Quote:With that in mind, I have some doubts about the new difficulty system, and am eager to see it in practice.
I agree sometimes the changes they make seem to have no real effect on farming, and sometimes they are massive. I am still shocked they installed a no xp button has any other game ever done that?
Would be interesting that on the backend they have it so drops are based on the number of players on maps, and not the number of mobs or something to that effect.
so sure you can see if your scrapper can take on a mission set for 8, but you still only get the drops as if set for 1
I don't think they are really doing this, but wouldn't surprise me, and short of top doc I doubt anyone has the statical wherewithal to see it happen. -
Quote:Ohh there will be meaning, it means that those that have ******* and moaned for years finally get the same badge rewards that we got years ago by working with the tools we had.All these changes in badge requirements will pretty much make those badges meaningless unless loopholes are closed and kills that grant rewards only count for badge credit.
yay everyone wins! -
Quote:I said self imposed, you even quoted it ... we all follow the developer imposed rules. if not play exactly to their desire. The problem is that the rules and regulations are set out by the developers, not us.
Quote:
Even though badge collecting is a fraction of the player base, most of those that I know of that collect badges would find collecting badges while not playing to be anti-ethical. There is around a dozen players that I know that think otherwise though.
Ohh also

Quote:Let's say for the sake of argument that there is 50 on the North American servers (I have no basis for comparison for the European servers). Given that there is at least 100,000 accounts on the North American servers, I think I'm right in saying "irregular user".
I hope the 75% cuts to some of the epic badges makes them more to your liking. -

Quote:First I am not complaining about the unspecified upcoming changes to badge requirements. I might not find them warranted or necessary; but no I am not complaining.A couple replies in one:
I think both of you both are missing the point: If you are complaining about the epic healing or damage badges and if they are being reduced, then you are complaining about the amount of time you deliberately "wasted" using an exploit to get a reward with out effort on your part. By AFK farming, you were not playing to get the badges. If you used the arena farms for the healing badges, then you knowingly used a bug in the game to get credit for heals on targets with full health.
I think that anyone who knowing uses an exploit loses all grounds for objections.
One could easily come to the conclusion that all time spent on this game is wasted, so I am not sure how I chose to waste it is any better or worse than how anyone else chooses to waste their time. As far as effort goes, I submit that as much effort goes in to studying the game mechanics and how to maximize returns on time wasted as there is put into other aspects of game play.
I disagree I didn't feel I was dooming anything; just speculating which is no different that what anyone else is doing at this point.
Quote:I think a better way to put your statement is the way people that share your opinion seem to want to use against those that want reasonable requirements: "You want teh badges NAO!"
People that want reasonable badge requirements do not want the badges now, they want to play the game and earn rewards for playing the game. That you and others have subverted that to mean get all the badges "as quick as possible" using whatever means needed to achieve that goal is the fault of the people doing this, not the developers or the regular users.
I want the badges, sooner is better than later. I don't see why that point of view is wrong; can you please tell me how I am playing the game incorrectly? I play; I have fun, thought that was the point. I choose not to limit myself with self imposed rules and regulations to achieve these goals, nor do I role play or anything else that I feel might limit my efficiency. I don't slight you for doing this, I just ask the same.
Also I don't feel I am an irregular user. -
Quote:I see your point, and to some extent even agree, as I stated above I no longer have an issue with them trivializing badges and by extension badge hunting. However based on recent statements and actions I do disagree that the changes made will be anything other than trivializing them. There are very few badges that require skill or effort to get, most are just a timesink. Which the game then becomes one of efficient use of time. Having sunk the time already I am not offended or effected by the pending nerfs. This is a game we're talking about. It's supposed to be fun. Sure, it should have challenges, even some extremely difficult ones. But the challenges should be intentional and they should be part of a thoughtfully designed framework. Accolade requirements like having to get 10 million points of damage or defeat 500 summoned illusionists were designed without an understanding of what was reasonable in regular gameplay. It's the right decision to tone them down. I don't want to see them trivialized, but I'm confident Synapse won't do that. I think there's a happy medium that's possible between stupidly difficult and stupidly trivial.
If anything I would look forward to see what time difference is made over all; it took me 33 months of fairly regular game play to get the epic badges, wonder how much faster it will be doable after what ever changes take effect. -
I am not overly concerned about the badge nerfing now that I think about it, I have most all of them except oddly for a few of the "just have to show up" badges. I am sure any new badges will be a joke as well.
So in closing to add to this I want them to nerf the anniversary badges and make them obtainable too, and as easily as any other to be nerfed badge. -
Quote:I can see it now, all badges lowered to 1 "thing" needed. Just like MA so now we are all gold medal winners for just showing up. I still hold that some badges, hell most badges should be hard to get, and a few insanely hard to get (or unreasonable as you put it). but I know that isn't popular thought.Maybe, maybe not.
There are a handful of badges that really are unreasonable, but if they employ the same idiotic carpet-bomb approach that they did with the MA badges, it will be bad.
as far as NEEDING the accolade bonuses for end game stuff, pshaw I say most of my toons don't have them and play just fine w/o the extra 10 points of endurance. -
easiest way would be to use a different toon in the SG that doesn't have those explore badges.
other than that visit all the spots again, and hope you get the x,y,z right as you won't know if you hit it or not until you see the sg beacon badge. -
shrug, I'll hold any real comment till I see what is actually changing, but this doesn't sound like a good thing to me.

wonder if I can lose both my _s now ?

