I actually tried out Bloody Bay with Nevermore, and I enjoyed it! As a zone, it looks very gothic, very suited to the style of character Nevermore is, and PvP was a bit of fun. Only found a couple of villains to fight though. *shrug* wasn't exactly a prime playing time.
One thing I did learn, is that Ninjas are rubbish against Nevermore! I actually got attacked by a Ninja Mastermind while afk, and by the time I got back, I'd hardly taken any hits worth mentioning, and still managed to mop the floor with all of his minions, and chase off the MM in question. Think myself and Zortel (using Alex Reed) caught up to him. That, or we got bored and decided to raid the villain base.
Actually managed to get right inside, past all the guards, too! -
Seconded. A lot of people wouldn't bother saying something like that, and it is appreciated.

Okay, for any gamers among us who don't mind a trip to Ireland in January, I figured I'd publicise the next Warpcon, being held in University College Cork. In Cork, surprisingly.
All the info can be found at www.warpcon.com
Not sure how many are interested or even able to make a trip to Ireland for a weekend, but Warpcon's great fun, runs more games than any other con in the country, and has a great pub on campus. -
Yeah, but most roleplaying groups I know of don't include players who refer to themselves as "Fighter" or "Mage", or high-five when they kill a monster.
Well, actually, the high-fiving has happened... -
It's not anything personal, it's just inconsiderate to dump a load of unwanted angst and plot on someone without asking first, especially when you previously had little or nothing to do with their character. Not to mention the fact that, sicne you won't be around anymore to handle any fallout, it looks like you're just looking to cause trouble for peoples' characters.
A far better thing to do would have been to roleplay your character during your time here, make friends with people, then have your character leave the city for some (probably very mundane) reason. You and your character would have been remembered a lot more fondly. -
Um, just a thought. Given what FFM said on the GG thread about last night, and Mephistofeles' appearance, have you actually asked his permission to use a part of his character's plot and backstory in your own plot? Because, considering he actually asked people to give his character a break for a while, and knew nothing about the incident you'd planned for last night, it's pretty rude to just start assuming things and forcing it upon his character without so much as a "do you mind?".
EDIT: As Ghost said, if you keep pulling over the top drama out every time your character appears or has to leave again for a while, people will quickly get bored, and won't bother anymore. -
Jen and I have had hugs from nearly everyone who went. Odd as it sounds, it's incredible to know we were missed. It really is a humbling feeling to know that people care so much.
In case you haven't guessed by now, we both missed you all like crazy and were utterly gutted and miserable yesterday!
But yes, I'm already at work plotting something.
How many people think they could make it to Ireland in January....? -
Um...what arguments?
What can another SG get from visiting your base?
I'm actually curious as to why being able to see a base should be considered such a major thing. Surely if you're in a coalition, they're your friends, and you don't mind? -
Japanese food is fantastic! Mmm, beef teriyaki....
As for sushi...prawn sushi is good, the rest I don't like, too slimey. Maki is fantastic.
Just remember, leave something on your plate so it isn't completely cleared, don't drink too much sake, and never, ever, punch your waiter in the face. -
This argument is going nowhere. Rock_Eagle, you're obviously never going to see things from our point of view. The OP was about places for villains and heroes to RP together.
This thread has, if nothing else, proven that, unless Cryptic make some changes, there is no, and will never be, a way for heroes and villains to roleplay in an open and safe environment together. -

If your in a PvP zone and your standing still your gonna get attacked its that smiple. What you guys are asking people to do is change the way they are using a zone to fit in with your minority activty what you should be doing is trying to get a zone or a safe place where heros and villains can interact.

We've been asking for that since we first heard CoV was coming out. We've been asking for more RP content since the game was released. What did we get? A re-used warehouse map that had awful background music (Paragon Dance Party).
But since we're a minority (and will remain so, because CoH offers nothing for roleplayers, and isn't likely to anytime in the future), and the type of player becoming vocal on the boards is shifting, we don't get listened to. We get ignored, and told that what we're asking for is "quality of life", that will be looked at when there is time.
I'd like to point out that CoV is out a month and a half, and alread talk has started of the NEXT game in the series.
Seriously, they can't even keep costume options from disappearing, what makes them think they can handle a THIRD game? -
Okay, yes, it's a PvP zone, and everyone's a target. Fine.
Let me draw a comparison:
In PvE, killstealing (attacking a mob already under attack by another player so you can steal their XP with minimal effort and risk) is considered griefing, and you can be petitioned for it. It's also considered incredibly bad etiquette.
It's no different than seeing some characters fighting it out, roleplaying as they go, and alpha-striking them into oblivion "just for kicks".
That's why I don't go to PvP zones. Because I want to enjoy the game my way, not have to worry about stopping to have a look at the scenery in case some guy decides to waste me just because he can.
If someone attacked me while i was RPing in a PvP zone, I'd send him one /tell to ask him to stop, and if he didn't, he'd be petitioned. -
Well, unfortunately, there seems to be little obvious backstory to explain how Paragon deals with the whole "secret identity" issue. The comics, and Dev comments about requests for a Secret Identity Mode on characters, would suggest that when a person registers as a hero, they do so revealing who they really are. Being a hero becomes their job, as it were.
At GG we get a mix of players whose characters keep their true identity a secret, whose true names are known to the public, and those who don't really make an effort to hide who they are, but don't exactly broadcast it, either.
When I mentioned that I enjoyed playing the persoanl life of my character, I didn't mean that GG is where we go playing our secret identities. Many people, including myself, do in fact do this, but we also arrive as our heroes in full costume, if our characters are the type to socialise like that.
There tends to be a focus on getting to know characters in terms of their daily lives, beyond fighting crime and other heroic deeds. -
Think so. I've already told you what I have planned, after all.
-
I think the formal party should be fiction. Have something in mind....

*Jessica walks up the aisle with a bunch of freshly pulled flowers, roots and all, and dumps them at the altar, proceeding to eat several*
-
Well, if I were to arrange it as an RPed scene, it would have happened away from GG, and most of GG wouldn't have gotten an invite, anyway
As for best man, etc...
Best Man: Alex most likely.
Groomsmen: Michael Maxwell, David Redwood
Maid of Honour: Samantha Wells
Bridesmaids: Zorielle, Hannah
Imagining Jessica as a flowergirl is just wrong.... -
Being honest? Same reason some people who do enjoy PvP feel the need to complain at those who say they don't enjoy it. Part of me enjoys a good debate, the other takes an odd measure of bemusement from the way a lot of focus on the boards has shifted to the PvP elements of the game with the advent of CoV.

I'm not just talking about physical violence. Verbal abuse, which is only more likely due to the anonymity of the Internet, is fairly common in situations were competition has devolved into aggression. Not to mention the potential for in-game griefing. It's just things that people need to be aware of before they start mouthing off on a more or less anonymous forum. It's basic consideration for the person on the other end.
I mean, how big would someone feel if they found out the person they once taunted after a PvP fight was a 12 year old kid? -
I never mentioned schools, though. There are any number of factors making a school environment (or any other competetive environment, for that matter) vastly different to what we see here. Supervision, for one. If children become aggressive, there is (or should be) an adult present to deal with it. In sports, there are referees (not that this stops sporting events from becoming violent with some degree of regularity).

*aims ketchup at Question*

Hey, no need to jump down my throat because I made a comment. Competition is healthy. The aggression that often accompanies it is not. Just making a statement, nothing more. You disagree, fine, no skin off my nose. No need to get sarcastic about it.
And this isn't aimed at Question, he was just last on the list. It's in response to Burning Fist, Rock Eagle, and Spango.
