Quote:Nope, but I'll give you all a choice:I am also happy with the Notice to 40 threads conversion rate. I guess that means the quote you are referring to is:
"There's a sucker born every minute." or "Every crowd has a silver lining."
Basically what I'm seeing of player reaction in this thread is what happened when they changed the thread "tier 2 to tier 3" and "tier 3 to tier 4" conversions from costing billions to "mere" millions. Yes, it is better than the previous rate, but it isn't at all "good". -
Quote:So how is being able to convert a previous tiers worth of mats punishment at all?Not really. A single Notice of the Well (Tier 3 component) is being valued at two Tier 1 components.Quote:I love the Notice of the Well conversion to 40 Threads. This gives a pretty plausible way to do Incarnate advancement for those who hate the Trials but don't mind TFs.
I guess P.T. Barnum was right. -
Quote:This is from the latest patch notes on the test server. If it is the same mission, then it might be fixed with the next live patch:its the aid your powers division team one in praetoria. I understand lots of people are having problems with it but i feel that a 3 day response time is unacceptable
Or you could go back to the contact and autocomplete the mission. -
Quote:This is a needlessly punishing conversion rate joining with the Thread Uncommon->Rare and Rare->Very Rare rates, the Shards->Threads rate, any of the component breakdown rates, and the Inf->Prestige conversion rate.Incarnate Components
- Added direct conversion recipes for the following:
- Notice of the Well converts into 40 Incarnate Threads
- Favor of the Well converts into 100 Incarnate Threads
A Notice of the Well should directly convert to a Thread Rare component, not 2 common thread components. Getting a Notice of the Well is real time restricted to a 7 day period already. Getting a Favor of the Well is time restricted to 14 days.
Now, if the Notice of the Well + 60 threads converted to Thread Rare Component, that might be acceptable. Following that logic, a Favor of the Well + 120 threads should convert to a V. Rare component. - Added direct conversion recipes for the following:

Quote:Yes, NCsoft's coffer's not Paragon Studios. Just like that competitor's superhero MMO that the development studio is getting sold off. I take it you've never worked for a multi-national company before. You two are so far off base that it's amazing. Putting aside the obvious political correct agenda here for a moment, I did not say NC Soft was wrong for contributing the $5,000,000 to Japan relief. READ IT AGAIN.
For years, we have been told that the budget was too small to allow them to contribute ANY resources to bases.
Yet, when relief is needed elsewhere, however legit it is, money magically appears in the coffers.
Paragon Studios has its own budget, that budget is dictated to them by NCsoft. So while NCsoft might be able to donate large sums of money, Paragon Studios has to work with a smaller amount of money.
Yes and NCsoft doesn't have anything to do with the daily development of the game. -
Quote:I experience the same issues. I can say I get the same problem with a different area too.I ran the Verify and there were no problems with the installation.
I'm experiencing crashes in both trials on a regular basis. If I don't quit and restart the game after every trial, I almost invariably experience a crash on the second trial. The type of crash varies: I have experienced all of the following:
- A crash with a dialog that asks me to describe what I was doing which sends the report to NCsoft.
- A crash that sends a report to Microsoft.
- A sound loop crash.
- A crash that has a dialog that tells me that it's about to crash and asks whether I want to continue or exit.
- A dialog that tells me there is a corrupt .pigg file (not always the same one).
- (Rarely) Windows tells me a bad instruction was executed.
- The game exits straight out to Windows without any warning at all.
I have updated my drivers. I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE (driver version 270.61, and the nVidia site tells me it's at the most recent version).
I notice (with Task Manager) that the memory footprint of the game increases over time, and I also notice that right before the crash the game begins to slow down, as if thrashing.
These things and the wide variety of crashes make me believe that the game client is running out of memory. The .pigg files are probably being reported falsely as corrupt because the game is running out of memory reading them in.
These are all indications of a memory leak, perhaps in one of the powers that's used over and over in the trials by one of the Praetorian clockwork.
I haven't really experienced crashes in other content, including regular TFs and missions. It's certainly possible that the leak is always there, but is especially bad during trials because the large numbers of players and power invocations.
However, the crashes seem to happen more often in Lambda than in BAF. I've been involved with several attempts for the Master of Lambda, which makes it take much longer than normal. Most of those attempts have ended in crashes.
After 3 hours or around 80 uses of Destiny Total Core Invocation, the game crashes for me. This happens on both my desktop and my laptop. The laptop reports that it has run out of virtual memory when it does. -

Quote:It has given me errors for that particular type of bind before.I've never had an issue like that using nested quotes with binds. In most cases, it's the ONLY way some things will even work. For example, when programming multiple commands using $$, the quotes are required around the entire string, but some commands within the string might require quotes as well. The game is actually pretty good about dealing with the quotes.
In short, my channel binds (even in my default bind files) look exactly the same as described above, and they work just fine. -

What zone?
What is the level range of the mission?
What -exactly- is the problem you are experiencing?
I couldn't find the mission you are talking about.

