So. Rib Cracker is the power that Stalkers lose within the Street Justice set. How good is it, exactly, and how much will it's lack annoy me and gimp my possible next stalker?

I didnt notice it was gone...to tell you the truth

Playing a Stalker though is different then playing a Scrapper, or Brute or Tank.

So i guess for me it wasnt a very big issue at all...

For me Stalker Play is more about prescision and choosing your targets so that i dont waste energy and time with non-essentials.

So the missing power really didnt matter much......i was still annihilating the targets i needed to.....and onthe beta....i admit it...i also had to run away in one place...becaseu the crazy spawns showed up faster then i could kill things.
But i think that was due to lag alot....as i found my self standing there with an attack qued and waiting for it to go off.

By the way...dont know if i made htis clear on this forum or onthe beta...but lag really hurts the street justice set's combo build up.

You don't get to knee people to the groin!

Plus, it's -resistance and a combo builder. But really, it's all about the animations in that set: otherwise you'd go with Super Strength or Martial Arts.

In my opinion it doesn't. The fact you have Assassin's Strike more than makes up for the not having that ability.

Current active characters: Dragon Maiden (50+3 Brute SS/WP/PM), Black Widow Maiden (50+1 Night Widow), Catayclasmic Ariel (50 lvl Defender - Kin/DP), Quantumshock (50 lvl Elect/Energy/Energy), American's Defender (38 lvl Tanker - SD/Mace), Spider-Maiden (15 lvl Corruptor - RB/PD) & Siren Shrike (15 lvl Defender - Sonic/Sonic). My entire stable.

It makes the stalker set into a "take 9", you lose the sick animation, you lose the debuff, and using AS in your attack chain gimps your DPS.

When something good happens to me, I can never enjoy it....
I am always too busy looking for the inevitable punchline...

If you use it without placate, sure. But as first strike then use everything else but that, no. Heck, I'll use it as a finishing move after using placate when I'm down to my last foe. Hasn't failed me yet. Moreover, I don't expect it will with how I employ my attacks.

The main problem for me is that like other primaries (Energy Melee) if you skip the tier 1 or 2 attack (like I usually do on Stalkers) you'll have to wait till level 26 to have a decent ST attack chain, on most other sets it's level 18.

Rib Cracker is a normal attack in dmg/end/rech formula, it also does -7.5% res and -11.3% dmg. On a Scrapper I'd get it so I could skip one of the first two punches and have Rib Cracker (so, 3 attacks) at level 8.

I personally felt that it should've replaced "generic attack #2" - which relates to my feelings on Heavy Blow - as the tier 2. They're both combo builders, a 30% chance for KD is "blech", and a -resistance debuff (that's built into the power and not an IO proc) is unique among melee sets. There are also many precedents for Stalkers having their power order shuffled around.

[edit: I finally got around to logging on to beta to get the numbers again; Heavy Blow is better DPA than Rib Cracker and the debuff, while easy to keep up permanently, is only 5 seconds. I still like the animation for Rib Cracker a lot better and the -resistance will help make up the DPA difference... particularly if it was right before a level 3 CU crit! ]

Plus, it's pretty stalkery/critical level damage to Knee someone in the Groin/Abdomen.

Wow. Yes, that would be a nice thing indeed. Replace Heavy Blow with Rib Cracker. Yes, please.

Haven't posted in a while.

Yup, it's sad that the dev couldn't add Rib Cracker. It's just too late in the development by the time some of us voiced our concerns.

Rib Cracker has AWESOME animation and it has two debuffs. The debuffs are not huge but most debuffs stack in this game so every little bit helps.

Stalker really doesn't need 2nd tier attack. That heavy blow looks boring.

What the dev may do in the future is to make Shin Breaker hit a bit harder but we'll see. Street Justice is one of the reasons why I participated in beta for the very first time but unfortunately, nothing was really changed/updated for Stalker Street Justice. I didn't play all the way to 50. I've only tested early levels. The good news is Stalker's version doesn't lose any aoe attack (even though the aoe has small radius).

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Yeah, StJ seems to work the best on stalkers if you don't mind respec'ing a couple of times before 30. Since I have more respec's than sense, it's working out pretty good for me so far.

As for Rib Cracker... I kinda miss it. I like the animation on Rib Cracker better than Shin Breaker. But other than that it doesn't seem like a crippling loss.
