Just ran an ITF with a Windfall running for the first time

Can someone explain what a windfall do ?

I had 2 incarnate shards (thats my low record for an ITF
4 Endurence reduction recipes
3 Recharge recipes
1 Immob and 1 Interrupt recipes
Even zero rare salvage drop...
And a few inspirations, granted, most of them were big ones.

i believe its a 10% increase in the drop rate, however since most items are around 1-2% chance to drop (estimated) your not gonna see a significant increase

IIRC, windfalls are best used when solo at x8 since then you get all the drop checks and thus they all get boosted by the windfall increase.

When grouped only your checks get boosted, so on an actual team of 8 only 1/8th (yours) are getting the windfall chance.

That is all IIRC. Never used one myself.

Not so. There is no shared loot. Every "kill" grants an.
independent drop check for each member of the team

So why do my inspire drops plummet when teamed?

I don't know what all drops are affected by teaming, but inspire drops are demonstrably, clearly, exceptionally reduced on a team.

What the hell? Let's buff defenders.
Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.

That is true of Incarnate Shards and probably Threads. IIRC, that aspect of the Shard system was explicitly touted as new and different.

Salvage, recipes, inspirations -- all of those drop more frequently for soloists. The design intent is (I think) that teams kill faster, and that therefore teams should give you more-or-less the same amount of drops over time, but in practice that's not usually how it works out. Not even close. You can quite literally build a solo character around Inspiration use -- but a team character not so much.

Now that you mention it I seem to remember when inventions were introduced people asking for the devs to use something like the team bonus XP formula to increase recipe drops when teamed.

This has been my experience. I get more and better drops solo x8 than in a team fighting romans or nemesis. Get a mission from the general at cim and do +0 or +1 x8 solo.

All of this is correct.

OP topic: I've never actually bothered with Windfalls after a little preliminary testing. What tends to happen is that I fill up on common salvage and recipes/temp powers, and waste time deleting junk rather than killing moar mobs. The commons have the highest base drop rate, so presumably are what's going to be increased the most by a power that boosts drop rates across the board. I don't need more Regenerating Flesh and St. Louis Slammers. Kinda at my quota, there.

Negative. Most kills take ONE drop check, then decide who gets it.

A few drops work differently - notably shards, threads and Vanguard merits on mothership raids. This is why you can get multiple shards/threads off one kill - it checks for EVERYONE then decides who gets it and more than one can go to the same person.

Well, I'm still very disapointed by my 2 shards.
I used to get between 6 and 9.

A Windfall improves your drop chances, but not enormously, and valuable drops are pretty uncommon in the first place. 25% more than squat is still squat.

2 shards on an ITF is on the low end, but far from unheard of, especially if you weren't clearing the maps.

Also respite drops from the zombie spawns in the final battle of the Halloween TuT event - they drop for everyone no matter what, like Vanguard Merits on a mothership raid (If you do a massive amount of damage or get INSANELY lucky you can get two or three from a Boss/Elite Boss).

...Also I think the Temporary Power granted by the seedlings of Hamidon in First Ward is given to anyone nearby when it dies.
