What does bases have to do with the topic of the thread? The thread is about Tier 9 and the cheapest way to get there. By extension, since the OP later mentioned Tier 9 VIP it covers the discussions of the Tier 9 VIP rewards in the Paragon Market.
And what did all of that have to do with bases?
Oh right.
Nothing.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Oh, and VALUE is SUBJECTIVE. I have two accounts and have not even considered letting either lapse. I'm thrilled with the new stuff being released. I may not find something I like in every single Tuesday release, but I'm definitely pleased overall.

EDIT: After seeing the interface, I have to admit it looks like the way they'd actually implement it. I assume that is the way they're going to go now (but I still don't recall them coming out and saying so at any point after the Pummit).

The current business model is only a single quarter old.

Off topic, I cant be happier with all that stuff added in the last 3-4 months!!
Everything we asked for,new content, old content revamp, costumes, new powersets, more proliferation, etc...
To clarify a bit more, my plan was to un-sub, avoid the suscription, buy enough points, then re-sub when I was closer to T9 and stay as VIP.
That will be faster, but also I would avoid the feeling of paying "twice", I mean, paying for monthy stipend, and for tokens, then accumulating tons of points.

They felt like this aspect cut down on more people being able to land those tokens in a satisfactory way (I'd plunk down the cash for vet time, as opposed to just for points, personally).
I recall it being mentioned in Ustream(s) and I also know Zwill mentioned it in some replies about the subject... I think another red name (or more) have made some replies about it, but I've not hunted for these links.
I just recall reading them at the time.
You know how it is. Lots of replies here and there since!
I don't recall any official announcement/dedicated thread about this though... Each time, I just recall it being somewhat casual responses within ongoing discussions.

Yeah, it's entirely probable that it was stated in a ustream, and I didn't catch it, especially since multiple people agree. I just like to have the source when possible, but I guess the Beta reality is pretty convincing at this point.

I'm still trying to find a reason to resub. I'm left wondering whatever happened to that talk of base transfers. I'm left wondering where all the actual development ran off to hide. There has got to be some better ideas to come up with something that has global value to turn a profit. These vanity pets and purchasable powers are nice and all that, just not gonna get any money from me until I see quality value. Whatever happened to base development? One upgrade ...that took years to get.... and poof silence... again... Where's them color-able tiles? -floor and wall- wheres them sg transfers? wheres them base buffs? increased salvage? Wheres the benefit for large active sg's? What is the relevance of development when all we have now is "buy the next powerset, costume, emote, inconvenient underdeveloped detoggling vanity travel power"... you get the idea... I'd go further and say someone reliably dropped the ball, but the last thing I want to do is hurt someone's feelings, or get someone fired...
I dunno. Maybe I just need a hiatus and maybe quality and effort will show and wow the heck out of me.
... or maybe I will just know better than to bet on that horse... if that sounds familiar it should, because this position of disinterest... is familiar to me...
I refuse to call anyone in the industry hacks, or slackers, I really don't like those words especially when using them in these forums about my fav dev team.
I just wish the money would show up on time and deal with the issue of arrested development for once.
