No "Calls for help" to characters that can't
Doubt they'll change it. It's viewed as an 'incentive' to Premiums, letting them know they can keep on getting stronger if they become ViP.
I could see them maybe adding a line for Free/Prems that indicates it's ViP only content though.

Read "Captain Nolan has requested help from someone with the power of incarnates." as "Subscribe to get access to awesome content you f00!!" and suddenly it's WAI.
Nothing to change here.

Hmm. So, a "Ha ha, you can't play this" dangled in front of someone is fine, but a severely time limited trial that lets you see the content is horrid and evil.
Interesting standards on these forums.

<_<
What?
I is confused... who said anything about time limited trials or even agreed that it was 'fine'?

GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

So, friend logged in - Premium, so no Incarnate abilities. What's he get? "Captain Nolan has requested help from someone with the power of incarnates."
Yeah. Premium. Doesn't have it. Result? Annoyed player. Not the way to make money or encourage them to spend it. How about checking if the person's actually VIP or not before sending the popup? (Which could also go for things like the PVP zones liasons.) |
When they open up the market interface, should all IOs be invisibled, too? Or is having IOs in the auction house mocking their Premium status?
Can we solicit other players in global channels for Incarnate tasks, or is that going to annoy Premiums?
For that matter, can I wear costume pieces or use temp powers others haven't bought?
This is a MMORPG, it has 'RP' in the genre. So, tell your friend to role-play it and say to themselves: "Sorry Captain, I'm not an Incarnate...yet."

In another thread the poster suggested the devs give free/prem players access to Incarnate content for 72 hours once or twice a month that didn't get the rousing support that was apparently desired.
|
The suggestion was that, up to twice a month, on hitting 50 they'd get to try out incarnate stuff. NOT that it would open up 1-2 times a month for them for their 50s.

Little different than what you said. I do NOT appreciate being misrepresented.
And I'm going to request, again, that you remove my quote from your sig. Perhaps you'll see it here.
So, should the portal to Praetoria be invisible to Premiums, too? Or is ostentatiously showing a portal mocking their Premium status?

The game can detect that you're VIP already, since it already disables Incarnate powers/zones. No new tech needed there. If those are greyed out, *don't pop up the window.*
Wow, real stretch there.
Want to try again?
And watching these boards, I can see why the "forum cartel" accusation comes up. Same people arguing against virtually anything and everything. (No, I don't agree with it, I'm just pointing it out. Seems more like there are just a few people that are so jealous of their "elite" status *cough* they want nothing to change.) Worse since some of the more helpful vets left a while ago.

If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.
Thus proving either (1) you DIDN'T actually read the suggestion, (2) you were confused and felt asking questions was beneath you, or (3) you're a liar and trying to reword things.

Here's the original post.
So, you want to get freebies to subscribe and premiums to resubscribe for a while? Show them what they're missing.
Step 1: Unlock Mender Ramiel. Let everyone run it. You don't really get a reward, other than a shard and the unlock. But it lets people get a toe into the incarnate system who otherwise don't have one. Step 2: Give a taste. When a character hits 50 (limit of 1 per month, or 1 every 2 weeks or whatever, if there has to be a throttle to discourage PLing) let them be "full" VIPs - no free points/tokens/etc, but let them try out the trials, the SSAs, an extra slot with locked powersets (with full warning that "This is just a test run, these will be re-locked unless you subscribe/buy them!") for, say, 72 hours realtime. Some people won't care. Others will want to get going, or re-unlock those slots or powersets, which can only bring in money. |
Yeah it's obvious I didn't read it. <snerk>
I notice you didn't highlight his "When someone hits 50" in your drive to prove him wrong.
Plus, looking at the original thread, there's no "stealth edit." In case you haven't noticed, the forums will say "Last edit." (See below.) So, you're a liar as well.
Disgusting. But I don't expect any less.
Oh, and you don't do what he asks to remove his quote from your sig. I think it's time for the mods to get involved, since you're just trolling him at this point.

Not a threat. Done already.
And I note you still didn't do what he asked. Removing his name is not what was asked, so you seem to be wanting to do nothing but troll him. Grow up.
And he quoted the relevant area. You want nothing more than to start fights.

I don't see how hard "Please remove my quote from your signature" is to understand.
Do notice that it's different from "remove my name."
I can't help but think that Stormbird is right. I'm not sure why you seem to take pride in giving the forum community a bad name.

I shouldn't have let his meddling influence my first decision. Editing the sig for you now.

I was thinking your request over while editing my base and had decided to tell you I was going to change the sig but I read Storm's post and got stubborn about it.

As to your previous request, I think some things need to stay gated especially for those paying for the game. Pretty much anything can be paid for ala carte without monthly subs. Having post 50 progression be purely VIP seems fair to me. It's not a matter of feeling elitist or anything; it's a matter of feeling like I'm actually paying for something when I subscribe. A one time 72 hour VIP pass for a players first 50 as a Preem? Sure, that seems reasonable and a decent enough marketing ploy. Everytime you hit 50 even with some timed gating? Nah, that seems a bit much. Just my opinion. YMMV

I thought I was clear with that, and with the numbers being solely something thrown out for example. Apparently not.
... actually, let me go back and do some revising in the other post.
