Sorry gujys.... I'm not going to be able to make it tonight, I've still got lots of things to sort out this week.

Its all just the wrong thing to be going for on the one set that got a full chain of 2 attacks . Proc herding is just a gimmick and requires messing up the most awesome chain in the game by throwing in [censored] like boxing, you cant beat SP+Smite+SP+Smite+SP+Smite+SP+Smite.

Well then forgive me since this is the first time I've heard of the DPS DM brute idea. Both the proc and non-proc ideas sound like a pretty cool build idea to me. Do you have a copy of the build of the version you describe? I'd love to compare the differences with the one linked above. -
/Dark Miasma as a set synergises very well with itself, plus it the effects are very visual too - a Miasma team should be quite a sight!
Unfortuantely my hands are full with theme teams right now, otherwise I think it could be a fun team to be a part of. Best of luck! -
The advantage of the procs is they'll cause extra damage not limited by the Brute's Fury damage cap.
Plus when you're making 26 proc checks every 10 seconds, that adds up to a lot of bonus damage. -

* Decimation in your single target hold is just painfull. IMHO, keep decimation in your assault powers, or apply it to levitate/mezmerize, but slotting your hold with dmg is just painfull :S And remember, you gonna use your single target hold in almost all the enemies you fight, so think in slotting it with control.
[/ QUOTE ]
Respectfully but heartilly diagree. With IOs it's easy to fit the single target Hold with both Hold and Damage sets and get enough benefits from both.
Even without IOs, the ST Hold is one of your best attacks anyway. The base recharge and duration are such that there is never any trouble stacking it, especially if you run Hasten - and of course it only gets better when Domination's active.
My own Mind/Psi Dom has Mezmerize, Levitate Dominate slotted for damage and frankly rules on the single target damage front, but never suffers for control - because it's Mind Control, a set sometimes criticised for actually having too much control. As such it's the easiest one to cut corners with, though I wouldn't hesitate to do the same with any Domi primary ST Hold power.
It would work nicely for Controllers who get Containment so longer holds are more to their benefit damage-wise, but Domis need extra damage wherever they can find it! -
I found this thread while browsing the US forums and wanted to share.
Clicky.
It sounds like a pretty mean build. -
I agree on the Ignite thing, it defintiely bears mentioning in the guide.
Also, one of the defining powers in Archery is Blazing Arrow. It does incredible single target damage (almost as much as Archery's snipe, without the long snipe animation) and is every bit a must-have as the Rain of Arrows. Certainly bears mentioning. -
Yeah, that's what I've just been looking at in my coursework breaks.
I can grab lots of small +Recovery bonuses from IO sets, and most of them are the cheaper sets too (yay Thunderstike!). I ended up with decent Accuracy and Recharge boosts from the set bonuses too.
It just got me down that my Kin has been at the same level for a while because soloing is sometimes not as much fun with her as it is with some of my other toons. I end up hating boss and AV fights whereas with most other toons I relish them. This actually started in that thread below, about the best primary set for a Kin Corr.
So I decided I wanted to switch the build about a bit, take powers that could add some variety to the proceedings.
I'll be grabbing the Rad snipe for better kiting (never had space for it before), plus Air Superiority because Repel is too unpredictable and Rad's sole KB power wasn't cutting it. I spend sooo much time in melee range anyway, I figured I might as well. I might keep Swift because it's handy for Hover, or I might try out Grant Invis or ID for a team utility. -
Oh no I've got Hasten too. I didn't mention it because it's really no-brainer for Kins
My main is a Kinetic Defender, who took IR over as travel power and while it works well, I wanted to try the Siphon Speed + Hover thing with my Corr. I'm loving that so I'm adverse to removing it - plus one of the powers I'd like to try is Air Sup, for some knockdown that doesn't suck!
I figure I should just try it out. I've got a freespec and a vetspec still to use on this character anyway, so I can change back if it doesn't work out. -
I was looking over my Rad/Kin build today and it struck me that there are a few powers I'd like to take wich would extend her survivability somewhat. Unfortunately there's no room in her build to take them.
Currently she has Swift, Health and Stamina, plus Hover and Fly as her travel power of choice (didn't want to go the IR route this time around). She's currently level 39 and has all the Kinetics powers except ID and IR.
I was wondering, how badly does a Corruptor feel the lack of Stamina? I know Kin Defenders can cope without it but that some Kin Trollers can struggle without it. Since Corrs have the same buff % as Trollers, is it the same for them?
In particular I'm worried about how draining both Hover and the inevitable PPP shield toggles would be during a fight. I have Repel too, but only use it in emergencies.
So, any testimonials?
EDIT: Oh yeah, my Corr is PvE only. -
Taunt? Most go with TP Foe...
Should be fun to see that in action. Unfortunately I can't make it again this week.
Have fun! -
Of coruse if you're an Ice/Storm or Earth/Storm you're laughing. Tornado + Containment + AoE powers that resist KB is carnage!
-
Again it comes down to responsible use of KB versus KB spamming.
I like the Dark and Sonic KB cones (and Gale) because they're 100%, which makes them very reliable and predictable. You also have plenty of non-KB attacks to use instead if KB is not the right thing to do in your current situation. You have a KB on tap if you need it (because it really is a useful soft control) and every other power will behave nicely, which makes for a very handy tool.
Unfortunately some sets are very hard to use responsibly (Eenrgy, AR) because they have so many KB powers and because they're not 100% chance of KB. Very unpredictable even for the person firing them. But when that happens should he or she wait until another power is recharged, or take the risk that the KB won't proc this time? -

