For I24: Make Taking Group Fly and Team TP Workable Please!

They don't fix old stuff that only a minimal amount of players use. What they do instead is drown that old stuff under new stuff hoping you forget about it. Sort of drinking a bottle of booze to drown your sorrows. They just keep supplying the booze ( aka new stuff ) in hopes you forget.

Nice try. Time challenges were being completed before ATT existed. ATT just shaved a small amount of time off them. You can still complete the TFs without ATT (which is the point of the content). Next attempt?

You attempt to derail the post now into some mutant argument. Not going there. Team TP is not taken very often. ATT in its place would be a better choice in my opinion.

I see players use snipes and I see players use nukes many times. On top of that your comparing Primary and Secondaries to Pool powers. You can still have a good toon without the use of many of the power pools. As a matter of fact any toon you have clearly does not have a choice to pick all the power pools. I get by without travel powers on several toons that are not Kinetic users.
But I don't see many players using Group Fly and I see more players using the Incarnate teleport more then anything else.
But again regardless You can't prove me wrong for as much as I can't prove you wrong. Unless YOU have some sort of secret data of what every players picks for powers.
But I will have a nice day regardless and I hope you do the same.

For Group Teleport I think they should just change it to be a group recall friend that works across zones. So you can summon your whole team to a specific zone where a mission is regardless of where they are in game. That would make group teleport worthwhile.
For Group Fly I'm not sure... about the only thing I can think of is to make it like Kinetic's Inertial Reduction, make it a PBAOE buff that affects team mates and gives them a temp power that grants flight for a specific duration. Even that's a little hokey but it offers more versatility and reliability than Group Fly as is.

IIRC, Assemble The Team still uses a targeting reticule, it's just a very short range one. Make both parties happy and convert Team Teleport into ATT with the longer targeting range (and much, much shorter recharge). Now the power pulls all your allies on the map to your target location (provided they accept the prompt). It can still be used to jump into a fight, as Bill wants, and can also be used to summon your full team to you, as EG wants. Or is there something else I missed? |
You should PM this to Synapse or Hawk. Cause it's a brilliant solution, IMO, if it works.
The Devs have, on several occasions attempted to fix Group Fly and Team TP. The problem is that the fixes didn't work.
The speed of those affected by Group Fly was enhanced so they wouldn't drop out. However, the mechanics of following and pathing caused lag in following was then discovered to be the real culprit. Changing *that* would involve serious rewriting of deep gaming code.
The problem with Team TP is the lag that some players have with their computer or network. Just like some people take a lot longer to go through a door in the game, it takes some longer to appear where they're teleported to... which means they miss the next Team TP and drop out. Or even if they TP fast enough, the short duration Hover doesn't apply to them correctly and they drop. The Devs can't just program away network latency.
So, they did try, but came up against barriers that would require an excessive amount of time to fix... if it indeed could ever be fixed.
However, taking both powers together tends to make up for the bugs the other has.
Scrap both old powers and make them granted powers of some sort as dozens if not tens of dozens have asked over the years. Maybe make it a toggle for me so as long as it is on those players granted can use the power. Once it toggles off its like I lost concentration and they are screwed. Pretty similar to the way it is now. But at least its not a game lag issue. Its more of a play issue instead. At least it makes a bit more realistic.
Oh, my we lost our flight power, Super Avenger must have been ambushed for him to break concentration.
Instead of Super Avenger flew away from us too fast and made us fall.
As for the pathing issue. I call BS. What pathing issue is there in the open sky. You could fly in a straight line across IP and not be able to have players maintain the same speed as you.
To me with everything I see in this game I find it hard to understand why they can't fix this. It just seems so mundane compared all these power changes. EG Crashless Nukes.