Quote:If that's what you think it looks like, you're doing it wrong - and I'm not talking about the teleporting.
Off to investigate proper air humping techniques, styles, and procedures. Thank goodness I live in a town that brings out only the best in air humping. http://tinyurl.com/r7o2ng -
Rolls up a goldielox on Victory right now !
Off topic: (or is it?) does the new (bugged?) base/mission T-port animation look like you are air humping?
I died laughing when I was standing behind a salesman in WW and decided to port to my base right fast! -
36 minutes? so I am guessing the repairmen "bug" is just dumb luck these days? I have been on STFs that took an hour to kill the towers and other where it was minutes. I assume you take out the green and red towers to kill his heal and phase ?

[QUOTE=TREZEN;2125032]Quote:I am all up for doing it again, and I got a couple ideas that may shave another 30 seconds off. I feel so useless w/o assemble the team.So now dUmb records are:
24:04 LGTF(DELETE)
20:50 ITF
39:39 STF (oddly 0 deaths but not a Master run)
14:00 Katie Hannon (post fix)
New Dumb record is now 21:27 for the LGTF
TEAM: TREZEN, Anaku Sunum, Trance, 23X, Om3n, Lady-x, Smilin Joe, and..... who the hell was the 8th.....
but anywho didnt get a good screen shot so i guess well just have to do it again. -
Quote:I admit that I haven't been keeping a very close eye on CO, I tohught it was a PC based game, not an Xbox game, how odd.If it's being released for the xbox it's likely to be released under 'games for windows live' - which means it would have to be as terrible as the shadowrun game in order to fail, since Microsoft is backing it.
I couldn't imagine playing a MMO with an xbox controller. all the typing and all... -
I never got my mattress! can I have two?

Quote:If he does crafting, he will be stuck being at Steel Canyon, or will have to zone in and out of his SG base to use its crafting table, or will need to get Field Crafter (which takes quite a little investment itself). That's a fair bit of hassle, and the income from crafting commons likely won't come close to what he can earn farming.
.
I am a crafter, I put all my salvage in the base and every few days I craft ~200 IOs and then it is just a matter of shuffling them 10 at time from the base portal to WW in talos I clear ~5 mil a day on average putting up 20-30 a day with a individual profit of ~300K craft for ~200K sell for 550K+ -
-
I am not sure how to measure this. Is it the total amount spent on the toon plus some amount liquid on hand?
I "feel" rich when I have enough on hand to buy anything I may want so ~1 billion; however by the time I have that much on hand I don't really want for much.
the few 50s I have cost ~1.5 billion to slot up. (and may cost over 2x that now I remember getting a pair of PO +3 def for 350 mil and now those would cost a billion each)
after that inf is just a way to track time for efficient use; < 2 mill an hour and I am slacking > 5 mill an hour and I am lucky.
so I will say I feel rich when I have earned a total of 2.5 billion. -

If it's a strait up solo base, you don't need more than one TP pad, because you can just swap out the beacons as you need them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I went with the 2x2 double teleporter room in my solo base. One pad is set to Atlas & Talos (get to the center of the world; get to the green line + wentworths + origin shops), and the other one is for switching around for whatever zones I'm doing arcs in.
I too have a solo base now, and I went with all 11 TP pads, I couldn't stand having to pause, go into edit mode, delete a beacon, add a beacon, exit edit mode and then port. all on the name of saving time to get to a specific zone. I do wish you could fit all 11 pads in one room, I have 8 in the big one and that room is 70% empty now. Also it would be nice if the Ouro pillar could be placed in the tport room instead of being stuck off in a control room. -
I should be there, I like punching monkeys ... with my fists

Quote:I agree I16 should go a long way toward getting farmers out of MA and back in the 'real' world.
I'm eagerly looking forward to bumping up the spawn size on my fire/rad and rowing through the ocean of zombies in his farm map.
I look for to i16 for the same reason.
zombies? what are you farming ? -
the way I read it is you still get a roll every 5 minutes, but now it is every five minutes even if you defeat someone every 30 seconds.
-
can't; that's why they said to make sure you have wha you want set before the switch.
