New Blaster- What to Make?

Im looking to build a new blaster and my 2 options are dark/fire or fire/psi.

I want to have good single target and AoE damage as well as good survivability. Here are the build I came up with, which do you reckon would do the job best?

I have been thinking of doing a new toon myself lately. I was thinking dark/psi (3 cone attacks by lvl 12) or dark/ice (more survivability).

If you're only considering those two options, do fire/mm. Dark/fire I have my doubts in terms of synergy.

I'm liking dark/psi and dark/ice because of the cone chains you can put together. Umbra Torrent -> tentacles -> shiver/psy scream.

You knock them on their butts, delaying alpha strike, while debuffing them.
You immobilize them so they stay away from you while further debuffing you.
They now attack you while being debuffed by 10.5-16% Likely missing mostly.
You lower their recharge so they can attack you as often (after they use up their range attacks)
Repeat process.

I worry about the scatter, but for the most part you gotta like the AoE chain that keeps you safe. Umbral Torrent's 80 ft range is gorgeous. Its fast cast time and quick recharge is very nice. Plus you get mitigation with kb and survivability with tohit debuffs. I'm loving dark lately because of this power (life drain too, no more need for aid self), but fire doesn't seem like the right secondary. It wants to be in pbaoe while dark wants to be at range with its cones.

Secondaries I like with dark blast: energy (boost range and power boost), mental, ice, devices

Radiation / MM

-Powerful devastating AoE attack chains.
-Extremely effective at low levels where defense debuffs matter more.
-Complimentary damage types, the things that are resistant to psy are almost always weak to energy (robots).
-Pbaoe centric, I'm not sure if you hate being in melee, but it's nice because right after you use Drain Psyche you are already in position to deal your best damage.
-You can farm with it (anything with drain psyche is survivable enough) but that doesn't really matter.

If you want a Rad/ blaster this is the primary that I'd recommend that you pair with /Fire. A Rad/Fire is a PBAoE monster.

I would lean against Dark/Fire or /Mental, since both of those secondaries appreciate being in melee, and the delicious cones of Dark/ prefer you remain out of melee for max coverage.

Actually, /Mental works fairly well from cone range if you skip Psychic Shockwave and just use Psychic Scream and occasionally move in for a quick Drain Psyche. /Mental has the only cone in a secondary so it's worth taking just for that if you are already cone heavy, kind of like taking /Energy just for Boost Range if you want a long range build.

What I usually do on my AR/Mental is jump in a group before the rest of my team, hit Drain Psyche to soak the alpha, fire off PSW, then jump to the other side of the group to start rolling AR's slew of cones, all in one quick gesture at the beginning of the fight. Most things will end up dead. With some S/L defense, I'm rarely hit when I'm in the middle of the mob, and that + DP wil make sure I survive when I'm at range with my cones. I imagine Dark/Mental would be similar.

Yeppers, plus Dark Blast has Life Drain and -tohit to add even more to the survivability.

Hello , well i made a new blaster myself. i went with Energy/Energy, the knockback keeps even the troller types under my thumb. but then this is a Solo toon.

I have run the fire/psi it is very powerful, and in time it will turn into a AoE moster, but as always remember a blaster fallows the tank and scrappers in to the pool.
