I think it's because he's still getting over being drowned in an apple-bobbing tub by a psycho kid who was masquerading as his boyfriend.

This movie is just going to suck like the last one. Star Trek is not an action franchise. They are making it more a mindless action franchise while ignoring the deeper philosopical meanings to cater to the moronic dregs of society. Expect no plot. no character development , contrived behavior, mindless action, no spirit...all while making the intelligent watcher feel a sense of inadequacy.

I liked the reboot movie, personally. Better than at least one of the Original Series-based movies, and all of the Next Generation-based movies. Despite the villain (and his motives) being terrible, characters being paraded by rather than fully developed, and an awkward appearance by Leonard Nimoy.
