I'd love to see this added to Mids, would you?

I suppose the most effective way to do this would be to have two character files, one for 'current' and one for 'planned'. Sentinel's export function would make maintaining your 'current' build fairly easy.

Polite suggestions are always welcome, I'd think. It's the "this would be easy for someone else to do" posts that gets people's hackles up. How do you know it's easy?
Anyway, I might use this, though I'm not sure. I tend to buy sets one power at a time, so I track them that way (i.e., what I have slotted so far, and what I'm still bidding on the market). It might be useful in some circumstances, but the enhancement screen and the market itself seem to provide a workaround.
Oh, I'd love to have it.
I thought about coming up with something similar during one of my few times of feeling ambitious, but fortunately my inherent laziness came through and saved me. I play the game to have fun, and when it starts turning into work it's no longer fun.
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

You're "most effective way" isn't all that efficient. I've tried it, and find it lacking for me. I will still do it that way on more then one occasion as, like I said, I try to be conscientious about printing more then necessary.

You can flip to alternate enhancements...this is what I do:
Fill main and alternate with the same enhancements for the build. Remove enhancements from alternate when I obtain one. Then I can have the main enhancement 'view' with all the set bonuses and buffs and stuff, and I can have my 'shopping list' alternate enhancement 'view'.

As I mentioned, I've got lots, and lots of toons. Currently I'm sitting at 33 toons alone on my main server, not including what I've got scattered on the other servers. I can certainly lose track of what I'm looking for, bouncing around trying to find IOs or recipes for one of them, if I don't keep a clear record.
For me, this feels it like would be more efficient, but if no one else likes the idea, I'll keep plugging along the way I do now.

I always find it amusing when someone, who has no idea how a program is coded, goes "it'd be easy" to accomplish something. I know I don't know how hard or easy it would be to do it. Therefore, I presume it won't be easy. I also don't presume that it would be "feasible" to accomplish.

Oh man. 3 months ago I did a major re-inventory. I put about 500 enhancers in one base, in alphabetical order. Since then I have made oodles of characters/stripped/half stripped, etc. Oh, further complicating? I have bought lots of "Tuned" enhancers, and those cannot be stored at the base. I am looking at having to spend another day or two regathering everything for my next 3-6 months of builds. Especially with i24 coming up. What I would love? Have something in the game where I can store all my enhancers for my account. Tuned, Regular, all of it. My logic? I buy from NC Soft $15-$100 a month worth of stuff. Throw me a little storage space. In fact, you inspired me to start this as an independent thread.

Was that a yes, you like the idea, or a no, you don't think it's necessary to include this in Mids? (Which isn't an NcSoft product. )

grumble. the problem with it being in mids is how do you synch up the data entry with the characters. IF (Big freaking If) Mids could tell me where all my enhancers are on every character (in trays or not) and in my base? I'd PAY for that.
The preferred solution is for NC Soft to actually address their paying customers needs. Yes, i would Pay for that too.
Btw Aggelakis, you never did answer the questions.
(Not thinking about how much they've already got on their plates as it is, especially with changes coming in i24. Not thinking this would, or even should have any sort of priority. Without trying to "protect them".)

I think you're misunderstanding my question. I'm not looking for Mids to track what I have, or don't have across all my characters. I'm looking for a way to flag IOs/Enhancements on ONE build so that I know what I've already slotted on the ONE character. That's all. Nothing beyond that.

I would find it useful.
I typically stockpile IOs that I use a lot in my base, so by the time I get a new character to 50 the build is already halfway collected. So yeah, for a while there my half finished characters are sporting a Frankenstein build while I try to search through other characters and/or obtain the recipes that are left to procure.

...something to denote that I don't need to purchase it, or to find it amongst my other toons inventories.

In other words, when looking at the IO options in the popup for a powerset... something to tell you you've already slotted the max allowable for certain items.
And yes, I would definitely find such a feature quite useful.