If you didn't get the automatic email response, you might want to check the NCsoft support site, and log into that to see if you got any response there:

Edit:
Yes, also check your email spam filter.
Edit2:
Unless you are skipping the meaning of these questions, we -might- be able to help, or at least help you pose your support question a bit better. -

Did you get the automatic response? If not there is something wrong.
If you are giving the GMs as much info as you are giving us, I doubt they can help you. I know that I can't tell what mission you are talking about. Quote:Yeah, I have two binds for my favorite global channel (SG channel, name removed to protect its privacy):One needs to ask here: Is it really important that the local name and level of the character I'm logged-in as be spammed every single time I say something in that global channel?
/bind shift+enter beginchat /send "Group Channel"
/bind control+enter beginchat /send "Group Channel" [$name - $level $archetype]
Shift+enter gets far more use than control+enter.
By the way, the way you are using quotes WILL confuse the game. It will read what you did as:Quote:Just to confirm it should look something like this
/bind <key> "beginchat /send "Defiant Events EU" ($name:$level) "
/bind <key> "beginchat /send" <error second string> <error third string>
In other words you gave the bind command too many parameters. -
Quote:While I sympathize for your situation, the policy was clear before they put it in place. Ideally, they should have checked global names and made sure that duplicate names were not possible from the time the EU servers launched. I don't think that hindsight is going to help you. The best thing to do going forward is to make sure it doesn't happen again.Confirmation from a support GM that I lost my global to an inactive NA account!
@Coolio is not available as of the territory merge. Because: @Coolio is in use on an inactive account.
I also note that GM Lloyd didn't say the account was banned (and wasn't likely to) or only recently inactive (again, they don't give details like that due to privacy concerns).
What you are asking for isn't likely to happen. I'm not saying that it will never happen, just that it is unlikely at this point. It would take a while to design, test, and notify people before such a change could occur. Given everything else going on (work on Issue 21 and beyond), doing that will be difficult. -
Quote:I think I have to repeat myself: I hear there is a bridge in Brooklyn that is for sale.Did you guys NOT hear Black Scorpion via U-Stream?
AND I QUOTE,
"Seriously guys? It's a Gladiator badge!"
They never cared about it because it was a Gladiator badge. It was always known. It took that shove to get it addressed. Noobs.
(it was after this the badge was updated.)
With the level of trust you are displaying, it will be a great opportunity to own that historical landmark. You might be able to get tolls and set yourself up for life.
To think that a comment on ustream prompted the change shows a level of naïveté that I've not seen on these forums for the 75 months I've been a subscriber to this game. Either that or I weep for the competence of some of the past/present staff at Paragon Studios. Given that I don't really believe that people at Paragon Studios are incompetent, that leaves me with a problem.
Was it on Synapse's desk and just never attended to? Perhaps. If Black Scorpion didn't get told about it, then someone failed to tell him when he took over for Synapse. -
Quote:Trial accounts should not have conflicted with any EU Global Name.I think the not knowing whether or not a trial account has replaced your global name hurts the most, I may have missed the point somewhere but I still fail to see how loosing 3,4,5,6 + year vets benefits the game rather than deleting trial accounts, and until I get an explanation to why then I'm afraid I am going to treat the the game and the devs (and that includes the community mods) with the same respect that has been showed to me.
Unless your global name was Trial-(whatever), you need not fear that a trial account conflicted with you.Quote:For those asking about conflicts with Trial global handle names: All trials global handles will be renamed to "Trial-[RANDOM STRING] once the global auth merge has completed.
I'd agree with and fully support this suggestion.Quote:Yes I know this time around trial globals got purged, but new trials are still getting active globals, IMO trial accounts should get a generic "@Trial xxxxxx" global and no global rename token until they subscribe...
You do know that it took over a year from it supposedly getting introduced to the live servers to actually work, right?Quote:Set a one time inactive timeout like /chantimeout is for global chat channels, and free up all globals inactive longer than this timeout, simultaneously repurge trials and issue global rename tokens to everyone, that way anyone who reactivated or is active keeps their global and everyone els then gets a chance to change theirs if required.
And if it is being held by an active account that doesn't want to change it? How do you know that they aren't active right now? There are settings to block out any global emails or just to allow people from their friends list to email them. I know that I use those settings to prevent RMTs from bothering me.Quote:If my NA original @global counterpart was on an active account we could then have a one on one chat over who had the global name, we may even come to an ingame trade agreement over it...
How do you know it is dead or inactive? I'm positive that I could set myself up in game to appear to be inactive/offline for a few months (or longer). Unless someone actually stumbled on me I would, for all intents, appear to be gone from the game. Heck I could even hide from everyone on the live servers and be on the test server. Given the lack of people on it most of the time, I could go weeks/months without seeing anyone but still be an active subscriber. You can't go by forum access either, as a lot of players don't come here either.Quote:As it is, as an EU veteran I lost my @global to a dead/inactive NA account.
I've been told in the past around 2 years is the average. Thanks to some past military decisions, that could be up to four years for some people though.Quote:I think it should look at active accounts first. Six months inactive (or maybe a bit more, what's a military average tour of duty? While soldiers can play MMOs overseas now, not all choose to)
Hold it right there. This change is not about who is "better and more deserving". NCsoft made this choice on financial and technical grounds. I'm 100% positive that if there was a way for NCsoft to have everyone keep their global name, they would have done it. I'm absolutely sure that they think every customer was deserving to keep the global name they chose. That just wasn't possible though.Quote:I do not think I'm better and more deserving of my @global than someone from England or France because I'm American, but the current system NCSoft has for this merger tells me I am better and more deserving.
It likely wasn't financially possible to maintain a separate server list and continue keeping the game open. It is likely that the amount of EU subscribers is a small percentage of the NA subscribers. So they chose this route instead of following Lineage's lead and shutting down the whole continent (Lineage 1's NA servers are shutting down for good next month). So instead of not having the European population at all, some EU players had their names changed.
So while I might feel for those EU players affected by this change, it IS better than the alternative. -
Okay, just for a sanity check, what if the player with your EU Global Name IS an active subscriber?
-
Then you should be able to switch, then log into an alt of the group. Your alt should get the super leader position. If not, there is always the /petition command.
-
Quote:How are you to determine if an account is permanently inactive? I know the developers aren't psychic. There are different levels of banning, so if you tag all banned accounts you risk getting accounts that have gotten a wrist slap (72 hour ban). And placing EU accounts over banned and perma-inactive accounts would have minimized it more so.
And what if even banning those accounts didn't get "your" name back? What then? Continue to whittle it down to who has subscribed longest or who has had the name longest? I'm pretty sure the game doesn't hold the info of when was the last name change. -
The answer is... it depends on several things.
Is it a solo SG with just your alts? Then yes, it goes to the next character that logs in that qualifies.
If it is a solo SG without alts, then you'll just not be able to access the base.
If it is a group where everyone has left the game but you, then it will temporarily transfer to another character, but when you log in with an active character it should revert to you.
If it is an active group with multiple players, the best bet is to manually transfer ownership. -
Quote:I seriously doubt this will ever happen. Sorry, but at this stage the only constructive advice I can give is to put the change behind you.My suggestion:
A simple fix to this would be after the reactivation week to issue all active accounts a global rename token and simultaneously purge any (NA) globals that are on inactive accounts (and trials) that were NOT activated during the reactivation period.
They will not change any full accounts. There is a reason that the last time the name purge happened that it only affected accounts lower than level 6. It was to minimize the amount of accounts affected, just like this change was intended to do. -
Quote:Simpler method than the above though:In the past (like many others) I have set binds that show which of my current character's I am playing, in server channels. For example Defiant Events : (Nine Claws:50).
Now that this channel has changed to Defiant Events EU, I need to change the bind, so that I can type my message without having to scroll left each time, to add EU into the original bind.
I can remember using prompts such as /chansend, begin chat, $target, $level, bind * but cannot remember exactly what to put and where to put it, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
/showbind <key>
Where <key> is your current keybind.
/bind <key> beginchat /send <channel name> <whatever you want for defaults>
If <channel name> has spaces, you need to enclose it in quotes.
The <whatever you want for defaults> can include $name, $level, $archetype, $origin, etc.
With your example:
/bind <key> beginchat /send "Defiant Events EU" ($name:$level)
This is correct, except where it saves the file.Quote:In game type /bindsavefile nineclaws.txt
This will save all your binds to the file nineclaws.txt in the /data folder of your CoH install
Then find the file and edit with notepad to correct the names of the global channels that have changed.
Then in-game type /bindloadfile nineclaws.txt -
I have only 1 character with the MoLambda. So much for the deterministic way to get the rare component for getting that badge.

