I would love to see a bear as the tier 3 pet. There are to many wolves in that set.

I want to try Beast/Traps, but if I used Detonator on them I'd feel like I was committing cruelty to animals. :-(

I think it's because art resources are seriously scarce at Paragon Studios. They crank out costume sets, sure, but that's a lot easier than a full animal complete with skeleton.

They can't just make a skeleton that looks good as an image. They've also got to make sure every animation checks out all the time, in every situation a player might choose to put that bear. Even at that they don't always get everything.

Probably would happen if they could apply it to more than one powerset. Wolves worked for the new darkness set, so they got a "two for one" deal, kind of that way.

Indeed. As much as I would've loved a Bear, and infact the inclusion of the Dire may break the deal for me, the explanation given by the Dev's makes it clear it was an unreasonable request, given the resources needed.

I just hope the whole process hasn't tainted them on future MM primaries.

Maybe instead of wolves, the bottom tier should have been some kind of hyenna or dogs of different breeds, or maybe another type of cat smaller than a lion, just to break up the wolf.

Integrating big cats with wolves just feels kind of odd. It would make more sense to go one way or the other, or maybe make two sets out of it: one all wolves, and one all cats, thus getting the greatest bang for their buck on those art resources.

I like the idea, but the execution is a bit off for me. Rather than doing insects, birds, canine and feline all in one power set I would have rather have seen them divided up.

Insect Mastery could have started with Summon Bees up to Giant Wasp.

Birds could go from Bluejays (anyone ever have a bluejay nest outside your front door?) to Roc... or giant eagle.

Canine could have gone from German Shepards up to Dire Wolf.

Feline could have started at Lynx and gone up to Saber Toothed Tiger.

Of course, then there would have been the issue of which to release first...

Or they could throw MMs a customization bone and make all of those skins under the name of "Beast Mastery"