Let me try and clarify myself better. All I'm looking for is this: The ability to highlight in the Mids planner any IOs and enhancements that I've slotted onto a character's Live build. I'm not looking for Mids to read that from the game. I'm looking for way to do that manually. This would be the equivalent of taking a highlighter to a piece of paper showing what I've already done (but without printing up the build).
I hope that makes better sense.

Gotcha.
Okay, my brain obviously took a left turn at Albuquerque...
You are looking for some kind of "check off" function. Does it need to be a visual highlight? or could it possibly be a separate popup/window with a "shopping list" of all needed enhancements for a build, with little boxes that you could literally check off?
.

Originally I was thinking of highlighting the individual IOs (or some other visual clue), but a check off list would also work.

I think I still misunderstand your statement. How can you not know what is on your character. It is right in your Mids build. Right? You spend however long planning the build in MiDs. How is that not going to be the build on your character. If that is not what you actually put on your character...(say for instance you ignored the 3 hours uyou put into the best Scrapper build of all time and opted instead for level 10 End I/Os on everything) how is Mids going to track that you did not follow the Mids build you created.
My problem is I make and unmake so many high end builds (to re-use I/Os for other projects) That I have trouble following the debris trail, and invest a day or so every few months clearing up the clutter.
I have zero use for that. I have a 3 ring binder with my builds. I build them in MiDs, print them, create them in the game to match the MiDs printout. If i need them again (because I imploded for instance) I still have a hardcopy record of the build as well as the record saved in Mids if I need a reminder of the values. This is my system.

Although you've got a three ring binder, and I'm sure it works great for you, I'd prefer not to print out builds.

It's the difference between what I have been able to slot on the character live vs. what I have planned. I don't always have every single IO that I need for one completed build. I don't spend weeks/months collecting a pile of them in inventory before slotting them, so I don't usually stuff everything in at once. Once I get the individual IOs, or sets, I start using them.

So.... Go back into Mids once you have your "real" build. Open the "Planned build" rename it "Real Hero XYZ" and modify that to what you actually made. Save it. No need to print it out, and Mids will save that for you forever. If you are taking time to "create" the build. Then just keep a live model in MiDs that tracks your progress. You spend a day or a week getting one or two sets slotted onto the build, then open MiDs for two minutes, note that by placing the Enhancers, save it. Mids will be your notebook, just keep multiple copies. "Planned Hero XYZ, Working Hero XYZ"

I would love to have a "shopping list" that I can alt-tab between while I'm in game. In game, I'd be able to check my live build, alt-tab to my Mids shopping list and check off the things I already have... or highlight the slots in the build... whatever. As I build my live character, I can keep that Mids list easily updated; or, in the case of highlighting, it would be a very quick visual reference. Even if I'm offline, it would be a useful tool to plan out my next shopping spree in game.

Of course, I will also honestly say that I wouldn't be surprised if it was sprung on us without warning two weeks from now.
In the meantime, I'm just using the alternate enhancements. I use separate save files for different builds, so I have no other use for the alternate enhancements.

(Except I have no idea how you translate your build from MiDs to in-game. Do you memorize every enhancer?) But whatever you are doing obviously works for you.

Is this like an aberrant behavior or something that I should feel weird about?
Carl and Sons @Aurora Girl (Pinnacle)
As someone who uses Mids extensively (and suffers greatly from altitis) I've come to the conclusion that there's a functionality that I would love to see added to the program. The ability to flag enhancements to show what I've already purchased and slotted into a character's planned build. Be it a gold ring around the IO itself, or something to denote that I don't need to purchase it, or to find it amongst my other toons inventories.
Currently I print out the builds and highlight what I've done, but as someone who tries to be a bit conscientious about recycling, etc. I try to avoid printing as often as I can. This would save me lots of paper, ink and time.
Beyond the "Standard Code Rant": my question for you is this, if this kind of functionality could be added to Mids, would you want it? Would you use it?
(Hopefully the Mids folks won't want to beat me soundly across the head and shoulders for suggesting this. )
