States???
Ok, I have been out for a WHILE (been in a place that rhymes with Spytim, hee hee hee) and of course as soon as I get back I want to try the new SSA's. Ok, coolin. But after the last one I jot on over to Indep. Port and who is standing right there in front of me on the deck of that ship?? Has there been a Dev post on what is up with that? I thought they had the tech in place to make NPC's disappear depending on where you were in the storyline? Just curious.

(Either that, or a future storyline episode will bring him back to life. After all, he's been dead before. Last time, Manticore killed himself to go drag him back to life )
I think the phasing technology is only available in Atlas Park and Mercy Island.

Development wise, without a ressurection, the easiest thing to do would be to replace Statesman with a new, non Marcus Cole, Statesman but I hope that the development will follow the narrative rather than the other way around.

In Paragon City since June 2005.
If you check the Dev Digest, you should be able to find a post or two from Posi a couple weeks ago confirming this.
Statesman will remain in the game as-is for the time being. Phasing technology will NOT be used on him; he will remain there for everyone, and then will be removed for everyone. He will be removed from all missions, task forces, and the game world, with someone replacing him where needed (most people assume Hero One or Ms. Liberty will be replacing him). All badges related to him (such as for fighting him in Recluse's Victory) will have their requirements updated. The changes will all go live with the release of Issue 23.
@Roderick
Yes, the devs will be retconning Statesman out of existence, until he manages to break the dimensional barrier by punching it really hard.
I find your lack of signature disturbing.

He will be mentioned quite frequently by people, and will probably get a statue somewhere.

Main Character: Ice/Storm/Ice Controller (Justice, 1340 badges)
The impression I've gotten is that removing Statesman isn't going to be the only significant change to the world, we just haven't had the reveal on the other stuff yet. They want to roll out all of the story-related changes at once, I suspect primarily for version control and reduction of maintenance downtime.

It's a Statesman robot. Just like Superman used to use robots to sub in for him when he would be gone for a while.

The big problem is that when Statespooch is the contact all he says to you is Bark! Bark bark bark! And you have to try and figure out what you're supposed to do from there.
