I've made the decision to spend some time focusing on family and the job hunt, mostly family . I've got all of the squishy, touchy, feely stuff out of the way on the other thread, but I just want to reiterate how much being a part of this Community has meant to me. This isn't goodbye. I'm staying in gaming. I love building amazing online Communities around games and don't see myself doing anything aside from this. The social experience is why I play online games, and this is where my passion lies.

People need to get over it. What is will be untill servers fade to black (mapserver in infinite). Nothing new will be added, the game will die. Even with the petitions it wont matter. They are dead set and done. I liked this game also for the past 8 1/2 years. Only thing thats going to save this game is someone that is rich enough to buy it and keep it running, and or steal it.

I hadn't replied because it appeared that the OP was unwilling to listen to anything anyone said, even when it was backed by links to quotes of redname posts.

If I'd wasted effort by replying I'd have only angered myself.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Actually the people in direct control of account status are likely still there, but they were not at Paragon Studios. It is the accounting trolls at NCsoft. In reality, someone at accounting could tell a server monkey to flip the VIP switch on all accounts. That would affect both the beta and the live servers at the same time. I'd estimate that the database query would take all of 5 minutes to write (provided it is in a MySQL database) and would be able to be done without a server shutdown. At any rate, it would be far easier to do than your suggestion.

However, in the past NCsoft has taken 8-10 hours to "fiddle" with the account database. At that point, I'm guessing that they need approval of 3-4 departments, put it to a test platform, preform a QA check, get an approval of the QA check, put it to the live account server, get THAT approved by QA, and finally have the last QA approval approved. To say that the bureaucrats have run amok at NCsoft is to say that the Atlantic Ocean is a "small pond".

Verbalized to the point, Snow Glob.

When i made my suggestion, i wanted to check an alternative way to incarnate besides the Account VIP-switch... i still thought of the possibility that the game may get bought. (Someone hopefull mentioned back when the strict "No-VIP after 1st September" rule hit, that it may be created because they want to keep clear track for a buyer.)
My idea is far more difficult (and not doable anymore), but would not touch the accounts.
