Want to start to PVP & need a build
What sort of budget do you have with which you will be building this pvp toon?
[Union Chat]Sebaddon: If you want to, we will, if you think it's weird, no, that's damz, not us.
[Union Chat]Damz: hey cyber, i am your naked pope for the evening, please confess to me my child
Hi Shield-Strength, if you're interested in learning about PvP, we've got a beginner friendly channel/SG/VG on Virtue.
Here's the main thread about it, with a bit of an introduction.

We hold events for those who are almost strictly PvE looking to learn how to PvP. Then we hold events where you use what you've learned.
While SS/Invul can be strong as in hard to kill, the mechanics in PvP (Travel Suppression slowing you down) along with lag not allowing you to connect hits, and little range to switch targets and contribute damage with the team as effectively, I would not recommend an SS/invul. This is coming from someone who mained an SS/invul brute for over 2 years in PvP. It can be fun sometimes, but with the current state of PvP I could not be as effective as a ranged character.
That being said, I would recommend a ranged character of some type, or a stalker. Being in hide is somewhat like pseudo range, since your opponent can't attack you until you attack them. This allows you a free big melee attack, giving stalkers enough burst to be useful for spikes.
By the end of today, our leaders will have decided upon times for the upcoming events. I'm thinking, 1 event the same as we had (for beginners), 1 that's a little advanced (tricks for those who PvP) and 1 that's actually PvP (Most likely kickball with leaders as the leaders).
Hopefully you can come join us, we're always open to those interested in PvP.

PvP Redux is discontinued, for obvious reasons. Thanks to everyone who helped and joined.

Sounds fun. My only character right now is a SD/SS tank. But from what I've just read ranged toons are preferred. I don't know a lot about ranged toons as far as the best categories. Can you point me in the right direction or provide a build so that I can make the toon on Virtue? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

As far as ranged builds go it depends entirely on what you're trying to get out of it. Fire/em blasters or Psi/em Blasters are a good place to start blaster wise. Mind/fires and Earth/fires are good as well. If I were you I would try shy away from the likes of therms or poisons until you at the very least have the basic understanding of PvP.

I vote for starting out on Virtue, and maybe give Freedom a try later. It'll shape you better as a player.
Roll a PB
Light Form, Dull Pain, Reconstruction, 3 fast range attacks to chain, 2 great melee attacks, and some other stuff.
Easily the most versatile toon I've ever played,
Fight The Power
Oh and you also will get a resist aura for smash lethal and of course energy negative fire all that shabam. But I jus took shining shield. And photon seekers are awesome.
I suggest going all human. Even for pvp. You will rule pve if you build right. Take the 1 aoe and 1 cone attack. Always helps.
If you're on freedom i'll show you my build but I do not have mids.
Fight The Power
Ok I logged my toon and heres my power selection:
The whole build revolves around damage output and dps and survival. RV pvp. Almost gank proof. Fly is so underrated these days its stupid.
Luminous Blast: Glinting Eye, Glinting Blast, Proton Scatter, Luminous Detonation, Radiant Strike, Incandescent Strike, Inner Light, Dawn Strike, Photon Seekers, Gleaming Bolt
Luminous Aura: Incandescence, Essence Boost, Shining Shield, Reform Essence, Light Form
Speed: Hasten, Super Speed
Leaping: Combat Jumping, Super Jump
Concealment: Grant Invis, Invisibility, Phase Shift (Yes I have not respeced this toon in awhile so I still run that instead of the other luminou aura phase fly power)
Leadership: Assault, Tactics

Awesome....thank you for posting!
A Tank is a good starter build to have in PVP.You will enjoy the experience with Super Strength /Invul. Be aware that Unstoppable has a vicious health and end drop once exspired, and the recharge is long.Unstoppable is great but try not to depend on it.
I think you will learn more about the nature of PVP by being on something tougher like a tank.A squishy build like blaster to start with is not the easiest road.Once you have taken part in the melee you will be able to see what suits your fighting style the best.
sd/ss is not bad if you want to zone 1v1 or arena 1v1 - you probably have to do a second build for pvp...you at least get a start and can duke it out and learn what works what does not, get advice from other melee players. If you want to team a tank is still a vialble option you just have to change your tactics. Taunt and immob/holds become your major contributions. Being able to taunt the dmg off your support or dmg, throwing webs or earth holds - if you want to go that route make sure your build has a lot of hp and a lot of res or at least an escape power.

Which Incarnates are you using?
Hi There,
I've been playing PVE for a while now and really would like to get into PVP. However I'm at a quandry as to what type of build to make. I hear super Strength/Invul is pretty touch along with regen stalkers. If someone could give me some pointers and perhaps a build, I would be much appreciative. I'm willing to trade influence for a good build. Just hit me up and let me know.
