Thanx for the reply THB. That's some good info that I didn't know.
I was able to move 1 slot out from Drain Psyche and changed out the end rec sets for Touch of the Nictus and gained more HPs and Acc (always good), and placed that extra slot into RoA. I will swap out the Posi set there (except for the proc) and put in the Ragnarok set...which I wanted to do in the first place, but hated losing the Posi Proc. I moved the ATO set to Blazing arrow.
I like Psychic Scream, and have a hard time letting that go...though if I can go w/o it for awhile, I could slot Subdual with Thunderstrikes for that extra 4% ranged defense. I'll really have to think about that. I'm not familiar with Afterburner to be honest. Mids shows it having a 30 second recharge, but a duration of only .75 seconds (????)...can that be right?
The 6th Oblit will stay...23% melee defense isn't great, but when not solo, there is usually somebody with something to stack on top of it, which means I'll be safer when in melee. playstyle difference I guess.
I'm also looking into Enh Boosters to squeeze a bit more out of the build.
I still have a lot to think about for this Blaster. Again, thanx for the reply!! -
I'm looking for some help and guidance to improve my Blaster. I typically run melee toons and have a good bead on builds for them, but Blasters are a whole 'nuther deal to me. This will be for PVE, and I'm looking for good defense, especially ranged as I tend to hover-blast. I do tend to come into melee range for Drain Psyche and Psychic Shockwave on occasion. I also like +regen and +damage...but I would certainly defer to more knowledgeable advice. I am working on both Clarion and Rebirth depending on the situation. Also, for the ATO set, is this a good place for it, or would I be better served by placing it in another power, say an AoE. I could gain some 4% to range defense if I place the ATO set in an AoE, but I'd lose out on 6.25% +rchg. I'm not sure that is necessarily a good trade-off.

I have to agree...this just doesn't appear to work very well. Now I will have to commit a faux pas by cross-posting to an actual AT forum. For those who may actually see it, sorry in advance. Just pretend you didn't see it in this forum...shouldn't be hard to do.
-
Anybody? best place to place the ATO set? if it is better to place in an AoE, I could gain another 4% or so ranged defense. yay! but then I'd lose 6.25% rechg. boo! I'm not so sure that is a good trade.
thoughts?? -
Interesting build. That's why I love the forums...you can always find something new!
I was under the perception that it was better to put the ATO's in a sngle-target power. Is this not the case? The reason I placed it in the T1 attack was so that it would bring the damage of that attack up...which is also nice if I get held or slept. -
I'm looking for some help and guidance to improve my Blaster. Also, for the ATO set, is this a good place for it, or would I be better served by placing it in another power?

Well...they do need new hats for chicks. just sayin'
/sarcasm off -
Anybody know why Gladiator matches that I win are coming out as draws?
Some evil Nemesis plot or something? -
OK...next iteration of the build. I have to say, at first I thought that I just couldn't have my cake and eat it too. But it looks like I can at least have a slice of cake now. I still want more slots...but it looks like I will just have to put the "big-boy" pants on and make some tough decisions. The build looks leaner and meaner IMO. I'm sure it could still use some tweaks.
I haven't delved into the ATO stuff yet. The proc looks interesting. If I could free up another slot, I may just throw that one in the build.

Quote:Thank you for the reply! I'm currently waffling on whether to go Touch of Fear or Oppressive Gloom. Since I have no slots to spare, OG being a "one-hit wonder" for slots, it has made it to the next build round.Dropped touch of fear for hover (combat jumping would work just as well). I short-slotted shadow maul, if it were mine I'd likely drop that power and pick up hasten. I might drop darkest night for maneuvers, too. I left them in place as the OP is enjoying his powers.
I think the OP has overvalued regen for a tank that has dark regen and siphon life. And stamina is overslotted. I built with more emphasis on s/l/e/n defense, and landed at 45.1% s/l, 38.2% e/n. I also increased -kb protection to 12 pts and squeezed in an ATO proc.
I dropped Dark Consumption and added Combat Jumping and threw in another LotG +rchg. Yay! Since I doubt I will go the Hasten route with this toon.
You are also most correct in that I over-value the regen on this Tank. Habit really. Did the same thing on my Fire Armor Tank...don't regret it a bit. But after taking a long hard look at the big picture, I think I can loosen up a bit with these powersets. Dark Regen/Siphon Life/ better defense than on my Fire Armor Tank...and the big one...all the -ToHit. Chances are good that I won't need all the extra regen. Definitely thanx for pointing that out.
I also wanted to get to 12 pts of kb...didn't have the slots before. but now I do!!