This doesn't matter much in teams but if you want to solo, you'll do best with a primary blasting set that provides some mitigation.
Ice Blast and Dark Blast offer the best protection, and of those two, Ice causes more damage (since it has Aim). An Ice/Kin would be your best bet for solo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sonic offers some mitigation as well with it's cone sleep and a very nice stun. The -res would be nice for upping your damage even more. I haven't tried it but I should imagine a sonic/kin would work well.
[/ QUOTE ]
True, forgot about that. Sonic can stack stuns with its nova, too. Ice or Sonic would be best for soloing, then!
And to elaborate on my earlier point. Mob aggro you can deal with, you can learn to love. But soloing Bosses and EBs with Rad Blast is difficult. Your singular stun has no effect on its own, your KB power is sooooo slow that you can't use it for sustained soft control, your secondary effects offer you no help.
I have a Rad/Kin Corr, and while it's possible to muddle through some boss fights using dirty handed things (like Repel), in St Martial you'll find some horrendously difficult boss types. Wailer Kings neutralise your stun power entirely, and I don't need to tell you how mean Carnie bosses can be.
I do enjoy using my Corr but a powerset like Ice or Sonic would have made my life much easier. -
Kinetics is a brilliant set but where it lacks compared to other secondaries is in forms of damage mitigation.

Like I said, teaming this won't become so apparent. In that case, Ice, Rad and Sonic all synergise very well with Kinetics. AR and Energy blast are probably the worst compliments to the set (Energy for its excessive KB, AR for its weapon redraw). -

I got gangbuster badge if anyone wants to do the slot machine contact next week
Might be a bit low now though :S

What level are you?

Good good. You'd better not have Trip Mines before I can play again!
Do the Slot Machine contact, before you outlevel it. Definitely do. -
See you folks tonight. Unfortunately I'll only be able to stay for an hour or so, due to work. Hoepfully see you at 7pm.
-
Well it is a Dom! I kid, I kid.
Firstly, you have no Stamina, or Power Sink (seeing as you chose the Mu Mastery pool). Using Telekinesis will drain your endurance incredibly quickly even with Stamina, so in your case you'll find the endurance drain especially bad.
Also, Decimation: Chance for Build Up is a unique IO and you can't have more than one. As such your current build is impossible. -
Nicely done, congratulations! That is something to be proud of.
Though I do have one question:
[ QUOTE ]
To my surprise, Archus was extremely easy to defeat (I've heard people with great teams say he took over three hours to defeat).
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never heard anyone having that kind of trouble before, seriously. What is it about Archus that's meant to make him so tough? The one time I've done the Ice Mistral SF I found him no harder than your average AV.

EDIT: Ok obviously the image links aren't working the way they should. My apologies! Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea how to fix them :S
[/ QUOTE ]
Images are disabled on these forums is why, by order of the management.
Nothing you can do except provide links to them, as you have done. -
Last night was quite enjoyable. We gave Back Alley Brawler a half-dzoen lessons in respect, mua ha ha...
How is everyone for Shivans? If we have enough we could try the respec again next week, since most of us are lvl 32 now. Otherwise, a trip to Bloody Bay is part of the plan. -
If your heart is set on the Dark Miasma set, Fire/Dark, Ice/Dark and Sonic/Dark are all very nice combinations.
-
Looking forward to tonight. I should get to 32 finally, plus we can pummel Mynx one more time. It'll be my last full-length Trapper session for a little while as well, so can't wait.
-
Ah, well I'll save my Mynx for next week then unless you're sick of it.
YEah I thought there's be a few 32s - I was expecting to ding myself if I'd played the full 3 hours-ish. -
Well what I managed to attend last night was lots of fun.
Unfortunately my net connection has cruelly done itself some kind of malfunction and I have no net at home now.
Let me know what you go up to in my absence (level/mission-wise) and I'll try and catch up once I get this problem sorted out.
