Alright. Fess up. Whodunit?
I've been getting phishing emails and "did you request a password change" from ArenaNet since before GW2 went live. And I only played GW in beta and then a trial later, which was I don't even know how many years ago.
The only reason this is happening is because there's some way for gold farmers to earn money in GW2, which makes me want to stay way the hell away from it.

I saw a thread about that on the Titan Network. Someone said the password attack itself happened before NCSoft announced they'd be killing off City of Heroes.
Dunno if that's confirmed, but I don't think it's a revenge attack. In fact, judging from the article, it looks more like account pirates plundering what they can get from legit people, then selling their accounts and their characters' stuff for real money.
I'm not happy about the COH situation, but not cool to harm fellow gamers. It wasn't their fault.
Wasn't me!
I am, however, laughing my copper-plated *** off. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving publisher.

"Avenge me, Son! AVENGE ME!!"
P.S. When I say "avenge me", I'm kidding. Just, y'know, so it's clear. It wasn't a CoH player anyways; it was the Chinese.
I'll never take pleasure in a security breach like that. It's hurting the players who likely legitimately want to play and enjoy the game.
"I have something to say! It's better to burn out then to fade away!"
Let's not turn against one-another, alright?
Just thought it was awfully coincidental, Especially with the number of accounts hacked close to the amount of petition signatures.
I'm not picking sides here, Both have victims.
"I have something to say! It's better to burn out then to fade away!"
Relevant XKCD.
I use different passwords for every single site I open an account with (I wrote a password generator which always returns the same result for the same website domain, so in the event I forget the password, I just need to write the site and my secret number into my generator and I get it back) and I've never, ever had my any account stolen anywhere.
If you use the same username and password in something that costs you money and in a public website that someone you don't know put together, you're just asking for trouble.
