Other MMOs?

I am a little bit sickened and underwhelmed by the idea of starting over somewhere else, but I will likely sooner or later try other MMOs in some kind of effort to fill the void CoH will leave.

Anyone have any such plans yet, and if so, what MMOs will you look into?

I was somewhat entertained by SWTOR before CoH Freedom lured me back, so I might go mess around on that again. Other than that, I'm personally at a loss, so I'm also sorta looking for ideas.

I've been enjoying LOTRO for the last two years. DDO also appeals to me. World of Tanks is great for the pvp experience.

I play both STO and CO, since they are f2p. tOR is fun but its not really a big team game. Its more like wow than anything I think.

Besides, I need at least one superhero mmo and CO is the top choice after CoH.

I will be hanging out in The Secret World and perhaps back to The Old Republic when it goes freebie. However, I don't think I will spend any great length of time in either of them. The people are what made this game, and they will be scattered throughout the market now. They've been trickling out over the last couple of years actually.

For SWTOR freeplay [up to L15 now and supposed to go to L50 within a month] - the only server listed as a 'rp' server is the Ebon Hawk. I dl's the game last week [it took forever] - logged into the Ebon Hawk and have been having a -very- fun time there so far.

I'll probably say 'heck with it' and go pay after I've got some characters up to L15. ^_^ But if you go there, I'd love to see you there.
[the account is ranthalling, my girls so far are alferrida [IA], mithundome [SI], gaergalad [JC] & myrnmallen [smuggler].

well I set up a Cabal on Secret world, Grim Server, Templar Faction, Called Brotherhood of Paragon, and it's open to all CoH'ers Regardless of home server

The more I read about Secret World, the more I think I'll probably go here after CoH ends. Seems like a lot of CoH vets heading there, though mostly from Virtue.

I'll probably keep up with SWTOR and STO too since they'll be f2p.

Tried CO, seemed kinda....goofy, I dunno.

Agreed, not diggin' CO.

STO... I have philosophical issues with... mainly lighting and how Starships should *really* work...

SWTOR... I... well, just not as interested in that as I might should kinda be... Meh.

And just to say it, DCUO is... interesting. Very pretty. I was able to make a 'brawl only' type character, which pleases me... but the wearing of items to power up and having them wear out makes me... well... not happy.

In case that matters.

Mike

August 31, 2012. A Day that will Live in Infamy. Or Information. Possibly Influence. Well, Inf, anyway. Thank you, Paragon Studios, for what you did, and the enjoyment and camaraderie you brought.
This is houtex, aka Mike, signing off the forums. G'night all. - 10/26/2012
Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012

I'll be looking into that asap. Game looks interesting enough.

though:

"As most of you probably know, The Secret World team has been through a turbulent couple of weeks. We've had to let some people go, and we're in the process of reshuffling and reorganising ourselves around the remaining staff. This is never fun, but it's the way of things: we need to scale down from a full development team to a more cost-efficient live team.

So what does this mean for The Secret World? How will a smaller team affect the delivery of upcoming content? And most importantly, does TSW have a future?"

kinda plays at my MMO anxieties.

I agree, I don't like to read that at a game's outset. Maybe the ex-CoH influx will boost it a bit. Who knows, these seem to be trying times for MMOs in general.

It'll help when they get the free trial back up in some form so folks can try it before buying it.

Looking at TSW but may not go there immediately. Have to upgrade the ol' gaming rig and can't do that until after I get a house bought. But it definitely looks awesome and the community seems very welcoming to ex-COHers

Formerly played in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes under SoE, mainly for the crafting/diplomacy and House/Guildhouse/Shipbuilding. I've reopend that account & have to say that maybe finally they've got their stability issues fixed. I got my first 'base building' fix there & will probably do it again for a bit. Since DCUO is also on SoE I may also play around in that for my hit of Superheroing, although CO is marginally a better game. Mostly, I'm gonna keep supporting those who are doing CPR on this game until there is absolutely no hope of resurrection in any form.

I have been playing around on DCUO and it is worse then u say, first off there is no tanks there well real tanks like in COH, the trollers cant control anything,, they r just buffers, they cant control anything, healers powers are to be desirable

I have accounts in both DCO and CO but I'm burnt out on the super hero thing for now. Not into the fantasy games and TSW kept DC'ing on me during the free trial so I'm not giving them any of my money.

I have been enjoying Fallen Earth via Steam. Dropped $30 for a three month sub on the lowest tier after messing around with free to play for a bit and I'm enjoying it. Lot's of crafting, optional PvP and very solo friendly. I like the post apocalyptic feel of the game and the fact I don't have to worry about running into any Elves.

Devs would post more if they could say "hi!" without people whining because they wanted them to say "hello".
