Concept Help: Council Vampyr
Whenever I've fought a council vamp they have always shot at me with ranged attacks and controls. Seems more like a Dom.
Having said that, since your breaking away so much from what a council vamp is it really shouldnt matter what you pick.
Now if you want advice on what sets are better, I'd go with dark. Both sets offer no defense so they take a lot of funding to make up for that but at least dark gives you resistance in the mean time. Plus it gives you mez auras which at least kinda makes you council vamp like.
Regen is a very hard set to use and you will eat it plenty of times on the way to 50. Which isnt usually the case with brutes. Granted my experience is with a scrapper so you'll have higher passive regen but i doubt that would make a huge difference.
Dark or Regen would go well for that concept; Willpower might work too, but stalker /wp with its active heal is slightly more "vampyrish." I did a dark/wp scrap once as a vampyr/warwolf hybrid that went rogue. Dark is probably more survivable than regen due to layered defenses, but a mature /Regen with brute hp caps (and high s/l def, and hefty recharge) would do well too.
Not sure what you mean by dark/ lacking "straight up attacks?" Single-target, dark/ is one of the best in the biz, considering its additional utility of -tohit, end recovery power, the fear if you choose to take it (it's very useful while leveling), and Siphon Life. Dark's aoe isn't good, but a dmg aura and patron aoe would help that.
If you're still stumped, try both and pick the style that appeals most to you.

But yes, if you're breaking away from the actual (apparent) AT of the vampyri, then a dark/dark scrapper or brute seems most likely. Kinda getting mixed signals from the OP. Are you more concerned with purity of concept (in which case the mind/dark dom IS the closest option)? Or are you more concerned with game efficiency, with only a superficial resemblance to a "real" vampyr (in which case, anything is fair game)?
Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas
Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.
Yeah, Dark Blast is what comes to mind when I think Council Vampyr.

Mind/Dark is a bit more logical, but I wanted efficiency while still resembling the concept to a degree.
...So, I mean. Dark/Regen works.
If only I could be Mind/Dark/Regen...

i think the vampyri have a dark assault like primary with regen secondary, then they have a psi APP for the mez powers
personally when i see them i think more of the dark attacks and regen secondary
DM/Regen or WP/Soul Mastery (for Gloom)
Under construction
So, I would like to make a Rogue Council Vampyr as a brute. But I need advice.
First of all, Secondaries. My two big choices right now are Regeneration and Dark Armor. Regeneration certainly looks good, but I dunno how to run it on a Brute.
Then, Primaries. Dark Melee might work well with Regen, but the lack of straight up attacks worries me.
Anyone have a better alternative? Advice?
