 Not that I'm saying they're high class works of cinema genius, written to by writers who make shakespear stand up in his grave and appluad. But they're fun escapism (for some) and that's all that matter. And let's all just remember, as bad as you think RE is. As bad as you think the sequals are. RE and it's sequals blow Mortal Kombat: Annialation out of the water! I consider these some of the best video game to movie films, and really, I hate the games.  I'm 100% sure I will watch these in the theater. I'm 99% sure I'll enjoy it! Yes, I'm willing to give that 1% chance, but so far the RE movie series is 4 for 4 for me! |
And the reason one might consider these the best video game movie adaptations is because the rest of the field is so god awful.

Also: Looks like a fun movie, the more Milla the better.
(There is a reason why I watch Ultraviolet when it's on, and it isn't because it's a good movie).

Zombies (Hopefully NOT nekkid)
And right now the RE films are starting to catch up to Romero franchise in number, of course not in quality...They have Milla though.

I think I spotted a few characters from the 2nd RE movie as well. Are they going with some kind of Lost time travel nonsense?

Well, obviously Michelle Rodriguez to play Rain, as well as Oded Fehr to play Carlos and Boris Kodjoe as Luther. They've casted for the roles for Ada Wong, Leon Kennedy, even Wesker, and Sienna Guillory is back to play Jill Valentine to stay true to the R.E. games. Don't see Claire or Chris Redfield in the cast.
(Oh wait wasn't Wesker in a previous movie?)
Eh, I just assumed Anderson kept making them as a way to subject audiences to his wife's weak acting.
I've been a fan of the games since the get-go and I believe there is absolutely no way the plot line (especially at this point) would have made a decent movie. To quote Sam Raimi, quoting Dino De Laurentiis in the Evil Dead 2 commentary: "Sam, Sam...you can't have one man on screen alone for 30 minutes"...which to remain faithful to the original Resident Evil story would been just that (Yes, yes, there are exceptions to this rule...but I wouldn't lump popcorn flicks into the same class of cinema as those exceptions).
I can appreciate what they've done to the Resident Evil brand, and if it means I keep getting to play games like Revelations and Operation Raccoon City because of said popularity in the Resident Evil brand...hooray for Hollywood.
