I like the sound of Tidal Vortex over Floodgates, but that name sounds more tech or science origin rather than a (presumably) natural one of a native Atlantean, so I'm not sure it'd entirely fit the concept you're after.
Did a bit of Googlage for Atlantean names and there seems to be a fair bit of info about that might help you come up with something more fitting?

I would personally go with Tidal Vortex, not only does the concept go with that of Kinetics (sucking up power and other buffs/debuffs), could perhaps be of magic origin, and honestly it just sounds better than a plural gate. (Also it goes better with the concept of how the city was swallowed up by the sea)
Floodgates doesn't sound that Atlantean, it is too 'man-made' to be the source of an ancient civilization (besides the fact that the plural form bothers me a bit).

Thanks all. I did decide to go with Floodgates. I figured that could be his "human code name" or something. And I did resist the urge to tint the powers yellow or brown.

Hi champs, I have two names reserved on Champion for a new Water Blast character. (Probably a WB/Kin corruptor, I've never stuck with a Kin.)
1. Floodgates
2. Tidal Vortex
Anyone want to help me pick one name? I was kind of leaning towards Tidal Vortex, but now I'm more indecisive and could go with either. Which ones seems better/cooler/more interesting to you?
I don't have much of a concept for this character, other than "WB/Kin corruptor." I think he'll probably be a native of some underwater civilization like Atlantis, but I haven't thought out anything detailed yet. Blue skin, water themed costume... that's about all I got. I will probably not color the WB much, I think it looks great as-is.
