New Dominator set - Your Ideas!

I not long ago posted a thread regarding information, which may or may not be right, about a new possible dominator set - Autumnal Control/Assault.

Alot of debate surrounding this mystery and it may well not be a new set.

But i speak to alot of players who enjoy doms and often give their verdicts on what changes should be made and what power sets we should get.

And lets be entirely honest doms have been on the backburner for alot longer than anticipated.

Even though i personally enjoy a vast majority of AT's and sets i would like to see dominators get something new and shiny, rather than a port over.

With that said i will settle for a port aswell because dominators need something and anything is better than nothing.

So my question is what would you, the players, like to see in the dominators already fun and intuitive plethora of powers?

share your ideas or premonitions and have YOUR say, it would be very interesting and im curious to see what the playerbase thinks and comes up with.

Dark Control/Dark Assault (Really I can't see how this wasn't included with CoV launch. I mean the Dominator signature villain is GHOST WIDOW* of all things, and they're the only(non-epic) Villain archetype without Dark powers.)

Some kind of Natural/Tech Gadgety control and weapon based assault sets (Long past due for the non-powered character concepts.)

Some kind of Energy (not electric) based Control set.





*Honestly I'm still a little miffed about what Ghostwidow's powers actually are. She's not even really a dominator, she's a dark/dark corruptor with a Signature power that happens to be a control. But I digress.

I would like to believe that Pistols/Sword or Pistols/Martial Arts sets would go to Dominators for an Assault set but they'd probably go to Scrappers, Brutes and Tankers.

i think autumnal control/assault is unlikely given we already have fire and ice themed control sets and autumnal control is essentially the same just mixing the dmg types together

also sorceress serene actually only has 4 autumnal themed powers out of the 8 or 9 powers she has

the autumnal powers she has are a hold, 2 melee attacks, and a passive +resist, all of her other powers are just generic powers from ice and fire blast sets

a fair and valid point Necrotech.

I just want doms to have a new set, i have been informed by someone just now that a new powerset has been scheduled to be released by december/january time.

Still not sure which set though.

its most likely titan weapons, if not titan weapons then staff melee (since thats the one thats been leaked a little because we can type in game the different powers)

that doesnt mean i wouldnt like to see a new set on doms though, illusion is the #1 choice i would have for doms lol

My ideal new Control set:

Gadget Controls: Grenades, Taser, Bean Bag Rounds and Bombs/Traps with cool "random" effects.

Realistically, we'll probably see a modified form of Illusion Control.

My ideal new Assault set:

Martial/Street Justice mix with throwing stars. I love throwing stars!

Realistically, it's gotta be Whip Assault.


What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

either an illusion/dark kind of mix or even a dark port from dark miasma but with added controls and maybe a dark servant duo like one debuffs and the other does damage.

darkest night will have to be included, maybe a dark terror like spectral terror, and dark minions possibly.

it will definitly be overpowered lol.

gadget sounds pretty good, maybe web area grenade for multiple immob, could definitly port alot if not all powers from traps and devices.

martial arts sounds good, blasters get alot of melee on secondary so dont see why not on a dom since half the assault sets do have melee.

Storm Assault
Strong Gust, minor smashing damage, knockback ranged small AoE attack
Lightning Bolt, moderate energy damage, knockdown, chance for stun ranged attack (a proper lightning bolt from the sky), marks enemy with a charge
High Bolt, high energy damage, knockup melee attack (pop enemy up with air, lightning strike in mid-air), marks enemy with a charge
Power Boost
Twister, moderate smashing damage, knockup PBAoE melee attack
Eye of the Storm, PBAoE -speed -recharge toggle, small chance to strike enemies with lightning for moderate energy damage, enemies struck by lightning ae marked with a charge
Direct Current, high energy damage, hold, chance for fire DoT melee attack (hold one arm up, hold other out at enemy, lightning bolt hits the raised arm and channels the energy into the other arm and into the enemy)
Thunderous Boom, minor energy damage, chance for stun PBAoE attack, enemies marked with a charge will be feared
Second Strike, all enemies within range who are marked with a charge will be struck by a moderate energy damage bolt of lightning and knocked down, the charge will be consumed

Illsuion Control - Edited with Domination in mind
Spectral Wounds
Blind
Deceive
Flash: Increase radius or base tohit to make up for it being PBAoE and not targetted
Superior Invisibility
Instill Fear: Cast on an ally, releases a large PBAoE fear and immobilize on enemies near them as you make your ally too scary for your foes to fight
Phantom Army
Instill Hate: Targetted AoE confuse and taunt. Cast on an enemy and they all become confused, all enemies around your target are taunted to attack the original target as they have been shown their own personal enemy.
Phantasm

Doubt whips/chains will be coming as a set, as apparently in the time it took to animate just the Demons whip attacks, they could have animated an entire other powerset.


I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender
Sometimes all at once.
Union EU player! Pip pip, tally ho, top hats and tea etc etc

Dark and rad are likely candidates for secondaries, though they'd have to make a melee attack for rad.

I've recently been enjoying Time Manipulation on my corruptor. I love the way that enemies freeze when I use the single-target hold. I'm thinking that a similarly-themed Time Control set for doms could be interesting.

Shivans actually have rad melee attacks, so it shouldn't be that big of a hurdle.

That... doesn't really matter. It'd still need all new animations for players, and they'd have to completely change them for players.

I was thinking, I checked Paragon Wiki, and I don't think Controllers get /Traps.

I'm thinking that it might be cooler if, instead of doing a flat power proliferation, they change some powers, replace some, and bring up a whole Device Control set

You could pair it up with a good Munitions Assault, there are enough PC attacks to fully build that one without having to create any new powers (though they'd still have to be tweaked) It'd be kind of like the Arachnos Soldier attack set

For example,

Burst
Pummel
Slug
M30 Grenade
Aim
Heavy Burst
Bayonet
Sniper Rifle
Full Auto

It's not like it needs to be a brand new, awesome animation. Give it the Air Superiority animation and a particle effect. BAM! It's done. Don't like that? Then there are plenty of other melee attacks that could have the rad particle effect attached to them.

A Munitions assault set, though not my cup of tea, could probably be easily pulled off. I'd love to see a Whip assault, but I doubt that's in the cards.
