Best way to spend 1 Hero merit?

I'm killing one of my characters to free up his name but he's got 1 hero merit. What's the best way to spend that? LotG +rech costs 2 so I'm tempted to try to roll something good. I guess some extra cash wouldn't hurt, but I also wouldn't mind an IO that fits every build no matter what the AT is.

Any advice?

I random roll every hero/villain merit. On the average I gain more infl per roll than I would if I saved up to buy LotGs or such.

There's a couple of the Kinetic Combat IO's that cost 1 merit and are selling in the 60-90 million range... or were a few days ago anyway. That may be a good option and it'll end up roughly the same as simply buying a level 25 LotG def/+7.5% recharge... Those have been hovering between 100-150 million for some time now.

Of course by random rolling you could come out well ahead, or you could roll up 5 pieces of vendor bait... I've rolled 2 LotG 7.5%, 1 Miracle unique, 1 Numina unique and an Obliteration quad in one roll before. Of course I've also rolled up a Perplex, Trap of the Hunter, Impeded Swiftness and a couple others that slip my mind... nothing in that entire roll had a market value over 5k and most was going for under 1k.

As the saying goes ya pays your money and ya takes your chances. In the long term it'll probably come close to evening out but any given roll you may make several hundred million or you may make several hundred... period. Generally I use A Merits for IO's that are unreasonably expensive that my alts need in their builds.

I'd run a SSA on him to get a second merit.

As others have stated, it really depends on how reliable of a return you want,
and how comfortable with the RNG (Random Number Generator) you are.

There are a number of 1-merit IO's that you could get, Kin Combat, Perf Shifter,
many of the non-proc IO's, etc. that reliably sell for 20M-90M.

Personally, that is the route I usually take if I have an oddball/excess merit.

If you like to gamble, or won't burst a blood vessel if you get a crappy roll
you can, potentially, make more inf on a random roll if RNG is kind to you, and
you don't mind the extra effort possibly of crafting some of what you get.

Of course, with the random roll, your odds of making out like a bandit are lower
(there are more mediocre and junk recipes than there are awesome ones),
but some folks enjoy the thrill of "rolling the dice", and generally speaking,
you'll usually do ok - based on some informal marketeering research made
in the past when this stuff was new.

The Best Use of a merit is ultimately the one you'll be happiest to live with if
it isn't the maximum possible return.

Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance - Level 21. Cost is 1 alignment merit. You should be able to get around 150,000,000 to 200,000,000 for it.

That is for a crafted one, instead of the raw recipe.
