Virtue,
Thank you for the 8 years of memories. I know I haven't been around much, in and out with life and other games, but when I logged on to read the news of losing COH, it crushed my heart. I began crying, rummaging through the original Hero Dawn photos.
City of Heroes and Hero Dawn, was a piece of my heart that never died. When I was asked to help create a SG for fun back in 2004, I never realized how many people this would grow to touch. How many friends would be bonded forever, and how large this server would become. I never thought that something like this, would feel like I was losing a great deal of importance. Something that was always there, even if I never really focused on it.
So to my fellow heroes:
Goat & Doomie, thank you for everything. Thank you for making this into something more then originally planned. You two became the foundation that was needed to keep the red and white going as long as it did.
Grit, I will always remember having to teleport you around PI. All the laughter it brought when Cpt. Shwan couldn't become the "most powerful" blaster during his time.
ChiaoFeng and Lynn. Your identities still remain a mystery to us. I still do remember that time you spoke once, queuing your mic on accident, but your secrete will be safe forever with me.
Arky, Hereon, and Millennium King, see you in GW2.
Vine, love you B.
Keri, thank you for the farms for the final 50. Even though I never got to experience a fire brute the way I wanted to, at least I can say, thanks to you, I had one.
Words, thank you for your support the last month. Thank you for being you, and always remember "Lights".
NovemberSky, this is one of the hardest to write. We all became so close, and due to IRL, the last 2 years have been a distance. I miss the RP circle and the nights of laughing during base building. I was hoping to regain some of that the past few months, but it appears that that will always remain a distant memory.
Mac, thank you for the fun times and good luck with your future of become a luchadore (sp? lol).
Warren, thank you for the laughs in PD. Good luck with everything.
Mercurias, thank you for being you. B and I are still around on skype. Feel free to hit one of us up at any point.
Nelo, I'll always remember seeing you around PD. Good luck out there w/everything.
To everyone else, past and present, I love you all. Thank you for the 8 years of friendships and memories. Thank you so much for being friends when I needed it, shoulders to cry on when I was down, and the laughs, love, and memories that shaped my life in a way that no one else could.
This is Laser., Astarte the Mistress, Airea, Shkae Torrek, Aed Fiamatta, and all the other parts of me, signing out.
Love,
Heather
Find me in Guild Wars 2 on Fort Aspenwood server. My name is Terra Volta, in memory of COH. -
Yeah, I'm back after a 2 year hiatus. Not on all the time, but most of the time. I seemed to have lost a lot of SG/VG connections + half of my friends list is gone, which doesn't shock me. Just throwing this out there to say hi and my handle still is @Laser With A Dot
I am also Astarte the Mistress...Thought maybe I should mention that... guu~~ -
And the servers went down and everyone on Virtue just went....

aaaaaaand down again

Yeah it sucks...thank god i finally got dual boot windows 7... no more problems except the flickering screen unless im in windows mode.

So... Uh still no response about the base editing problems. I went to Apple, and they checked out my laptop. 190-200F is normal temperature when running the game on the better graphics cards for the macbook pro's, for anyone who has wondered. Only freak out if it goes to 225-230.
I had them check my drivers: No problems. I had them do a full diagnostic, everything is perfectly fine. So why am I still getting base editing Assertion Fail after being in the base editor for 15+ mins? Also with the pixelated pictures on the screen in the base editor, I have noticed all the pictures are of the game itself, almost like it's getting all the files confused. I see the start screen, log in screen, etc in all the pixelated pictures in the base editor and random other objects. To me it's like the Mac's are confused and loading things in the bases incorrectly. Deleting the preference file and starting in safe mode does NOT fix this problem. Neither does doing the test client fix. I have re-installed, un-installed, deleted, patched, everything multiple times, and time and time again this issue still remains. I emailed NC Soft with my computer information and it's been a few days and still no response. What this problem is? I have no idea anymore but it'd be great if someone could get back to me with some sort of an answer. -
At least you guys get responses...I message the Dev's and get no responses ever

Quote:So get this, after going through all that stuff downloading the test and all and getting it to run consistently, I noticed my vidiots maps was gone. I moved the data folder into my new CoH app, and the big black screen returned the next time I tried to log in! I moved the data folder back out, deleted the preference folder, logged in in safe mode and reset my graphics. Now it loads every time again! Can that folder be the cause of our problems? Anyone having this issue without vidiots maps installed?
me, only in the editor though -
Ok got an assertion fail again, and now I can't get past the update screen. Keeps trying to find something to connect to.

