Coh has need to double or triple its tilesets (and not just new colors ala cov) since, well -forever-!

I would love to see all AV encounters remade over in the way the Doc Vahz was. There is a couple preatorian missons that take place on a space station but you have no external views! it would be so cool if some of the corridors were transparent tubes that would be weighless. Imagine a fight against Anti-matter where a knockback would send people literally flying across the room!

oh and if a dev is reading this I am still waiting for my pony!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, yes and errr... sorta yes. :-D

Yes for the lovely idea (though I am sure the devs are tired of hearing of it now) about creating more tilesets (lots and lots more).

Yes for the weightless careening out of control knockbacks in a space station. Heck make that an entire zone or a tileset for space station missions. :-D

No Pony for you. Unless it is a Travel Power Pool we all can use.

    Something like:

Horsing around - You channel the spirit of a pony and give a mule style double-kick to one opponent
Pretty Pony - Your cute summoned pony distracts mobs in an area from attacking you cause it'sjust suooooo.. quuutteee.
Summon Pony - Ride around on your cute pony (travel power)
Stampede - A herd of ponies, horses and donkeys stampede trampling you, your teammates and all enemies in a cloud of dust, hooves and equines.

Its scary when I can say 'that large room usually at the end of a warehouse map' or 'that room in a council base with all the water pools' or 'the two lab style rooms which are known as the rooms of doom, because they usually get teams killed' and people instantly know what I'm talking about.

If the devs are going to shuffle players into missions then more times need to spent on making missions more diverse in appearence. What is the point of revamping the zones when people aren't inclined to street sweep and thus cannot enjoy the effort gone into street spawns and scripted events.

I doubt many people are even aware of the special Ballista spawns in St. Martial because who these days bothers to go hunting in the zones? It is known about, but when people do mention it on the forums you suddenly have alot of folks acting surprized that its there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mission customization with cut scenes, NPCs acting out sequences and unique location appearances are definitely something we'd all appreciate. Kind of get tired of yet another office build from the same Public Construction Company. I understand resource limitations and such. But hey voicing desires here. :-D

Something has to be done to bring back hunting in hazard zones as a valid alternative to missions in the eyes of the player community.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Definitely, which is why I'm an avid fan of new types of noninstanced, outdoor missions. I'd also love to see them bring over some of the zonewide events from PvP zones and put those into PvE zones.

Dressing up the zone and giving it new contacts really doesn't make the zone that much more used. It just makes the doors there used.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aye indeed. I definitely would be geeked if there were more outdoor objectives to accomplish.

    Rampage Missions (Outdoor)
One thing that comes to mind are Rampage missions that you get by being in the vicinity of such a thing. Instead of having static spawns of baddies stand around all the time, at random and relatively frequently some of them break off and start terrorizing the neighborhood running around hitting pedestrians and breaking glass and shooting things and so on. You receive the mission by being near it and then you head on down and take them down a notch. That would be a fun outdoor thing.

Think of a small Council Assault squad acting as a "distraction" for another mission that you get once you defeat the mobile interacting spawn.

    Guardian Mission (Instanced)
Opposite of Mayhem missions. You are the superhero tasked with stopping a large group of superpowered villains (or a single supervillain) tearing up the city along with many minions. You have a few NPC allies as well. You job is to stop them.

Enable extreme knockback on the player toon along with ragdoll physics if possible so that the villains can then knock you around the city and "allow" you to destroy it without feeling like a heel. Would feel like classic comic book superhero battles.

Also increase speed of travel powers and speed of knockbacks in these missions to give more of a beefed up battle.

In addition you would need to deal with submissions like after dealing with one villain his VG member is assaulting the bank and you have to get there quickly and stop them.

    And so on.

I know I know. Fantasy land. But just wanted to mention it. Maybe it clicks maybe it doesn't.
  4. This was probably mentioned already however, what the hey...

    Did you know...

that you didn't have 1 hp remaining minimum on falling damage so you could die simply by jumping off of a tall building?
  5. "Spikey" Hair option for "Normal" Head using "Chiseled" default scale results in two small clippings which makes it seem a small patch of hair behind the ear is missing.

"Hairy" (or was it "Fur") legs option that you have in "Monstrous" legs is not available for regular legs. However, "Reptile" and "Plant" are available. Please make these available thanks.

    Many thanks Devs and Jay.

Edit: I will try to post a screenshot as I get the opportunity.

Here are a few screen shot I got from the Beta ending. How do you get the labels and everything else to capture?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The command is /screenshotui 1 to make the trays and names show up in screenshots. Use 0 instead of 1 to turn it off again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or do what I do, do it both ways at once:

    /bind F1 "screenshotui 1 $$ screenshot $$ screenshotui 0 $$ screenshot"

This binds my F1 key to take 2 screenshots rapidly, one with the UI and one without. Good for times when you're not sure if you wnt the UI on or not. Yeah, it takes up more space, but I prefer it this way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Should have thought of that. Thank you for mentioning it. It is going into my bind file now.

