Best Merit to Inf Ratio?
Atm? Probably converters. Then shop around, buy up some cheap sets and convert them. Like snatch up a 1-3 mil Soldiers of Arachnos ATO and convert it. Good chances you'll get something worth 20-50 mil. But there's probably some better conversions you could do.
Converters are definitely the best amount of money per merit still, I think. Convert to HAMs first, then burn HAMs on merits so you're getting 10 for 50 instead of 5 for 50. It's worth paying 4m per extra converter at the moment.
From there, lots of choices to convert.
- non-damage purples->damage purples
- non-stealth celerities
- kb: kd
- non-proc/global universal travels
There's a lot of options, really. I know some people did well flipping cheap Red Fortunes using out-of-set category converts to the LotG set, but I think that may have saturated? Haven't looked.

There were also people flipping cruddy Doctored Wounds (think End/rech) into Numinas - that too may have saturated.
I've been scratching two itches at once by rolling L30/33/35 randoms and then upcycling the terrible ones a la Regretsy. Seems to take about five converters to make a decent L30 IO out of a bad one. That's not efficient compared to, say, spending an average of two converters to turn a sleep Purple into an Armageddon.
Which in turn is not that efficient compared to buying a crafted Armageddon for 220 million and selling it back for 350.
The place I've made most of my money is converting purples and converting Kin Combats, but I'm more concerned with "hey, would THIS work?" than optimizing my inf gains. (Where THIS is turning L40 Titanium Coatings into any other dam resist, or whatever ...) It's hard to do worse than 10M per converter, and with purps you might be able to get 40M per converter. I tend to do about 20M, flailing at random.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
Red Fortune -> LotG is pretty badly saturated, but there's still a lot of room for more DW -> Numina's converts.
I made the vast majority of mine on buying every purple recipe I could get my hands on and selling Apoc/Arm/Heca/Rag. Takes a lot more loose capital to get a good churn going, but your profit per converter is a lot higher. Even with only a 50% hit rate on good conversions I was doing 60-70M per converter. A quick glance says that the recipes have floated up a bit, but so have the good pieces. It's probably still a solid 50M per converter.
1000 merits -> 20 AMerits -> 200 Converters -> 10B Inf. Minus a bunch of fees for conversion and market taxes, of course.
The basic thing about flipping purples (or PVPIOs) is that not only is your profit-per-flip likely to be higher, but you're also not using up as many converters, since it's only one per flip, compared to 2 or 3 for type/set conversions.

thanks, gang!
this deluge of merits (and also AT IOs, I ended up with 15 or so) has me hoping against hope that the days of poor-whining on the forums are over- it seems to me anyone with a couple of tokens to burn can rake in a few hundred million in the time it takes to flip some cards.

The only problem here is that it's hard to find recipes for purples on the market nowadays. Until that dies down, it'll be a bit slow. This is just from my experience, however. The money is still pretty darn good, considering I've made close to 1.2 billion in the past few days.

I forget the context, but someone was wishing for a market transaction cap not too long back, but it was definitely pre-converters.

My City Was Gone
So over the course of my CoH career I've probably earned less than 100 merits total- I can't team much and even when I can rarely have the time for running TFs. I ran Katies for the recipe back in the day, but that's about it.
Cut to Freedom and the devilishly addictive Super Packs.
I dabbled a bit before shrugging and blowing points on the 25 pack value buy the other night, intending to pick up the rest of the Elemental Order costume.
Among the rest of the phat lewt I ended up with nearly a thousand (!) merits.
So....uh, what do I do with them?
Or rather, what's the most efficient way for me to turn those merits into $$$$$ for the Crazy 88's INF-ferno?
All advice welcome!
