  1. I think WG re-spun would be more appropriate.

But the few who were around obviously needed to check into AA
  2. I had fun, and that was the important thing. The closed beta makes it tough to continue to keep the times open, and interest up. It won this time.

I'm glad to have been a part of Whirligig.
  3. Well if I can be Mermaid Man, then Robo gets to be Barnacle Boy.

    EEEVVIIILLLLL!!
  4. Would this count as Jaques Cousteau Cosplay?
  5. Hmm, this might get interesting.

*gets kiddie pool of Jell-O and waits for more than the glove*
  6. DAMN THEM!!

DAMN WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!!!

    I so blame them
  7. no more kitten?? no joke?

Oh, access to the shadow shard! It's a freaking cool area with a mix of drop types for 40+ characters. I don't care if it's a PvP area... just don't make it co-op. Heck, just make a hero one and a villain one. Identical except that we can't meet each other there. That's would be fine. I needs my shard

    [/ QUOTE ]

I totally agree, I know not alot of people use the Shard, but it's always fun to visit, and will correct some of the high level SF issues. I don't know if I'd want it to be a PvP zone, as cool as a flying sword duel in between islands would be, and . But maybe as a contested zone?

Put the same kind of control framework in, and missions to buff/sabatoge the other side. I'd like to see this overall for a few of the hazzard zones on heroes. Is it that farstretched an idea, that we are sending operatives in to sabatage Terra Volta? or trying to build an outpost in the Hollows? or tap the magical powers of Dark Astoria?

    sweet, look great Speedy.

Only think I'd ask, is a name fix, should be WindchillFactor, not just Windchill, if possible.

    Thanks

So does this mean we will finally be able to invite with a global name? Even if we have to right click on the global, that's still a huge step forward.
  12. Another awesome set of drawings, but I think I have to go with Aerones and Tricky Tacky.
  13. More new people? OMG

I think we are just about at our limit though. If we make anyone else have to listen to Pantsy on Vent, I think we may have to start charging 3.99 a minute and a 1.99 for each additional minute.

These have been great so far. I can't wait for mine to get done.

I love it so much I've basically dropped you deviant page into my daily webcomic cycle.

BTW on a totally unrelated note about you doing more after you are done . . . . don't you think the newly fixed computer needs some good upgrades
  15. This has been awesome to watch, and I have to say, I love some of the entries. From a CoH perspective, Tacky Tricky, and Juggertha had some pieces that reminded me of the game.
The contest as described, was to best capture the feeling of Heroes. So my vote has to go to Arctic Innocence because this totally looks like an Issiac painting.

    RUSH the RIKTI!!

Silly question, are we still filling the zone for RtR?
If so, I have an outrageous idea.

If you spread the team leaders so that you knew who everyone was. Co-ordinate the team leads to have the whole team move to RWZ2 after the first raid, and then have a few people log in alt accounts to fill the zone, or have a few people hang back from first raid.

Might take almost as much planning, but if he's a big enough pain, it may be worth it. Let him run his raid all by himself.

    RUSH the RIKTI!!

I don't know that anyone has done this, but everyone's talked about it.

Long and short, you'd need to have smaller strike teams to better plant bombs.

I totally think we could do it. I know we've gone and sat in the middle for quite a length of time. That is easily time where would could have skirted the middle and moved to bombing another section.

I thought at one point in the patch notes in was said that additional bombs increased the length of the shield being down. If that was the case, then it should be as hard as we'd think, just time consuming.

Can we convince Mew to set a date where we can try clearing all the bombs?
  18. yay, I get to be a PvP Hooligan. Now to figure out where they store the weapons on these seats, I see the soccer guys do it all the time.

Maybe it's in the weapon-space that CoX uses?
  19. doh, does that mean I have to start as a drunk cheerleader??

I'm so not shaving my legs.

It's been so hard keeping quiet about this.

Like many of you, I am an avid fan and player of this game. I've played it since launch, have multiple level 50 characters on both sides of the fence. I truly love this game and it's been an honest to god, dream come true to have the opportunity to work on it during the day and then go home and play it at night.

The thing that has excited me most about this whole deal is that I can only see great things coming for all of you guys as the players of this game. And to me, that's what this is deal is all about. Making the game awesome for as many of you as we can. That was ultimately the biggest factor in my decision to leave Cryptic and join NCSoft. All of those things that we've had to push back or write off as taking too many resources to get done in the limited time frames and limited manpower. All of the bugs or QoL issues that have been lingering for what seems like forever because the programmers were too busy fixing the major bugs. All of those really big pie in the sky ideas that we've dreamed about for so long and couldn't do because there was no one who could implement them...that's all back on the table. The sky is literally the limit. It's been really tough having to make decisions on what would be the 'best bang for the buck' and I'm really looking forward to having the recourses so that won't be such a deciding factor moving forward.

Of course, just putting more resources into the game wouldn't cut it by itself. We have a fantastic team that's been working 100% (or more in some cases) on CoH/CoV and every single one of us has made the move to stay with on this project and with this team. So now we've got a lot more recourses, the same fantastic team, the same great game to pour all our energies into, and the best bunch of players to create that content for. Personally, I've never heard of a situation like this in the game industry. It just doesn't happen.

I am completely stoked. You guys should be too. We literally would not be here without you guys.

There's going to be a period of transition as we move into the new studio, staff up, and train those new people in using our systems...but we're going to do our damnedest to make sure you guys don't notice and very shortly after that you will notice the results of this. I really wish I could talk about the things we have planned, but it's not my job...so I don't get that privilege.

