More interested in the auras than the capes, though the Tech one looks... nice... in the incredibly dark lighting of that particular demo.
If it's the price of the party pack I'll definitely get it. -
I'd say around 80% of my characters are designed around having a cape and flight, rocket boots being an exception. No dangling cloth with flaming footwear.
And no, the few characters I have with SJ or SS do not have capes.

Quote:For what it's worth, there were a few mentions of miniatures games in the first few pages before we got derailed arguing over somethingerother....I shouldn't have even read the thread, I guess. I saw "Tabletop games" in the title and thought of military games like Squad Leader or board games like Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Railroad Tycoon, and Betrayal at House on The Hill. I've always called RPGs "pen and paper games".

It's weird, the show is like the MTV Awards 2.0 or something.
-
I could live with Ghouls, Clockwork, or the Hamidon Spawn.
Praetorian Police too, but they're not that "epic" compared to Powers Division. And maybe it's just me, but I think Seers would be neat, if for no other reason than to get access to their hover stance. Probably too close to Fortunatas though. -
Quote:Aren't all awards shows sorta pointless? And I notice they're just calling it "Scream" now instead of the "Scream Awards," speaking of marketing.yeah, the whole show is kind of pointless. I originally only watched to see the BttF reunion, which only consisted of Fox and Walken.
I'm still surprised at all the names they get for the show. For crying out loud, it's freaking Spike TV. When did Spike TV get any pull?!
But the advance movie/TV clips and comic book appreciation are nice. Could have lived without seeing anything from the Human Centipede though. >.< -
Sure it's just covers, but I do like how they're a actually thinking about it and adapting thrown weapons into the Tron discs, Ghost Rider's bike, etc.

Quote:That's a thought. We have a player with a wife and a little army of his own.I used to have one of the players in my home game playing over Skype. We had a web cam focused on the battle map (3.5 D&D game), and we all could hear him just fine. He wasn't able to come over because he wife worked nights and he had to watch the kids. It all worked out well enough. He eventually dropped out though.
And for what it's worth, the same guy "borrowed" a projector from the school he teaches at, and uses it to, ah, project a battlemap program from his laptop onto a wall. It's a neat way to do combat, especially large scale, if you have access to that sort of equipment. -
Quote:You're still counting anecdotal evidence as fact.Way to totally ignore the linked article, which further demolishes your position.
Also, the only self-selection on RPG.net is tabletop RPG players. Hence the name, RPG.net. Kinda thought it was self-explanatory, there. But yeah, what does the largest online tabletop gaming community on Earth, many of whom spend much of their time reviewing RPGs (not to mention the people in the community who make RPGs, including pros like John Wick), know about RPGs?
...
Quote:...People will come up with backgrounds or neglect them based on their own preferences, rules don't change that. If a player doesn't care about their background and the rules force them to pick one they'll either do it at random or pick one they think will give them an in-game advantage. You can't force people to role-play.
I still think the best aid to getting people to RP in a tabletop setting are a quality role-player or three. If someone is open to talking in-character, but hesitant to do so for whatever reason, seeing people have fun IC always helps. -
If they pass the torch to Shia LeBouf, they lose me. LeBouf's schtick is only slightly less annoying than Michael Cera.
-
Seriously, I've never heard the term "chargen" before.
These days, I prefer to leave my character's history a little open ended. If I need some background information during the game that I didn't already think of during character creation, I'll just ad-lib it as I go. -
What the samhell is chargen? o.0
Quote:To-may-toe, to-mah-toe....A character's backstory should be decided on creation. Having Schrodinger's Past is unrealistic and is one of the main contributing factors in the overall lack of attachment many players feel for their characters. You didn't get to choose your own past, why should your character?
When I make a character, I tend to go for a class, then a personality. Then I usually add in bits and pieces of the background as I go.
In my experience, when I do make a full-on character concept ahead of time, the campaign tends to work in the opposite direction. Then I'm stuck with, say, a gritty bounty hunter working with a bunch of slacker criminals, or a blink dog (long story) in a dense city information gathering campaign. -
No comments on Parker and Stone's salvo against the horrors of Jersey Shore?

