SO I'm back again after RL work stuff ate up a lot of time and I'm again looking at my SS/WP brute. But the last time I was looking at it was before incarnate and inherent fitness and it seems that SS/WP is no longer the flavour of the month brute, there are not many threads about them.

It was the case that there was argument about whether to slot for Regen or Def or Rech. Did that argument ever get resolved? Also I'd like to get into farming with it to start getting some of the rare recipes for other toons.

I'll start working on a biuld to post this weekend, I'm just looking to see if the rech/def/regen thing has changed.

Slot for defence & recharge. Regen bonuses are trivial through sets tbh :/

Aiming for 32.5% defence to smashing & lethal (one purple from the soft cap) should give you plenty of opportunity to load up on recharge. With careful slotting I could see you getting perma haste without too great a difficulty.

I don't know what others are doing (Edit: except Bunny), but with Willpower I usually go for a mix. My WP/SS Tanker build in Mids, which I may apply to a Brute sometime, is 45% S/L Defense, 75% S/L Resistance, and 100 HP/sec Regen. I only worried about recharge enough to get perma-Rage.

Not happening on a Brute outside of SoW.

Recharge on a SS/WP is definitely not worth it...if you have to give up defense.

As has been said...only shoot for enough recharge to make Rage perma.

Like I said, that's a Tanker build which I haven't tried on a Brute yet.

Here's mine. It is much more focused on single target damage, as I tend to prefer to build my characters towards being able to solo Arch-Villains. I tend to think Foot-Stomp takes care of most your AOE needs, especially when it's coming back so quickly, but if you're interested in farming you might prefer a build with a few more AOE attacks in it.

It has nearly soft-capped defense to S/L, with Rise to the Challenge's To-Hit debuff covering the rest. Darkest Night is there to fight Arch Villains, combat against cascading defense failure, or to just help keep your team alive. Darkest Night debuffs enemies To-Hit by about 16% and their damage by about 21%. The To-Hit portion of the debuffs will not work as great against Arch-Villains, but the damage debuff is always in full effect, which gives this build a theoretical S/L Resistance of about 70.5%.

You want more recharge for your attacks to recharge faster. Having Footstomp recharging as fast as possible as well as having an actual ST attack chain requires more recharge than it takes for perma-rage (which as said, requires pretty much nothing). Your focus on recharge should be for your Gloom>Haymaker>KOB>Gloom>Haymaker>Punch(since you dont have burn) attack chain, and I'm sure someone out there can give you the necessary recharge to use such an attack chain. So yes, only going for enough recharge to get rage perma is bad, it's not the power that you should be looking at for recharge levels.

You can also give up way too much if you only slot for recharge.

You're not hitting the s/l defense softcap if you're doing nothing but slotting for recharge.

Also...the OP is not even using the Dark Mastery pool.

Who said you couldn't have both? It's not hard to make a WP build that has softcapped S/L def that also has 80%+ rchg

In this particular build I have two Membranes in Rage. The LotGs that make up the rest also contribute to my Defense, HP and Regen.

Pretty much this. I messed around with a build for curiosity's sake. Managed 75% global recharge, softcapped S/L defense, 35% defense to everything else but psi and just under 2700 HP.

I'd love to post my SS/WP Brute build, unfortunately when My computer exploded about a month ago I hadn't actually backed up any of my Mids files. So I'm pretty much starting from scratch on most builds and havn't been able to play ingame at all for awhile now. Hopefully that'll change by Christmas. I'll see what I can do about rebuilding my past version of the build from memory and get it up here for an alternate perspective.

I think in rough terms 3k hp, 50ish% recharge, 800% regen w/ 1 tick of RttC and softcap'd S/L was where my build was at in mids.

Threw this together from memory of my lost build, it could probably use some tweeks but it's just something thrown together in 10 mins to offer my thoughts on how to build it.

I apologize my numbers from my previous post were slightly off. A bit more recharge and a bit less HP than I thought. And only 741% Regen w/ 1 tick of RttC Although if you wanted to hit 3k hp you could easily do so but that'd most likely sacrifice some defense and recharge.

Not quite as offensive as some might like, I'd say it more leaning towards survivable than damage. Still not horrible if you think about the tank alternative.

It's a Soul Mastery build, but you can change stuff around with different epic pools for similar results.

Here it is, I'm sure it can be tweaked, I just put it together really quick last night. It actually has over 2700 HP with spiritual radial. I usually never take Taunt on Brutes, but did because RttC is weak.
