You have given me a lot to think about so thank you for all your advice

I am going to spend the rest of the night trying to make a build which reaches a set of targets, but am failing badly so far. If I don't make it I might open a build competition because it is doing my head in lol.

Though I suspect my targets might be a tad unrealistic.

I can iCap a Huntsman*, but I've not seen a good way to iCap a crab.

However, the solution is actually pretty easy. Vengeance, Purple Candy, and Kinetic Dampeners. The Crab has everything you could ever desire, sans the candy. For regular missions use bases, /auctionhouse, etc, to stock medium purples. Kinetic Dampener temps last 30 minutes and are easy to craft. Use each as needed and you can easily get through a trial or mission, and restock/recraft/recharge between missions/trials.

The iCapped Huntsman gives up Aid Self in order to iCap defense. I'm not currently running the iCap version, as I'm debating the value of the iCapped version vs a standard soft-capped version with aid self. The build can be found in my archives below, or as a direct link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15076020/Hun...0Incarnate.mxd.

Glad to be of help. Once again, going back to survival, we've got accolades and always have res/def insps clogging up our trays so I wouldn't overly obsess over defense... but I understand where you're coming from. Just remember, there's no inspirations for recharge.

Best of luck to you on your build. Feel free to global me @blue ruckus if you have any questions.

very interesting thread here. To blue ruckus, how is the survivability of your pets? I find that in tougher content my spiderlings would die pretty frequently. My crab isn't tricked out with all the T4s yet either, so I am wondering how your pet based crab fares in iContent after a "finished" build.

Best,
MT

Lack of Crab RES, Serum, and other Crabby goodness makes me sad.

I recently spec'd in to the 4 pet IOs and they've provided a nice survival boost. On top of double maneuvers and barrier, they stay alive a good while. Based on the trial, I wait to spawn them until needed for hard targets. I kinda have a routine for each trial. For instance on DD, I pull them out for the Sentinel fight and they usually refresh by the time you're defending inside of Mot. I don't, however pull them out right then and there but rather I save them for the upcoming Diabolique fight. Once everyone's set up on Diabolique, I drop all the spiders right on top of her and they just go to town.

For normal missions I just keep them out at all times as my AoE chain is more effective for steamrolling. The pets are just an extra luxury at that point.

After giving this some serious though I decided that I can probably do without i-capped defences, but set myself some very tough build goals which I haven't managed to reach yet.

Blueruckus' build was a great inspiration, and I decided that picking up the patron pet looked like a good idea, but I also convinced myself into Bayonet (Which meant that from his build I had to drop Vengeance). That also meant that I couldn't be a Hovercrab , which isn't a bad thing gameplay wise but made the build harder because I needed melee defence too.

I have made a list of build goals, and a build template which I am taking to the general build thread as a competition. Sadly I am not sure my goals are possible, but we will see...

I will link that post soon and hopefully some of you might have a look, there is a prize on offer

Here is what I decided to do with my crabspider. I don't like the proc from the ATO set. So, I decided to try and up my defense and resistance a bit with the Shield Wall, Glad Armor, and Wolf Spider Armor, and I put the Panacea proc into my health. This is not a tanking build. But, I can solo some things on +4 =8. Total recharge is at 220%. Perma Hasten and all perma pets. If you wanted more recharge, you could probably drop the Wolf Spider Armor and pick up Grant Invis (since it doesn't continually drain endurance), and use it as a mule power for your 5th LoTG 7.5, which would give you 227.5% recharge. But to me, since I'm already perma hasten, perma pets, the defense and resistance took more priority and seemed like a smarter choice. Overall? Very happy with this build.

It's looks like that build focused on packing in as much recharge as possible. Beyond double maneuvers and the 2 +def uniques I dont see any other defense. Considering diminishing returns on recharge once you get in the 180 range, I'm not sure how viable it would be to continue adding recharge instead of defense.

Just my opinion and I'm sure he's adapted to learn to play his build well. To each their own.

Edit: Not to say its not a good build. The crab build I used for a very long time had defenses similar to this and it was still a badass crab. I received some grief over not being softcapped but still did well. Also, I do see CJ and CT: Defensive so you're sitting in low 30s on def. Perma-serum and Fortification will mitigate everything else.

Without going into a great deal of detail I would get the 5 Red Fortunes out of TT:M. You don't need that 5% recharge and the slots could find better homes quite easy.

The rest of the build looks solid enough, though probably over the top on recharge and under the top on defence as others have said.