    B) they all had a power pool called resistance..prolly due to
global defense cut. They left those hero's back to patrol
kings row where it's safer. Notice theres no fire or ice
tanks in the freedom phalanx, too squishy

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I think Resistance is something along the lines of the Giant Monster code. There was no way my level 8 Brute could consistently hit a level 50, but I managed to land a few blows nevertheless.

I could be wrong, of course.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was specifically stated by Positron that they were using Giant monster code for the Freedom Phalanx and the Longbow Agents.
  10. Oh and let us not forget Back Alley Brawler's Uber-Mega-School-Teacher attack. I got seriously schooled.

One hit and I cleared about 3-4 buildings ala classic superhero combat. I think my apex was at about 300+ yards and landed about 400 some yards away. It was amazing! Simply amazing!

We need more enemies in the game that can ragdoll physics hit you several hundred yards away in pretty parabolic arcs crashing into buildings.
  11. Who was Agent Sligh (sp?) On Mercy 9 (or was it Mercy 7)? You were one tough opponent. I saw you kiting us and fighting and using a fair bit of tactics that were a blast to play against.

Also the other opponent, Manticore was a tough nut too. Teleport, attack, teleport, glue arrow, teleport, wait for you to catch up, teleport, and so on.

Other opponents were mostly in too much heavy lag scenarios to get a good feel for their combat style.

Anyone that considers Spawn and Punisher to be "good guys" and "heroes" has no reason to be commenting on comic books at all. Unless you definition of good guy is killin people?

And for the record, I'm not against more costume pieces in CoH, quite the opposite in fact. I'm against the truly villainous stuff being put in CoH. There should be costume options exclusive to both sides.

And WoW shares the same server/client/etc/ and yet the Horde and Alliance look different. Go figure.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would have to disagree in general as books can't be judged by their covers an costumes are merely a superficial choice.

I will agree some too. I think things like the Arachnos cape and the Freedom Phalanx emblem and so on should be exclusive items that a character can unlock at the higher levels and when they choose a particular path in the storyline.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No...obviously if you kill anyone you cannot be a hero. Screw the police and the military. They must be all pure evil since they kill people when they have to! You have opened my eyes! No longer will I think or Police or Military are heroes that keep us safe!

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's a bit of a difference between killing people because one has to, and killing people because one chooses to.

I'm only marginally familiar with the Punisher and Spawn (in that I know they exist and they sometimes kill people), so I'm not sure where they fall in those categories.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Punisher and Spawn take the law into their own hands, they dish out justice as they see fit. They try their best to do what is right in their minds. They are vigilantes. The word for their type of protagonist is Anti-Hero.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They have species variations. It's kind of difficult to mistake a Tauren for a Gnome.

The WoW character creator doesn't provide for a lot of options, since that's not its strength. The CoH character creator is rather more significant.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As Kellis said. Also, who the heck said the Horde are the bad guys. The entire lore supports it as a conflict of two sets of cultures and races nothing different than say the modern world.

Also keep in mind that in WoW you can as a Warlock find some seriously creepy clothes but the same clothing can be worn by a Mage in most cases as well. Heck the Warlock epic gear is greatly sought for by Mages.

The clothes do not make the humanoid the actions and persona do.

Here's what us working class wanna know! Is this going to go on throughout the day or will I log in at 6pm PST and find my toon gone and event over with?

I mean its a great event and I would like to take part in it, but I'd be pretty bummed out if it was over before I got home from work.

Yes I love CoH/CoV but not enough to skip work cause Statesman and Lord Recluse aren't gonna pay my rent

    [/ QUOTE ]

Indeed what time frame is this going to be on? I am concerned about the same thing. Anyone know? Devs? Hello?
  16. [ QUOTE ]
OK - here's the most likely outcome...

If you own both games, you get all options - the new CoV sets will be accessible for your heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Awesome! Amazing! Fantastic! Thank you very much.
  17. Yeah. Liked it. Had character.
  18. I intend to simply wait and look at the item I like. Not in a big rush. Although I hope the prices will be posted soon, especially with all the floods of CoH+CoV price questions.

    And shiny sig, coh_pepsiman.
  19. While the current comic isn't quite what I hoped for, a comic that I would be very interested in would be a hefty graphic novel set around the time Statesman comes back to clean up town. Back when he wore the domino mask.

Following that the novel would chronicle parts of his life over the next few decades (and costume changes) using time slices of important but linked events to develop the character, the personality and the legend. Also showing when he first met his closest allies among other tidbits, all of which set the stage for current day Paragon and create the sense of epic iconic superheroism that comes with it. The tale could be told through the eyes of a third party observers.

In addition perhaps with some allusions to Lord Recluse and Arachnos forming in the background over time in subtle ways would be very nice too (setting the stage for the next issue).

