what is a radio station for CoH?

how would I listen to it?
if I did listen to it, what would I hear?

why is there more than one?
and if I wanted to listen to one, why would I listen to yours?

Internet radio (also web radio, net radio, streaming radio, e-radio webcasting) is an audio service transmitted via the Internet. Music streaming on the Internet is usually referred to as webcasting since it is not transmitted broadly through wireless means.

Internet radio involves streaming media, presenting listeners with a continuous stream of audio that cannot be paused or replayed, much like traditional broadcast media; in this respect, it is distinct from on-demand file serving. Internet radio is also distinct from podcasting, which involves downloading rather than streaming. Many Internet radio services are associated with a corresponding traditional (terrestrial) radio station or radio network. Internet-only radio stations are independent of such associations.
In this case, this particular Internet radio station is not affiliated with City of Heroes (to my knowledge), but is geared towards fans of the game.

On their website (http://radioparagon.com), there are links that can be used with different programs like Windows Media, Winamp, Real Audio, etc.

Some Internet Radio stations have their own Player available on their website (usually as a Flash plugin) - something for Radio Paragon to look into ?

Good question, but since the flyer above says "Come Rock In The New Year", I believe that would be part of their music format.

Usually, the type of music offered by Internet Radio Stations depends more or less on the personnel of the station (aka "Internet DJs"), and can vary widely from 1 "show" to the next.

I dunno... why is there more than 1 TV channel ?

Well, you got me there, pardnuh....

NOTE: I am not affiliated in any shape or form to Radio Paragon, but as former Internet DJ I believe the questions asked (the first few ones, at least) had some merit...

Hai love! I'm "Radio Paragon Doll," and hopefully I can answer your questions--will do so to the best of my ability!

1. A radio station for CoH is (obviously) a radio station--player-run, and geared toward interacting with the CoH community! We try to cover SG costume contests and other events, as well as Dev-based events (such as the CoH Holiday Costume Contest held on the Virtue server on Dec. 22.)

2. You would listen by tuning in at www.radioparagon.com. There are several different applications you can use to listen, listed on the top left of the Home page (i.e. WinAmp, WMP, etc.)

3. If you listened, you would hear mostly Classic Rock, and some mixture of 80s. There is also some modern Rock (such as Godsmack, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, etc.) Because the station just got started, we only have a few DJs; when we get more, there will possibly be different genres played.

4. There is more than one radio station for CoH because some are server-based, and others (like us) are Paragon-based. That means we try to cover different events and such from all servers instead of just focusing on one.

5. If you decided to listen to a radio station while playing CoH, Radio Paragon offers not only super fun DJs (and that list is still growing!..) but also an automated request system on the website which allows you to make requests any time you want, whether a DJ is broadcasting or not. Obviously since we just started, the music library is still growing; you are welcome to post on the forums on the website and request a song, and the DJ will do what they can to get it for you!

I guess that's it! Hopefully I answered your questions to your liking. Please feel free to visit www.radioparagon.com to check out the site if you have more questions!
We also have an in-game channel "Radio Paragon" that you can join and ask questions or make requests! We look forward to meeting you, and we hope to see you on the Freedom server on New Year's Eve! )

Please feel free to send me an in-game email or a tell to @Stefie if you need any more help.

Speaking of Internet Radios, YEARS ago I was in Galaxy City (Like maybe in 2004...) and there was an Internet Radio for COH going on? It was like Radio COH or something like that...

I remember the DJ's name was DJ Meowmix and it was a girl I believe.

Anyone remember that? Or know what it is?

There's also the Cape Radio and their New Years show.

http://www.thecaperadio.com/

They're the oldest I think, running continually since like, the first month CoH launched?

They've got like 30 DJs at this point so its pretty much always doing live shows whenever you look.

The thing is, they're exclusively the Virtue server.

Exactly! Radio Paragon is more focused on hosting events for ALL servers! Freedom Server was chosen for tonight's party to give those not on Virtue an opportunity for some fun, too! We only WISH we could be on every server at the same time!

I didn't know what internet radio was until I played this game and it wasn't even right away. I started playing in march of 2007 and probably didn't find out about internet radio until a year or a year and a half later and didn't know how to listen to it and what not, so yeah there could be people who don't know what it is.
