have a serious problem.
After beating down all other paths, it looks like what this is, is a buffering issue. The game goes out of sync with what is on my hard drive, causing the pigg files to become corrupted or read as such. I have no idea what to do to fix this, nor any idea why it suddenly became a problem only recently when I've been playing on this hardware for months with no problems.
Did you ever try testing the memory as was suggested last week?

Edit: upon my insistance, I got my spouse to get me a different hardware scanning utility, and it seems that a bit of the RAM is bad. I bought a couple of new sticks and we'll see if the problem goes away.
although I'm on a mac, ive had some troubles using the launcher, fairly similar symptoms to what you're describing.
My stone age work around is to launch CoH by double clicking the App. from my programs list.
This fixed the problem ive been having with CoH not launching properly.......
RAM replaced. Problem FIXED.
The game is now behaving.
"Champion (the Community Server... or GTFO) is like a small town where everyone knows each other's names, for better or worse." -kojirodensetsu.
"If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail." - Maslow's Hammer
It could be the driver version. I've not seen enough reports about the 12.1 drivers to know if people are having problems with them and CoH.
The last one I've heard across the board good reports on are the 11.9 drivers. I'm still running those and not having any issues with the game.
You can download the 11.9 drivers for Windows XP from ATI's site using this link.
You can download Driver Sweeper from MajorGeeks using this link.
Once you have downloaded both of those, follow the instructions in the post Tex made above.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