Basically, I am thinking something in the style of "Marvels" and "Kingdom Come" (these are two favorites if you couldn't tell). The writing could lend itself well if it were written by Kurt Busiek and Mark Waid, the folks that did the aforementioned novels in the first place. And it wouldn't be complete without Alex Ross's artwork.
  20. Arena sounds better and better the more I hear about it. Thanks. Hope to see it soon.

While we are on the topic of entertaining combat.

For the future, how about an exaggerated increase to Knockback. Where you actually fly off into parabolic arcs for several (dozen) yards. It would certainly add the classic superhero feel where the heroes get thrown far and get stopped by objects like buildings leaving cracks in the wall (a texture overlay that decays after a few minutes?) or going through (breakable environment). This need not be very often.

On topic of cracks, how about cracks in the wall and certain breakable components added to environments such as walls. Especially cool if you can find hidden areas or just simply go through it as a shortcut to a later area. And a fun way to find it would be to get thrown through it.

    "I got a rock"

Amazingly fun event. Not a time, influence or anything else sink. Just plain halloweeny fun. Nice treats and very nice tricks. Thank you Cryptics Studio.

    Idea (may have been mentioned):

Make the (the incredibly cool) "rock" the accolade power for the halloween badges. Usual 25 min recharge time. Heck even bump down the damage if you like.

To balance it for those that didn't get the badges... perhaps an alternate badge combination that requires more work than the halloween event (which just about any of the normal badges require).

Thanks again. I had a blast.

    RP White Pages

    Argo Takeshi - Magic-Scrapper - Virtue - Level 14
Thorin Lutgehr - Natural Tanker - Virtue - Level 4

Always up for a spot of RP. Catch me around. Read the "Virtue Roleplayers sound off" thread for a short description of the personas of these two characters.
  24. Argo Takeshi - Magic Scrapper - Level 14 currently (Virtue)
Thorin Lutgehr - Natural Tanker - Level 4 currenlty (Virtue)

I am always open to roleplay and have fun doing it. So feel free to drop by and say hi.

Argo is the slightly mean (devlish) tongue-in-cheek angsty guy with a demon-human hybrid soul, two pasts and a single new future. He has a mean sense of humor and can be trusted to watch you back in a fight. As a former demonic Judge of the Ninth Circle and Project Coordinator for Internet Plus, he is torn inside as his good and bad halves battle it out. Depending on the current score of the "personas" he is either gathering souls or talking about needing moisturizer for his feet.

Thorin son of Balek of the clan Lutgehr, from the mountains of Mor'Hadur in the land of Eirse. Ported to the modern day when chasing an evil wizard, this Khazaad (dwarf) is very disoriented to find a plane turned on its edge; a place where demons and beasts working with men and where monsters are of metal and magnificient mage towers aplenty. He has a gruff nature and an attitude that takes no nonsense from others. Always ready to fight with a drop of a hat and to drink ale with a hearty meal. An honorable warrior exploring a new world. He hopes to find a way back to his plane.

Had great fun RPing with you folks. Thorin and Argo feel welcome.

    Hero ID Cards

Old name: Hideo Takeshi / Argo
    New name: Argo Takeshi
    Archtype: Magic Scrapper (on virtue)

A brief synopsis of the character.
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    Background:
An escaped reject from the Circle of Thorns supersoldier program. Their objective was to imbue a human with the essence of a demon (i.e. possession). However, the bindings of the summoned demon were nullfied when combined with the freewill of an exceptionally strong human soul.

Hideo Takeshi, formerly a project coordinator at a small start up firm wound up with an unbound extraplanar entity inside him. His strong soul and iron will allowed him to survive the possession by the demon Argo, resulting in a hybrid demon-human entity.

The reborn Argo Takeshi, escaped and was disoriented in Paragon City till a few of the elder heroes helped him regain coherence and sign up as another new hero to protect humanity.

The question is who will protect Hideo Takeshi's humanity for everyday is not only a fight in the world around him but within him as well. Each passing day the demonic side gets stronger as he accepts more of the "gift" making it harder to resist the evil temptations and to not become that which he fights.

    Appearance:
5' 10" male of lanky build with black unkempt hair (spikey), dark shadowed eyes and a somewhat feral face. He wears nothing but torn black dress pants that once belonged to the suit of a salaried employee. He looks human but feels a little bit something else.

    Personality:
He is not exactly polite and fighting the good fight is more just another day of combat which sometimes he relishes more than he should. His mannerisms and word choices can be gruff but he is still not above a "Thank you" or an occasional encouraging comment. He takes the daily fight as a responsibility and a duty (for if there were enough heroes the day he was kidnapped his future may have been less morbid). He can be a bit of the stereotypical dark broody type but other emotions do drift across his face resulting in many double takes. Although intrinsically a Lone Wolf he appreciates the success and effectiveness of team cooperation and sees friends and allies as vital components. He has demonic traits and so even though he dislikes demons he tends to seek them out.
