Croatoa cabal - +Perception?

I don't know if I just didn't notice before or if this is new:

Playing Gordon Bower's arc, I got to the "free ghosts from cabal" arc. I'm already on a character that blows through END rapidly, so I figured I'd use my Combat Invisibility temp power (invis +the ability to fight.)

Try to pass a group of minions - they attack.

Well, it's a Fire controller, maybe I forgot to turn off Hot Feet. Try again, make sure it's off, and not only does the group I pass attack, but another spawn runs in (that I shouldn't be in aggro range of.)

This is really weird behavior. I don't remember them having +Per, just being standard mobs. Am I remembering wrong, is this new, or is CI broken? (I know I've stealthed through areas before with this.)

Here's a bit of a long shot...

The Maven of Ministry has O2 Boost.
The player version of O2 Boost increases perception.
In certain Croatoa missions, some enemy spawns fight other spawns. While that would be weird for the "Free Ghosts" mission, I'm pretty sure I've occasionally seen Cabal vs Cabal fights.

So here's what I'm imagining:
Before you rounded the particular corner that would let you see this group, they fought against and were damaged by another NPC group. The Maven of Ministry in the spawn then begins throwing around O2 boost, topping up her spawn's HP. This causes this spawn to look like a fresh group, but that O2 boost increased the perception of whichever witches were healed. The healed witch sees you, throws a lightning bolt at you and alerts her spawn that there's a hero in their midst, thus they all attack.

Huh.

The power Combat Invisibility might not be strong enough to give you true Invisibility.

Most +Stealth powers need to be stacked with some other form of stealth to just walk past spawns.

However atm i cant seem to find the stats fro this temp ill do a bit more digging.

There is but one truth. Time is limited. ndnw its over

Many members of the Cabal have a power called [Positioning]. It's meant to keep them fighting at a distance rather than close to melee range. Unfortunately, it works like a short range PBAoE auto hit attack. If you get within 8' of one, you get hit by it and your stealth will drop.

See The Cabal and last paragraph of Ignoring Stealth

I thought only Longbow Eagles had that power, but since certain members of the Cabal are ranged fliers, that makes a lot of sense. Also, it explains why they do that annoying thing where they fly up to you, then run away before they even attack - just like Eagles.

EDIT: The wiki article only mentions Eagles and Cabal. What other enemies have Positioning?

Bright Novas (Paragon Police) - but not Dark Novas??, Elder Mambas (Snakes), Pyros (Destroyers), Northern Lights (from the Winter Event "trial"). I might have missed one or two in my combing.

In addition to most Cabal and also Longbow Eagles.

As to the enemy groups fighting amongst themselves....

I noticed this bug at least a couple years back, with Legacy Chain first.
I call it the "civil war bug".
It has since spread to a lot more enemy groups, notably Syndicate(not the opposing missions either).

I think the code that allowed same faction enemies to fight each other has been randomly activating for some enemies around the game.

As for the Combat Invisibility temp power....are you sure it was still active when you went in to fight?
Whenever I have stealth I also monitor my PVE stealth radius in the combat attributes to make sure I am hidden.

You may have gotten too close to one enemy, within the 65ft default perception radius with no stealth, and them attacking you dropped your stealth, which would let the other group farther away see you.

Only a couple stealth powers in the game actually keep the stealth radius when detected, preventing further detection by enemies not aggroed or part of the "group aggro". Those are Superior Invisibility and Energy Cloak, maybe some others.

You might want to take time to read the previous posts.

65' isn't the default perception radius. See Stealth and Perception. It's 45' for minions/underlings, 50' for Lieuts, 54' for Bosses, with a few others (GMs, snipers) having more.