All of this is still bittersweet. I have nothing but good things to say about Cryptic, they're a fantastic studio who created a fantastic game and they're now moving on to create more fantastic games. I'm truly going to miss working with them. I'm sure this was a tough decision for them to give up the controlling share of the franchise, but one thing that probably helped make it easier is that they knew their creation was being passed into the absolute best of hands. There is no other group of people in the world who care about this game and it's players like we do.

Looking forward to a very bright future for this game and all of you guys. We love you all of you. You drive us nuts sometimes, but we still love you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Awesome, so how long is that power customization gonna take?

Glad to hear you are stoked as most of us BAB. We hope that some of the creativeness that you and the rest of the devs have shown shining moments of get a much better chance to shine through.
  21. totally with ya Warface, maybe the PvP and base raids that the NC community guys want to push will get some time on the Dev schedule now.
  22. Great guide.

I've been an Ice/Fire tank since issue 2, and only recently has my SG started rolling up the Ice tanks, and most find they are loving it.

You did a good job of hitting def vs resist right on the head. I always explain it pretty much the same, it's a gamble. Step one to a defense based character, be humble. Fight 1, RNG loves you and you don't get hit; fight 2, the controller out tanks you.

As far as power choices go, I'm with you on hasten, it's not needed, but I took Super Speed and it fits in easier. That's usually my biggest complaint with builds, why hasten or recall friend, then a different travel power. For Ice, I'd almost always recommend either SJ or SS.

Permafrost totally skippable, it seems to be a more situational power than Hibernate, and there's no oh <bleep> to it. Even more skippable if you have super speed.

Taunt - I have made tons of different builds, and this always seems to fall WAY later than other tanks would. For a long time I ran without taunt (then switched and took it as the last power with no slots just so people wouldn't complain), but my suggestion would be to take it in the mid 30s. You're going to need it on teams to pull those guys in emergency, unless you run with a pretty static crew that knows to follow you.

Energy Absorbtion - why so little recharge? yes the base defense buff doesn't stack, but the bonus gained from all they enemies does. With a max hit of 10, and extra 6% defense(unenhanced) is never anything to sneeze at.

Attacks are pretty good, they can be mixed and matched different ways for better AoE damage or better single target damage.

The normal slotting is pretty good, but you have a few empty slots there.

As far as IO sets, that one is kinda all over. I've seen 3 different builds here and saw small holes in each of them, and some big opportunities missed with alot of them. I'll generalize my normal slotting a bit here.

Defensive powers - 5 or 6 slots - 5 Red fortune +1 LotG +rech (if you can't get LotG 5 slot) - Red Fortune is pretty easy to get and gives a good 5% recharge bonus and a 2% damage buff.

PBAoE(combustion/Fire sword circle possibly icicles) - 6 slot - 4 slot Cleaving Blow, then I usually add 2 from Scirocco's Dervish (chance for energy, and Dam/acc if possible) the 2 from Sciroccos can be replaced by a Damage IO and a Recharge or Acc IO

Single Target attacks - 5 slot - Crushing Impact - this can be swapped for Mako, or Touch of death if you prefer the +damage. Keep in mind, crushing impact + red fortune sets can only be 5 in total to get the recharge bonus

Chilling embrace - Why did not a one of you think of slotting this into a damage shield? Impeding swiftness has a chance for lethal damage, this 1 can be slotted in CE alone, or if you slot up to 3 of the set, you get an additional slow bonus.

This is just my own IO slotting, and my main goals are recharge, to try and chain together a better AoE attack chain.

Well I think it's now almost certain that the Cavern Trial is dropping Pool B's - whether that is by design or not I don't know as Posi never replied to my PM.

I might try running a Sky raider respec soon and seeing what drops that gives.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This may be an as designed, the new patch notes both indicate that the Sewers and Eden Trial give Pool C - TF recipes

EDIT: BTW - an SG Mate just told me they got an Impervium Armor PSI resist from finishing the Katie Hannon TF in Croatoa - second hand but hopefully useful.
  24. Well, this seems like a pretty loaded question.

But, I've always been a proponant of Defense over resistance(Still wany my /Ice Brute back), in my mind the world is too full of examples where a good defense is better than a good offense. Or how often do you see tie goes to the defender in a ruleset for tabletop games?

With that in mind, I give this opinion, and it can be taken with the necessary grain of salt.

    1) I'd expect a 55-60% chance to hit here. I believe that by default offense is the norm. most reflexive actions are to strike or lash out.

I like the caps of 95% and 5%, they are easy to work with, and easy to put calculations to develop as well) But I'd like to see the values just that little bit closer to always hit, always miss
    2) as the attacker I'd expect a 97.5% hit chance, as the defender I'd expect that same 2.5% miss chance
3)as the attacker I'd expect a 2.5% hit chance, as the defender I'd expect a 97.5% miss chance

At this end of the spectrum, I believe that defense should have the advantage, generally, a great defender can counter anything a great attacker can throw at them.

4)I believe as the attacker at 40-45% hit chance is reasonable, and as the Defender a 55-60% miss chance is best reflected in the power.

I'm sure that most people may disagree and believe that this should be a cut down the middle line, but realistically, the game is going to see twice as much offensive ablities as 'defensive'(not strictly defense, but resists as well) Thus, the rarity of these defensive abilities should be offset by the increased performance as the ability increases.
