Anyone use this app? I've downloaded a couple free comics and it's a pretty neat app. However, I wasn't sure about buying anything until I got some opinions on them.

I have it on my iPod, I like it. Just wish there was an option to turn off Guided View. With that said, I like Guided View but sometimes I don't want to use it.

That's good. I appreciate the responses, I just didn't want to go using something that doesn't exactly have a good reputation.

Hadn't read comics in YEARS (decades?) but decided to pick up the DC52 stuff. Did so via comixology...

Overall I really like it. I definitely recommend it. However, in the spirit of full disclosure, I will say there have been a few times where a purchased comic would not download. I've had this problem on maybe 3 or 4 occasions so far. For the two times it was a DC book, I was able to download the issue the next day without problems. Once it was a independant comic and it took 2 or 3 days before I was able to download it... The latest time it is 3 Marvel titles. I picked up the Necrosha X-Men story arc on Marvel 99cent Mondays... It's been two weeks now (well, will be tomorrow) and those 3 issues in the middle of the story arc still will not download.

I contacted customer support, etc etc... And I must say that I feel they could have been more helpful. Just blaming the problem on someone else is not good customer service. Telling someone to contact Apple when a refund is requested but not telling them how or where is not good customer service. *sigh*

Still... The world is not perfect and overall I love reading the comics on my iPad and I love the convienence of it. So I still recommend it, just not without full disclosure

Umm, you can!

Oops, you said iPod, not iPad. Ok, well... nevermind?

If you cannot turn it off on the iPod my guess would be that they just figure that seeing the whole page on it just makes everything way too small or somesuch? Weird.

I've been using the web version for a while now. It's been a good service that's improved over time (mainly in better selection of back issues). The only downside would be that obviously Comixology comics don't have much collector value.

I got it when Marvel jumped on board. Had to updated my account at Marvel to download comics though.

I love it, specially on an iPad if you have one (I cant tolerate it in the iPhone.)

It's great, my only grudge is with pricing. A 10-20 year old comic book with a so-so story should be worth 99c tops, not 1.99 - 2.99.

Now that DC has decided to go digital on day one with all their reboot titles, its even better. Hopefully their success will get the other big 3 publishers, plus indies, to follow suit.

Edit to add:

A few minor grudges I have with their service (not sure if this was changed) but you cant "store" the downloaded comics. You basically download them and read them in the device, but you cant copy them out to an outside source as you would with downloaded MP3s.

Normally this is not an issue, and so far I dont think my fear has happened, but should you have paid for a comic and the publisher decides to pull it out, then you may never be able to re-download it again (should exist until you delete it from the local device.)

This can complicate with a recent iOS 5 policy that the OS will automaticaly purge re-downloadable files off apps should it ever feel it is running out of disk drive.

For some it may not be a big issue, since sometimes you just want to read the thing once and thats it, but then we would go round circle to the price. Titles are not priced at disposable price points.

Under settings there are options to show the whole page on Enter (when I enter a new page) or on Exit (shows the whole page after the last panel). I have it set to On Exit, and I can read whole page with out zooming. It's a bit difficult, I just like the option of pinching to zoom and moving freely on a page.

Besides, I've only purchased 2 books so far on it (only had the ipod for about 3 weeks). The Walking Dead Volumes 2 and 3. I have a physical copy of volume 1...
