Quote:To use a more accurate analogy, however, you won't get merits or a component from a failed ITF.Again, just because you don't finish the ITF or the Kahn or the STF doesn't mean you haven't gotten rewards the whole way through.
The Trials are like an ITF that, even if you fail, you still get given merits. -
Quote:Thats a trick question, right?I'm asking people not to voice their opinions until they've had some time to experience the trials and formulate decent opinions from experience.
This requires maturity, though. I guess I am being ridiculous asking for something like this on the internet.
In all seriousness, though, I've run through Lambda three times so far, all with players with;
1) A good leader who was clued in and kept directions and comms going
2) Good players who know how their AT works and how to mesh with a team
3) Good characters with heavy IO builds and often level shifts
Having got to the final stage without too much issue, and then getting curbstomped in five seconds flat without it even being Marauder himself, I don't think it's unreasonable to be somewhat peturbed by that.
And the Artillery. Nothing will ever redeem the artillery, especially not when it punished MMs beyond any other AT.
Edit: And, while I may have only done this for the first time yesterday, as has been pointed out there are others who have been through the Beta of all this, who still dislike it. If that isn't an informed response, what is? -
...I almost hope thats true. That would explain why Alpha is being little more than a sound and light show when facing the final mobs...
-
You're asking people to not voice their opinions and feedback/critiscism, simply because they don't happen to like certain things?
Never going to happen. -

Quote:Now that does sound satisfying. And I love it that, in this game, the second last sentence is actually feasibleJust won my first BAF.
15 seconds remaining in the event. Nighstar and Siege at 3%.
Nightstar goes down. 10 seconds, both on the timer and before she's resurrected.
5 seconds. Siege at 1%.
2 seconds. Siege falls. Mission complete.
Entire team throws up numerous capslock sentences, tanker self destructs.
I had to change my pants.
Yeah, I did an actual dance on Sieges twitching body

Quote:No. I'm upset that my pets, my entire primary, is killed of near instantaneously by spammed AoEs with higher than average acc and boss level damage.Clearly you both missed my point about what saying about the Controller and the AV. You basically seem to be upset that MMs have a tactical weakness and want them to be able to handle things like other ATs can. Tough.
And thats after being shelled constantly during setup.
I want to be able to handle things MY way, the MM way. And I'm basically being told, by the game itself, 'LolNo.' -