Quote:To assume that Black Scorpion didn't know of this borders on the realms of credulity. I'm sorry, I just don't buy it.Yeah, I mentioned it to him via PM earlier in the week then addressed it again in U-Stream. He followed me up on it, like Posi and Second Measure did the arm wrestle ;D
From may 8, 2009 (two years ago):
There are still badge issues lists from 2007 mentioning the 5th column gladiator.Quote:-----------------------------------------
Badge issues:
-----------------------------------------
Updated for I14.
Though compiled by Snow_Globe and MadScientist, this is considered a community list. We're merely collecting and organizing the issues.
-----------------------------------------
Counts, Accounts, Collecting and Quality of Life:
* Anniversary badges (and thus the 5th Column Gladiator) should be account-based. They should be like Verterans badges, awarding accounts that existed at certain times. Newer characters should not be penalized with uncollectible badges, particularly for a player-based action of having an active account.
-----------------------------------------
Gladiator:
* The 5th Column gladiator is only for the first and second anniversary CoH badges. Can this be generalized so it continues to be earnable? For example, when you add the 5-year badge to the system, update the gladiator requirement to the 5-year and the 4-year. An alternate solution: make the Gladiator a reward to purchase with Merits only during the time the anniversary badge awards, similar to how older Holiday badges have alternate earning methods during their event runs.
