tanks building for defence have seemed to have gone for the typed defence route. Is this for any particular reason because it would seem to me that it would be easier to build for positional as there are only three aspects to aim for. Again thanks in advance. -
Gratz guys, still haven't done a "Master of". A great achievement
-
Thanks very much for all your replies. Looks like Bronze is the way to go! I'll save up 240 merits on one of my characters for that Miracle
And about those Achilles' Heel procs, patient bidding will get you one eventually if you're prepared to wait a week or so. Got about 3 for 100k each with my Thugs Mastermind on Union Villains. -
In general, when using my architect tickets, are bronze class rolls deemed the best average value overall? Also are the drops for these just a "Pool C" drop? I'm not very clear on these categories, so for example would there be a chance that I would get a Miracle:+Recovery drop of Bronze rolls or are they specific to Pool A?
Thanks in advance for your help guys. -
So what I'm gathering is anything with even a little -def debuff will gradually render my defence useless and not make my surivability any greater in the 'tougher' situations. What have most people aimed for in their respective Dark Armor builds? Recharge and recovery just to keep Dark Regen available?
-
Hey everyone, I have a 34 Dark/SS Tank, and I was thinking whether it would be viable/worth it to shoot for some defence. With Cloak of Darkness, CJ, Weave and a Steadfast +3% Def.IO, I would get some respectable numbers.(Also to a lesser extent some -tohit from Cloak of Fear).
So basically has anyone tried it and found it to be making a difference in survivability or would I be wasting my time? -
Thanks very much Val, looks very interesting. I did craft some purples once to sell back for profit, but it was very risky, and the profit margins weren't too reliable. I would make a lot with one craft, but give a few days, and crafting the same recipe would lose you millions.
-
I would be interested in your progress too TRT. I think marketeering is easy once you get into the swing of things, and find some IOs that have a steady profit, that doesn't fluxuate.
To Valdamar: 2 billion's very impressive! Would you spend your marketeering time finding various IOs to craft and sell back for profit, or did you usually deal with the common IOs? -
D3 is a great defender build, and you can do lots with it. If you have some money or have come across some nice drops on the way to 50, you can go for some recharge, and get Nightfall and Tenborous Tentacles coming round a bit quicker for some AoE carnage. Taking Hasten for this (and 3-slotting)is also a good idea
Nice recharge sets can be Red Fortune or Positron's Blast for example. Basically just look at the types of set bonuses you want to go for, and then see how easily achievable stacking a fair amount of them would be.
Hope that helps.

Right, thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated - I feel my AoE output without Heavy Burst is perfectly acceptable, and I'll definitely be keeping my spiderlings, how about the "reinforcement" Arachnobot BLasters?
-
I would be up for it with my Fort or Crab both in the mid-30s if that'd be alright?
-
Carnifax,
I thought I'd give you a few little fun tips to have a go at if you'd like with Neutrino Bolt. Putting an Achilles' Heel Proc - Chance for -Res is very useful, and in most of your other Rad AoEs. They can be relatively cheap if you're a patient bidder on the Black Market
Secondly for Neutrino Bolt the Lady Grey Proc - Chance for Neg. Energy damage is very nice in such a fast recharging power.
Hope that helps,
Tux -
Well I've got a Crab in the late 40s and I've got a lot of powers to pick! I was hoping a few of the more experienced soldiers might be able to answer me a few questions.
1. Just how useful are the spiderlings really? Eventually I reckon I'll have them perma but I don't hugely notice their damage input.
2. Is Heavy Burst worth the redraw on my Crab? I don't really have issues with pulling out the gun, and I know it's a good attack.
3. What's the feeling on Arm Lash? It looks like a fun power with decent damage.
Thanks in adavnce -
Some more slots in Aid Self might not be a bad idea either. Maybe a recharge and an interrupt.
-
Love my Dark/Ice (30) Tar patched Ice Storm + soon-to-be Blizzard anyone? :P
Like my Emp/Psi (39) -
This all sounds good. Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated. I think I'll take from Emp:
Heal Other
(Ressurect)
Fortitude
Clear Mind
Recovery Aura
Regen. Aura
Adrenaline Boost -
Hey guys, I'm doing a duo with a freind of two Empaths which should be powerhouses. Towards the higher end of the game I have a few questions:
1. Do we need Stamina, Adrenaline Boost and Recovery Aura cycled should definitely suffice? Or not?
2. Is there any point in either of us having Abosrb Pain strictly in the duo? (I can make a second build for pure teaming).
Thanks in advance guys -
Looks like great fun! A soft-capped Controller seems pretty phenomenal TRT. You got any of these on live or currently working on any?

And I can't find it at the moment, but on the US a lot of people have argued that Dark Blast potentially comes out top on AoE damage with hefty amounts of recharge. Also procced out Radiation Blasts can be very impressive.
Hope that helps -
With almost ~35% S/L and Darkest Night, you should be absolutely fine. Even minus Weave as Nightmarer says.
