I need an Archer

I was just wondering, do defenders get /kin? I was just playing my brute and it was SO INVIGORATING to kill an enemy in 1 shot with a "long bow" temp power I got, im thinking /kin might pair well.

I know /Kin is awesome for pumping up those damage numbers

Is this a joke? '06 registration date so you figure it almost has to be...

But yes, defenders get kinetics, as a primary, so it is kin/.

I don't think it has any particular synergy with Archery, but certainly kin is a solid set and you can't go wrong there...

For Trick Arrow, one combo I find very good is Illusion/TA. It adds hard control to Illusion, and the various /TA debuffs are good with Phantom Army. And both PA & Phantasm have ranged attacks so the AI refusing to go onto the Oil Slick doesn't matter. Just make sure you pick Tech or Magic origin to make lighting the Slick easy with the Origin power.

Arch/Kin Corr can be truely epic. Especially when they have a Brute/Tank to follow behind to absorb the aggro while they quickly fulcrum and then back up to cast Rain of Arrows.

Outside that, just convert all insps to [luck]s and pop a couple to make sure you're soft capped (45% defense to all), and then Fulcrum + Back up for Rain of Arrows as if 'you're' the Brute/Tank. Convert more insps, rinse and repeat.

It's a great combo, I must say. Love mine myself.

do you want something that can solo somewhat safely or mostly play teams?
Arch/Kin Corr is good on teams but you have to get in melee range at times so best for teams.

archery/energy blaster can be pretty fun, has decent synergy and can be IO'd for ranged defense very cheaply.

If you solo a lot, I like Illusion/TA controller. Illusion has decent damage, you have your built-in tankers with PA, and /TA is a debuff set so it works well with illusions (PA is not buffable so works best with debuff sets). If you have issues with redraw, you can get away with only taking a few of the Illusion powers.
I need to warn you that it's weak at the early levels, and blooms in the 30s.
I can be "too safe" for some.

If you're mostly about concept, can't stand redraw, or want to do damage, an Arch/TA is always fun.

Except archery is all ranged with no PBAOEs and 1 cone so there is nothing really great synergy wise here. And there will still be redraw. Kinetics is also one of the few sets that works well with crashing nukes, but again that is not relevant here.

Yes, rain of arrows is awesome and yes kinetics boosts damage. I still back my claim to no particular synergy though.

Edit: This is not to say it wouldn't work great as a combo. Both are strong sets.

Well, that's for the present fight. Basically you can use one group to soak a fulcrum, then take out the next with a damage capped hail of pointy sticks. I don't have a kinetics/archer, but on my archery blaster I'd basically go melee with my kinetic teammate to soak a fulcrum shift, then kill the next group even before finishing the present one.

I've been playing an Archery/TA Corr for awhile now, who's a lot of fun.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I've FINALLY made my choices:
1. Kin/Archery Defender (I thought hard about this one, and I figured the lack of perfect synergy might be a good challenge)
2. Archery/TA Corruptor - just because its a classic

Both are very pleasing so far!