Quote:I just can't give up Cloak of Fear...love the power too much. Not a fan of Cloak of Fear, mainly because it's such an end hog, that also needs lots of accuracy. I'm not willing to devote slots to it to make it work.
Anyway, here's two Dark/Dark builds I have. The first is what the tank was originally going to be slotted. The second build is what I'm currently planning on switching to, now that the Glad Armor +3 defense has dropped dramatically in price. There are things I've done differently then you have, and might give you some ideas for change.
Your builds have given me some things to think about. I can lose a couple of slots of Reactive Armors if I go the Glad Armor +3 defense. Expensive, but worth it. -
I got my Dark Armor/Dark Melee Tank to 50 during Double XP Weekend. He was a fun Tank to run, mostly on SO's, but I had the 3 Heal uniques, a Performance Shifter Proc and a ToE Proc to help along the way. I LOVE CoF.
I'm trying to work a good post-50 build, but I feel like I need more slots...much more. Looking for some good DA/DM advice on slotting, which IO sets might work better. Which powers I absolutely don't need (I like them all dangit!). Which pool powers could be better. That kind of thing.
In my build, I only have my Alpha slot set for now, since I know I will be going Cardiac.

First off, thank you again for all the replies. This is what I was looking for. I've been to the wiki page, but to be honest, seeing thoughtful / reasoned discussion works better for me.
I generally hate knock-back as much as standing in lines. Polar Lights are out.
Luckily this is a case where I can have my cake and eat it too. I'm gonna go with the Drones first, then work on getting Warworks and then I can switch as needed.
and they all rejoiced.... -
I have my Lore slot opened. For concept reasons, I'm looking at Warworks, Drones, or Polar Lights. Looking for advice on which may work best, which is the worst and why. On either side of the T4.
Thanx in advanced. -
-
Not to take the attention off of the new shininess which is Dark/* and */Dark, I would like to ask for some slotting guidance for a few */Psi powers. Specifically, I am looking for slotting for Mind Probe, Psychic Scream, Drain Psyche, and Psychic Shockwave. Beyond the basics of course (Acc/Dam and such). What are some of the better set IO's, or Procs people are using or finding some "WOW" factor in.
Any guidance is appreciated. -
Quote:I have no problems IO'ing out a toon. That is 2 for EA Scrapper. EA is a set I know nothing about unfortunately. Why does it shine? And why is the Scrapper the best AT for KM/EA?I'd go with a KM/SR scrapper unless you can uber IO out your toon easily. If that is the case then KM/EA would be the way to go.
(serious questions...I really would like to know) -
Actually, I do have a DA Tank...sitting at 45 right now. I Love the DA Tank for the concept (love the utility in it), but he will probably be my only Dark Armor.
You say KM is supposed to be extra good on a Scrapper? -
So I'm looking to finally make a Kinetic Melee toon. What secondary pairs good/best with it? Second question...what AT works best with Kinetic Melee?
I tend to Like Tanks first, then Brutes, then Scrappers...concept usually comes first (when I have one, which I don't...yet). So I'm open to experience here.
Thanx! -
-
Quote:don't forget, they have "some" Defense, plus maneuvers gives them a "touch" more. I'm certainly not claiming it's Godmode or anything like that, but a bit of layered defenses helps out.I don't think it would work that well. Ninja themselves have no resistance at all (Oni may have a tiny bit of fire resistance). The shield only gives them about 23% resistance and with one pet unique, that's 33% resistance. That's not enough for survival. You'll be locked in "healing" mode all the time.
I'm only at 28 right now. We'll see how it plays out at the end. -
I'm running Ninja/Therm...the fire shields seem to toughen them up some. throw in some of the Pet Uniques and they should be gold. Well... that's the plan anyway. Looks good on paper.
-
I went a bit of a different route. I did have some help from the forums as well, but some AT's just have to be built to taste and play-style. My play-style happens to be Fearsome Stare, followed by jumping into the crowd with Oppressive Gloom on. If there is a Boss in the crowd, I like to use Darkest Night first, followed by Tar Patch, then Fearsome Stare (I LOVE THAT POWER!).
