Discussion: The Winter Event is back with extra fluffy snow!

Recently received a reply from an official source saying that the developers said that it is currently working as designed. I've been here since the 2nd Anniversary. Every Winter Event since then until last year, all my characters received the Holiday Cheer, whether they had gotten one previously or not. To say that it is working as designed after all this time beyond contemptible. I guess that anything old that gets bugged or has never worked the way it should is now going to be referred to as "working as designed" in order to free up developer time to work on new stuff that doesn't work.
I complained a lot about this last year. My characters that were new for the year got them but not my older ones even though I distinctly remembered getting them in previous years (I had characters with Holiday Spirit still running and another one in the power's list ready to click on when that one ran out).
I haven't logged into any of my 3 "new" characters for this year to see if anyone is getting them but I was very disappointed to see that my older characters didn't get them again this year. Using the Holiday Cheer power was so cool and I don't know why that can't be fixed. |
Having received the Holiday Cheer every year for all this time built up expectations for myself and my wife. Giving those gifts to each other was the best thing about the event for us. I doubt we'll even log on during the event any more if this is the way it's going to be left. So, in our absence, please feel free to enjoy your new content until it gets bugged to the point that it is considered too old to fix.
Chained Bulldog level 33 Stalker on Liberty
Cobalt Blue Knight level 32 Scrapper on Guardian
Drone Keeper level 32 MM on Champion
Glacier Force level 28 Tanker on Justice
and 7 nearly full servers of alts waiting their turns.

I share that sentiment... I used to take characters who I didn't play much and log on to give the Holiday Cheer present to newbies in the starting zones. When I filed a petition about this problem this year, I got the same response: that you are only supposed to only receive them free once per character ever and then use Candy Canes to purchase "similar powers" (as it was stated in the petition reply e-mail).

This really saddens me that they now consider this a "working as intended" feature... it makes me not want to really log in during the Winter Event because I can't bring said "Holiday Cheer" without having to grind Candy Canes on each of these characters to do so. It's like they went from Bob Cratchett to Ebenezer Scrooge.
I would like an official redname response on this matter, someone who actually works on the code and they should give an explanation as to why suddenly characters who used to get these powers every year but now do not; is it a bug or a deliberate change to the code?

How interesting. I've never gotten the Holiday Cheer power more than once on any character, and I've been here the same length of time. I've even tried making sure I deleted the stupid debt protection power to see if I had to get rid of both to get both re-granted. No dice.

Guys, for next year, would you PLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASE reduce Toy Collector to 100 (or even 50!) Presents? 200 is simply not fun. It's a pointless and excessive grind that takes any fun out of getting them. Even 50 with the ridiculous lopsided Naughty->Nice ratio would still allow a person to get Cold Warrior.
The Holiday Spirit temporary power. Use Holiday Spirit to grant 48 hours of 25% Experience Debt Protection.
The Holiday Cheer temporary power. Use Holiday Cheer on another character to give his or her a Mystery Gift that could contain a rare temporary power, a sack full of Influence or Infamy, or a winter-