Quote:I used to play a lot of CCGs. Hell, even after getting rid of 12,000 or so Versus cards, I still have a ton of Doomtown, Raw Deal, the DBZ card game, and a few others that I'm sending off to Noble Knight as soon as I can get them sorted.I've been drifting farther away from videogames lately and more back to the table. Currently I play a lot of Heroscape, Magic, Monsterpocalypse, and WoW minis and stuff like Caylus, Puerto Rico, Carcassone, etc with bigger groups. I'd kind of like to find a game like Descent that's purely co-op and generally a shorter runtime.
I'm still on the fence about mini's though. Lost interest in Heroclix though I still have a lot. Sitting on a sizable 40K army I acquired in the last year, but only half of it is together. Started Monsterpocalypse, but I didn't want to spend a lot on it. But of course, even after my friend and I sunk about $100 into boosters and starters, we never got a single Cthul monster, which was the main !@##$$%&%^$@#@% faction I wanted to play.
So! Back to the tabletop RPGs for me. -
Meh. I honestly thought Red was another vampire movie until I finally saw footage. The movie looks amusing, but not "pay money to see it" amusing.
And while Jackass is good for the occasional chuckle, I'm never paying money to see it. -
Yes, actually. It lessens a bit in the high levels when I tend to be flying over everything. But in the low levels, if it's a reasonable mob I will stop the muggings, CoT rituals and the like.
Don't know if you know what he's talking about or not, but anyway...

Quote:Never said the US is "soft" on crime. But I don't think our current justice system works either.Ok, all you people who are blathering on about how "soft" we are on crime...exactly what color is the sky in the world where you live? Because in the United States, the rate of violent crime has decreased over the last 20 years and now stands about where it was in the early 1970s, and the decline is continuing. The same holds true for non-violent crimes.
If we're soooo damned soft on crime, why does the US have the highest incarceration rate in the world? According to the linked article, the US has only 5% of the world's population, but almost 25% of the world's prisoners. Yeah, that's REAL soft on crime.
Quote:There are some parts of the world where drinking alcohol is a crime. I enjoy a beer or 2 every now and then. What do I do when the "superhero" from a "dry" country shows up and demands I stop drinking...or else?
Quote:Hell, there are places where **** victims are stoned to death, for being "adulterers" for "letting" themselves get *****. Thank $deity that a Somalian "superhero" can now kill...er, I mean "bring justice to"...**** victims...er, I mean "adulterous criminals"...around the world.
Quote:Hooray for juvenile revenge fantasies masquerading as strong moral convictions and being "tough on crime".
I'd be tough on everything though, people have been caught up on crime in the thread, is all. -
Could be interesting.
Central PA here. We mainly rotate between Pathfinder/D&D 3.5 and Shadowrun. We just started Rogue Trader, and we're looking into DC Mutants & Masterminds. -
Quote:A dead criminalDo you seriously think you could solve anything by killing criminals?
Crime is not in the neighborhood of being the highest danger to humanity.
-is no longer capable of committing crimes
-is no longer a burden on society.
I'm not saying crime prevention alone is enough to solve all of man's problems, mind you. But it's a step in the right direction. -
Haha, good guess. But I wouldn't get rid of everyone. Just the unproductive scum of society. And my standing theory is that once the world learns what I'm doing, the people I haven't got to yet should shape up so that I -don't- have to go after them.
-
Hehe. Interesting article.
If I ever acquired a decent level of superpowers, while materialism is always fun, and I have no problem with fascism as long as I'd be making the rules, I'd actually set out to make the world a better place. The problem would be those that disagreed with my methods. -
Agreed. I think Sam is more entertaining when he's not Sam, like when he's possessed and acting like the entity that's possessing him, or he's enraged for whatever reason. Just not drunk, drunk Sam is sort of painful.
I do like season 6 Sam's "What?! Me? I'm not hiding anything! Why would do you think I'm a cold-hearted ******* now? Nooo, everything's fine!" >.> -
Quote:Ahdunno, zombie Transformers?...would anybody care to explain to me how zombies could possibly be the least bit threatening to the Transformers?...
Unlike Kirkman who sent logic screaming out the window for the Marvel Zombies series, I have a little more faith in Abnet and Lanning. The story is so utterly left field it just might be the most awesome comic ever released in January 2011. -