Quote:... a con red behemoth.
Anybody else thinking... either pop some yellows or turn the difficulty down? Really, these are options compared to asking the developers to "fix" something that is Working As Intended.
Um... try +0/x0 difficulty for the level 30 Aura mission and there were Red Behemoth Lieu's in there. And even popping yellows still missing a lot. -
just sucks to do that when you are in a small cave and there's 3-4 of them
-
The only problem is the Behemoth's aren't keeping targeted the tank. They drop aggro frequently and start attacking everything at random running all over the place. And no there were not a lot of MM's surrounding it, this was when there was no MM's in there at all. Can't kill something you can only hit 1/20 times for only 5 damage.
-
So I don't know what happened but ever since i17 the Behemoth Lieu. for the CoT are imaginably over powered. They are harder to kill then most purples, even when they are only yellow to you. They hit a power (unstoppable I think) and there's 1 major problem with that, it never turns off once they hit it. We sat here for 15 mins trying to kill a red Behemoth because his power wouldn't turn off and all we kept getting was deflect spammed over and over. At 50 with IO's it may not be as bad as a problem, but say at level 32, kinda difficult. Any reason for the change?
-
ok so so far, no assertion fails but...It's a tid laggy still when i place something or move something huge afterwards unless i cmd. enter in and out to reset the screen, and still getting the pixelated pictures. It's only the editor causing problems I'm not getting issues anywhere else.
-
.................... and
no. Still bugged. Still getting graphic bugged pictures in the editor and still getting assertion failed in the editor. I never had problems outside the editor it's ONLY the base editor causing problems. -
lol yesterday I had cotton candy trees, people running around without faces, and demon horns flickering colors. i felt like i was on drugs running around pocket d
-
i'm trying that now...just hate downloading because it takes forever. *crosses fingers* i hope this is the problem. I never got the log-in black screen just random assertion fails while trying to base edit.
-
By the way I wrote this in another section but I'll write it here too. To really cut down on the lag, make sure to go into the Advanced graphic settings and make sure Geometric Buffering is DISABLED. It enables if you just use the slider and not turn it off yourself. I noticed a huge difference in lag being lowered once i turned that off.

*shakes fist*

---> macbook pro. newest model. 4G+ and NVIDA cards. Yes I threw out the folders and that did nothing. Still buggy, still glitching, still having fun with the assertion fails. -
This is a side note: I've discovered disabling the "Geometric" option really helps for ppl having big issues. I turned it off on mine and holy cow what a difference that did in helping.

Quote:Didn't work. Tried it 3-4 times and every time same results. That's still consistent with the graphics corruption I experienced in testing - you'll have to throw out the preferences at Users > (yourname) > Library > Preferences > City of Heroes Preferences and then restart the Mac before running CoH again. Then, at the CoH patcher, check the Safe Mode box when you see the license agreement. Change your settings, and start the game again.
Quote:As for the heat issues, try removing the cooling pad to see if the temperature changes. Those often cause more problems than they solve. If it's still way too hot, see if an Apple Store's Genius Bar can test it and make sure it's within normal range.
Also last night for some reason every tree was made of pink cotton candy -
Nope. I have the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M. Regardless which one of those I am on I get a funky background on my character change screen. Has been happening for me for 2 weeks. I even un-installed, re-installed the game and I'm still getting it ONTOP of all the other problems except the blackscreen.
Adding this in: My laptop heats up to 185-198 degrees F with the fans at 6000RPM + a cooling bad underneath. Is anyone else having this problem?
Adding this in too:
This is what I see in a mission but at times the bottom is white and the background is pink with a star and it keeps changing colors. And some times in Rikti Warzone it's a symbol of the Rikti Entrance.

Yeah found it. Apparently the Mac version of the game is really screwed up right now.. Yay Assertion Fail!