Quote:Marauder isn't the problem.Marauder is brick-walling you? Other than Nova Fist and Enrage, he's a completely normal level 54 AV. We've been fighting those with no level shifts and only 8 teammates forever.
EDIT: Okay, he does have [Scaling]. Still, if you manage to acid all the doors and still can't beat Marauder, the only thing I can conclude is that you're doing it wrong.
It's his attendent Harem of Victoria's and Walwalker/Commander/ACU escorts that was killing us in seconds. They seem to love spamming Battle Orbs which, whatever they do, was enough to brick us into the floor and sixteen feet under. -
Yeah, Heavy Commanders seem more than a little broken, with their screen obscuring missiles that seem to be on a, what, 3 second recharge?
The Augars are also horrible, for me, because of Terrorise. Oh look, frozen in place for a good lon- dead. -
Quote:On the flipside, I consider going from a team being able to challenge x8 +4 End mobs with a decent chance of success if they were skilled and careful to the same team being wiped out within ten seconds equally ludicrous. And my opinion is that raging and declaring new content to be horribly broken and badly designed after less than 24 hours of it being live and still brand new to 90% of the game's players is ridiculous.
ALL of the same things I am seeing said about the trials have been said about EVERY new task force that has been introduced to the game since I started playing.
And I thought people raging about how hard they were on the first day of their release was stupid then too.
I'm not harping to the stupid tune of 'Waaah it's too hard, don't like it!' I'm complaining that, having tried tactics and different teams and suchnot, with leaders and other players who clearly know what they are doing, I'm getting punished adversely for (partially being an MM and) no good reason. Other than the mobs are an enforced +4 and have ludicrously high accuracy.
Edit: And what CB said. -
Quote:*sigh*that they need to use strategy to get the acid and close the portals? seriously. and you don't need to speed through the collection phase. a team can clear the halls to each one and have enough time due to both teams getting items will add extra time. and don't let the mobs pile up during the final phase. you have to clear them and their annoying orbs before dealing with marauder.
my S/L soft capped controller had to learn the hard way that i can't stand toe-to-toe and deal with these mobs single handedly. its all about strategy and teamwork - something players have forgot about with their fancy IOs.
We cleared the portals. On every run I've done so far. Yet STILL Marauder keeps getting reinforcements from somewhere, despite having 0/10 left.
And every time we tried to clear the mobs? Mass AoE Death from Warwalkers, Heavy Commanders and Victorias. All orb buffed.
This is with people with Judgement equipped. -
Quote:I guess I should tell my friends that their Dominators are doing it wrong, then.I understand that's how you "feel" about it. There are parts of this game I don't like either.
I just think asking the Devs to make adjustments to things based on the narrow point of view of the play experience of one AT during one set encounter is not a very viable suggestion. Somehow you'd have to make the case that every encounter in every trial/TF/SF should be made to be "friendly" to every AT, and I simply don't think you've made that case. Again I'll point out that I might like to stand toe-to-toe in melee against AVs using my Controllers but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon either because there's no obvious justification for it.
Put your energy into figuring out how you can adapt to the new challenge the Devs have provided.
The chance the Devs are going to change this aspect of the trial to make it more "AT friendly" is just about nil. -
Quote:Oh, look, a strawman.I guess throwing a fit and ragequitting game is the only option left to you then.
If you're THIS pissed about it, why waste your time on it anymore?
You clearly feel the devs have destroyed the entire game in one issue. The only logical course of action left for you is to stop giving them your money.
Or you can keep paying for something you seem to hate now and make a donkey of yourself on the forums.
Or, you can wait until after the first freaking day of the new stuff when people might have figured out how this thing works and try it again.
Guess we found the game killer here. Make something that is difficult enough that people can't blindly button mash through it, and you'll have droves of people rage-quitting because their easy mode got taken away.
Oh, look, a whole group of strawmen!
Kindly stop putting words in my mouth. The game is not broken. I never
said that, and you know it.
And just because I'm annoyed with something effectively cheating doesn't mean I'm going to quit. On the flip side, that doesn't mean I have to keel over with giddy rapture about it either.
Last time I checked, these forums allowed for anyone to voice their opinions. And my opinion is that the +4 Boss and Lt mobs contain too much cheat to make this fun, at present, especially when playing an MM (my main char).
So, kindly find someone elses intelligence to try and insult. -
And what do you advise for teams that have those AND builds that are IO'd to the gills, and yet STILL get curbstomped by a swarm of +4 Bosses and LTs, never mind Marauder?
-
Quote:Well THAT Design goal failed utterly. Because even last night, on release day, people had Rares and even a few Very Rares. The reason for not just having shards is that some people have amassed a vast stock of shards (I haven't been trying and I have almost 200 on one character) so if shards were to be used for these next tiers then the cost would either be staggering (putting more casual players off) or people would immediately be able to 'complete' these new slots (putting the hoarders off as they have done it all already).
It would have been better (and probably more consistent) to have only one form of shard/thread but because of the staggered implementation there has to be two (and I wouldn't be surprised if a third came along for the next block of slots made available to us)
Ball Status: Fumbled, Dropped, Lost -
So far? Both Trials have felt like major "Ha! Ha! **** You MMs! You're going to suffer, and the Gods are going to laugh!"
Lambda interior is one big middle finger shoved in my MMs face. Did anyone bother testing an MM in Beta? Do you realise how MUCH all that AoE hurts?! And this is with +1 shift and V.Rare Alpha (Damage).
It's not possible for me to run through that part like every other AT and live. It just isn't. Thats a built in problem of MMs. -
What the hell do you think I do?
And die again.
And die again.
And again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and bloody again because the team is getting killed off by the huge mob of Battle Orb spamming Bosses and LTs!
We killed the Portals! We killed the other mobs! We take on Marauder and DIE. What the ruddy hell do you suggest, oh font of all bleeding wisdom? -
The only things I have problems with are;
1) The autohit artillery spam in Lambda that makes my MMs setup a huge annoyance.
2) The ludicrously high acc and damage on set +4 mobs, to the point that I can't live for more than 5 seconds in the final stages of Lambda. Battle Orb spam seems rampant, too. Marauder does NOT need that many Bosses with him. (And yes, we killed all the portals first)
Those are all technical and balance issues I have with it. Nothing else. -
Unlocking Mortimer Kal is easy as breathing, so that's really not an issue. In fact, first mob I spanked instantly dropped the tip for it.
Was a fun little intimidation racket, I have to admit. Nice and characterful.
On a design standpoint; Barring the level 54 Praetorian Doomsquad mobs? I LOVE the new trials! Its different, its intuitive, its laid out pretty nicely.
I just object to the brokenly high damage and acc levels that even minions seem to have. I'm not asking for a cakewalk, I'm just asking that, if they HAVE to be level 54, for the love of pete at least let me survive for more than five bloody seconds so I can have a shot at stuff! -
Bleeding into the pavement after Marauder and his merry mob of Bosses and LTs curbstomped us in five seconds.
-
Quote:Yes, because getting one shotted or killed within 5 seconds is sooooo logical and easy to work around. Yes, right, sorry, I should kneel before your eternal wisdom shouldn't I?Oh, yeah, I forgot about that.
Never mind. Clearly this is different than all the other things that were declared impossible, too hard, or badly designed. Never mind that when all those things were released they were different than the previous too hard/badly designed thing too.
Carry on with the doomrage. Don't try and figure out the new tactics that will work with the new stuff, because we should be able to use the exact same tactics for everything. Anything else is bad design.
Silly me for not seeing how incredibly logical that is. -
Quote:Different Strengths and Weaknesses=!One AT getting penalised above all others by an auto-hit that makes it hard for the main selling point of the AT.So it's wrong for different ATs to have different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to tactical situations?
For some reason I'm incredibly sure the Devs would disagree with you.
It's like telling Scrappers and Stalkers that Crits get turned off every 3 seconds, or telling Brutes that their Fury will be reset to 0 every 5 secs.
Thats how it feels being a Bot/Traps MM in the final stage.
