Breakdown of Blaster i24 Performance
Envenomed Daggers take animation time (about 1s every 10, if you want to keep the debuff on constantly), cause redraw for weapon sets, provide only half as much -regen as whatever set your hypothetical debuff friend is probably using, and limit you to 30 at a time, so if you can't solo the GM with daggers in
That said, I do agree that temporary powers aren't quite in the same category as IOs, because you have an extremely finite supply of temporary powers (easily refilled with a trip to the university or your SG base, or even with Field Crafter if you have it, but none of those are easy to do in the middle of a fight). Lore pets, despite you not liking them, are a permanent part of the character - they can't run out of charges - but their DPS does kind of mask how much is being done by the actual character.
So, "I can solo GMs with Lore pets" = valid (IMO), but "I can solo the same GMs you can, if I use my Lore pets" doesn't say much about how the two characters stack up to each other. But then, comparing GM soloing between a character that can debuff regen and another that can't doesn't say much about how they stack up to each other, either, except for the specific purpose of soloing GMs. That's not to say your Archery/Mental can't do other things well, since clearly it can, but you can solo GMs for a reason that is largely irrelevant to your ability to do most other things.
Actually, I play Support ATs. Soloing GMs since before IOs was a pretty common thing. And with out Incarnate Powers.
So, to that end... 1) I Solo GMs. 2) You Trio GMs with IOs and Incarnate Powers. And then we add in powers like Hasten, Combat Jumping, and so on. End Result: You need a full team to beat a GM. |
Soloing GM's with a support AT is easy. I'd like to see those support AT's farm max setting spawns at high speeds. If I wanted a support AT GM soloer, I could have made one for half the price of my Blaster. I didn't want that. I wanted a character that could solo GM's without cheating, solo tough enemy groups on the highest difficulty settings, and compete at the highest level of AOE damage. The only possible build that can do what Arch/Ment can do is the Plant/Psi Dom, and I still haven't confirmed that the AOE speeds are really matched since it relies on confusion so heavily. Your logic is really ridiculous and I feel like a part of you has to realize that... Pool powers being an 'outside source' just as much as temps? Come on. You need to see how ridiculous that sounds.

Also, the past King of Farming: Fire Control/Kinetics. Now impossible to die with Bonfire.
Yeah. Controllers can farm plenty fast.
Or did you forget that Fire/Kin was the original King? And is still competitive.
I'd tell you both to knock it off, but this thread ran its course about five pages ago after the Drain Psyche. Think it's lock time.
Doms seem a little short on mass damage, but that's entirely theorycraft on my side. What are the key aspects I'm overlooking?

As for the topic of soloing AVs/GMs, I think it's all valid as long as you make it clear what constraints you're using. I'm not going to look down on people who have beaten final fantasy 6 just because I've done a Celes/Edgar/Setzer only game in it. Beating a GM with temp powers is still pretty tough, and no one expects GM soloing to happen with no enhancements, inspirations, incarnate enhancements, or ancillary pool powers. Personally, I don't care for allowing temp powers because there's no limitation on them. There is no using the temp power system more intelligently.
Hello everyone,

Also, there is one MASSIVE flaw with your argument: A -Regen debuff from another player would use their AT Scale.
Temporary Powers use YOUR AT Scale, thus they are from YOUR character.
