Firey melee overall???

thinking of making somthing with FA, how is its DPS, does it hit fairly hard? ( i love killing things fast ) how does it copare to other sets? its a fire so id assume its dps is decent at least, im looking to make somthing that kills alot, and with good speed, not just ST, AOE too, i realize it only has one AOE , is it decent?( not worried bout secondary) will this fufill my wish?

Fiery aura is a very fun set. My favorite melee set actually. It definitely hits hard, being fire and all. I'm not 100% on this, but I believe that it has the best single-target DPS except at very high levels of recharge, where dark melee edges it out by a hair.

It actually has 2 AoEs, but one (fire breath) is a very narrow cone, and generally regarded as not worth taking. Fire sword circle is very good though.

All in all, fire's a great set, and you won't be disappointed with it. It will definitely drop things quickly. The only real downside to it is that it adds absolutely nothing to survivability.

I'm doing a Fire Melee character myself, and I am loving him. He kills things quite fast.

Going against the two things firespray said:

-It does add to survivalbility by killing before you are killed. :P

-And I on the other hand love Fire Breath, though I use it for Single target and smile if I get an extra foe or two in it.

I have a Fire/Fire Scrapper. That is one serious killing machine. The only thing is the mobs including Bosses run from you like crazy.


The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

If you're thinking of making a melee alt with Fiery Aura (the 'armour' secondary), you might want to consider Brute or Tanker, as the best damage power in it (Burn), will frighten away mobs if there isn't a taunt component anywhere (which Brutes and Tankers have).

Fire Melee (the 'attack' primary) on the other hand is just pure awesome, trading stuff like knockdowns or -tohit which other powersets might have for just plain more damage.

Yep, dont know much about fiery melee, but fiery aura is good on scrappers but uber on brutes.
If you want to roll a fiery aura character, you better try as brute.

To be perfectly honest, the BEST fire toons are tanks.

Fire/fire tanks were...unbeliveable...when the game was released.

They still are.

In my mind the big difference is Combustion. Fire tanks once built out are insanely durable and STILL do ridiculous amounts of damage. Roll the tanker, you will be amazed.

definitly not going fiery aura, not tough enough for me, im not sure what secondary, but i will post it for revision as i always do, so you will find out soon enough. i will not be going the tank path however, i simply love those orange numbers, and tanks dont have enough of them for me. the responses so far for fiery melee are just what i as hoping for, lots of damage, this toon should be fun

To be fair, you were the one who implied you would be taking Fiery Aura in the first place, haha.

FA = Fiery Aura

If you want to pair up Fiery Melee (aka FM) with a secondary which helps boost damage as well as give you another AoE to play with, try the unholy combination of Fiery Melee/Shield Defense. Generally considered one of the scrapper monsters when it comes to damage, although a lot of shield people are currently griping about no more 95% resist defense debuff due to Hami-O patch, haha.

Gonna agree with mauk2, if you want to punch people with fire, tank is the way to go. Two PBAoEs is just too good.

Scrappers and Brutes have more ST fire to slap people around, but tanks have presence. "I am here, and all you are going to burn, now."

Don't listen to the silly tankers - if you want to lay waste to everything, make a fire/sd scrapper and pimp it out.

I started working on my FM/WP scrapper for the past two weeks (one of my several projects) and I log him on for action about 80% of the time, which I don't have too much of. I think I'm at level 42 and I can't wait until I get fireball and really go to town.
