Some concepty help for a furture TW/???
I think WP is going to be the most common pairing - double stamina for an end heavy set and all the KD helping you regenerate. Plus some people thinking they can't lose momentum or the world will fall apart, so they're likely to choose a passive secondary.
I'm going Regen (Brute) because I like active secondaries and have done /Dark, /Elec and /Fire (also a fan of damage auras but I can live without one for a change).
EA looks good for concept, I like EA's FX a lot too. As you probably know the +def power only enhances melee/smashing so you may consider that at least while leveling.
Maybe Invul is something that could fit your concept? Except for agility which you can compensate via IOs, I think it'd be a great pairing.
I'd vote for /EA. The defense and +rech from /EA will fit your theme.
I was holding off on rerolling my BS/Inv to BS/EA but now I just may wait to make it TW/EA. He's a homage character to Koinzell, the main character in the manga Ubel Blatt. BS/ fits his normal sword better but TW/ really fits his huge swords.

I'm actually going Regen as well I think, and it would fit your concept since you could use the +melee from Titan Weapons to stack with set bonuses and give you the agility feel. It would lack any mechanical representation for time manipulation though.
EA would fit best probably, with +Recharge for the time manipulation concept and defense for agility (Who says those glowing pulses around you have to deflect things? Maybe that's your time manipulation allowing you to dodge and creating a glowing pulse as a side effect.) and the self heal could be a Reconstruction-style regeneration ability.

I think your concept leaves enough play that you could justify most anything. Sorry if this is toe stepping but just a few examples.
Invul: Both defense and resistance could be seen as time manipulation or agility. Think of it this way. Defense is obvious your character possesses either precognitive or time slow/acceleration abilities enough that they can dodge quite a few attacks. But even your mighty guy/gal can’t fully dodge all attacks. Like a skilled fighter he/she can make sure the blows that slip through land in non-vital spots or merely glance their flesh, hence resistance. Perhaps as your character is surrounded they become more focused, or the time streams of all those people closer together makes it easier to affect the attacks of those around. When she takes a hit she can focus back to the time where she was at her peak and regenerate her wounds and be sturdier, ala defender’s time. Finally if she’s willing to take a great risk she can desync herself from the current time stream for a short time and be nigh untouchable, unfortunately when she exhausts herself her body resyncs and some of the damage returns.
I’m sure you can fill in the powers.
Elec: Again here think of resistance as glancing blows. Think of the electric armors as active manipulation of the time field around your character. You can’t force blows to miss but you can slow them enough and with your agility can force them to not cause any real damage.Lightning field is a degenerative aging effect or forcing the characters to their weakened state. Recharge buff is obvious. Self heal, see invul but you focus on refreshing your strength rather than reaching its peak. Tier 9 is similar with the added bonus that you definitely appear de-synced.
Whatever you decide I think you can find a way to pick an idea you like and a set you like and make them fit comfortably without having to play something you’re not looking forward to.
So here I am...wondering which secondary fits my concept best...
Genetically created, enhanced physical attributes (not so much on the strength) with the concentration being on Regeneration, Stamina, and Agility. Then comes the unknown x-factor of Time Manipulation...which basically goes a long with enhancing those abilities, as they're very much self focused on herself,... Or should I go with EA or stick with WP? |
I think WP & EA are your best options thematically and mechanically.
I think in particular your desired concept of:
- Enhanced regeneration
- Enhanced Agility
- Stamina
- Time manipulation
In particular EA gives you some nice options.
You can have enhanced regen & stamina through Energize, Enhanced Agility (defense toggles), Time Manipulation through other EA abilities (toggles to reflect "seeing a few seconds into the future", or "blinking" intermittently back and forth through the immediate present and a few moments into the future", you could be warping spacial/time fields around yourself with Energy Absorption or warping time in a localized fashion to provide stealth).
It even has a personal +recharge ability which matches up nicely with Chronoshift.
When I was reading through your concepts, EA is what came to my mind right away. It's even stealthy for more ninja feel.
I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.
So here I am...wondering which secondary fits my concept best. Now, I've been using /WP for it for a long time, just not sure if it's the one I prefere for the concept.
Truthfully, Ninja likely is out of all secondaries, but you know, not an option (yet!)
Genetically created, enhanced physical attributes (not so much on the strength) with the concentration being on Regeneration, Stamina, and Agility.
Then comes the unknown x-factor of Time Manipulation...which basically goes a long with enhancing those abilities, as they're very much self focused on herself, and not so much on, well, acting like the current Time Manipulation set of being able to effect others (it's a sub conscience thing on her part).
Now positional defenses really do make the feel of agility. But it's really not an option outside of SR, but SR loses any of the Regen feel.
Could IO SR for as much Regen as possible, or IO Regen for as much positional defense as possible.
Or should I go with EA or stick with WP?
This is all from a concept PoV. Not one of min/max, as I can always do that with IO set bonuses to a point anyways, no matter the concept.
So I'd just like some opinions
