Why do I always become the leader during itrial zoning?

Almost every time I do an iTrial, once we zone I am the leader even when I didn't form it. Is this something I am doing, the speed of my computer, what? Anyone know?

If you join using the LFG queue it can randomly assign it to you when it creates the teams. Not really sure why it does it. I've had it make me the league leader that way.

I have never used the LFG, ever. It just happens when the league zones in.

I have heard, though have not confirmed, that when the game reshuffles leadership this way it assigns leadership to the first person zoned in. So if you have a particularly fast load time, say a solid state drive or high end hard drive, you might be getting it a lot.

This would make sense. I tend to be the first one in the zone every time.

If the leader sets the event to closed, everyone gets scrambled every time, and the fastest zoning character gets the league star. The first few people to zone in will end up on teams together, but then subsequent people end up each on their own team. There is some evidence that if someone ends up loading in after all six league team slots are full like this, they will be kicked from the league.

Because of this, I never lock leagues any more unless I know they are small enough not to lose people, even if I am trying something I don't want random folks to join, like a private badge run.

If the leader sets the event to open, the teams are usually preserved, and the scrambling of players into random (and some 1-person) teams never seems to happen. However, which team leader has the league star will still sometimes change. This does not seem to always happen, even if a given team leader zones much faster than the original league leader.

You ARE using the LFG tool. You might be in a pre-formed league, but to access any of the iTrials you use the LFG Turnstile.

Yes, I guess technically this is true. I guess I was referring to the intention of the comment about joining onto a league through the LFG

Happens to me a lot as well.

Its just zoning speed, which is largely (I believe) a memory and connection thing.

I can confirm this with a little bit of empirical evidence:

Back before I got my new gaming computer I basically never zoned in quickly enough to "accidentally" get the league star. But since I got my new fairly-cutting edge machine a few months ago I now manage to get the star as I zone in like that maybe every third trial I do now. I think I can deal with that mild annoyance as a consequence of enjoying my new computer.

Ha! Thanks. I am not annoyed, though, just was curious. I find it funny.

I never set trials I form to closed and have had periods where every trial I lose the league star, and periods where I never lose it. My computer is older so I'm usually middle to last to zone.

Like I said in the rest of the post, open leagues still sometimes scramble which team leader ends up with the league star, but the teams themselves never seem to be internally scrambled the way closed leagues end up.
