A New VIP's Review of city of Heroes: Freedom - One Month On.

So, a little over a month has passed since I first donned a mask and cape and set out on to the streets of Paragon City to fight the forces of Evil(and wrote my original review of CoH:F.

In my month here I have made reasonable progress (main character is 45, 13 others ranging from 30 to 12, can't wait to see what the fuss is about over incarnate skills at 50 )

I am well and truly in love with Paragon City, the storylines are immersive and absorbing, the missions never seem dull when you have a good team, the virtually infinite costume customisation combinations (alliteration FTW) and the costume creator itself are absolutely amazing.
CoH is graphically stunning, too (I play on fully maxed ultra mode) and I still wonder just how much time went in to those cape physics.
Another thing I adore about CoH is the villains, because they are people you can truly hate. The Circle of Thorns with their evil sacrificial rituals, the Vazhilok with their experiments on the dead, I hate them all so much I always feel pleased whenever I beat them down.
Almost important as the game itself are the people running it, and I have to say after having a GM come in to the game and talk me through issues on several occasions, seeing the brilliant level of community interaction and enjoying the events run by the GM's has made me a devout NC Soft fanboy.
The community itself (except for a select few on the forums >.> ) is brilliant, friendly, helpful and one of the best MMO communities I have ever had the pleasure to be a part of.

All in all, I regret not a single moment of my time spent here and I am proud to be a hero of Paragon City

Thought I'd make this one short and sweet rather than longer like my original.

I left the game in 2009 to AE broadcast spam looking for farms. I came back to endless Sewer Trial in Help channel. The content added makes up for it though, Incarnate trials are very fun, despite the 'raid objective' windows being so clunky and overflowingly large..

You know, it some times takes fresh eyes to make jaded vets like us remember just how good we have it. Thanks for the review.

The raid objective window can be minimized by clicking the triangle, just in case you didn't know.

Even then I've found it to be really quite large for some objectives.

Same. It's got relevant info, but it could be presented in a better way.

A lot of the City of Heroes villains are actually more tragic than reprehensible. The Circle of Thorns, in particular, are transformed into what they are less out of malice and more because of fear, desperation and the monstrous tragedy that destroyed their people. Personally, I find this to be one of the few games that can (or at least could) strike a good balance between tragic and reprehensible villains, making you want to understand your enemies, but never really making not want to stop them. In newer content, the onus is more on hating everybody than understanding everybody like it used to be, but the point stands.

Not that I disagree with you, mind you. It's just something I wanted to say
