VIP but some characters still locked...?!

Weird situation:

I haven't played in 2 years, logged in as Premium and used all my server character unlocks, plus one global. Popped into the game last night, today I decided to upgrade to VIP.

I immediately gained access to the forums, in-game support, and the Going Rogue power sets (I didn't have GR previously). However, my old characters on all the servers are unlocked except for on my main server. The characters I didn't unlock with tokens, or whatever they're called, are still locked!

What's up with that??

I re-started the NCSoft Launcher, and the game, but nothing works.

I would suggest logging it with support, it might just be a delay on the account server or it could be a bug.

Just out of curiosity, which server had the characters locked?

I've seen a few people having the same issue and the locked characters are on Justice.

Also, on the login screen down near the bottom, check the box to Link to Existing Account or however it's worded and see if that helps.

Very possible. At this point, it seems like /petition is going to be the best way in-game to deal with this. Give them as much info as possible.

You may want to go to the support site at https://support.cityofheroes.com and file a ticket since it allows more text input. Describe in detail what happened, what characters are locked and on what server and as much information as possible to keep from having it go back and forth too much.

If they just aren't getting it and understanding the actual problems after all of the description, ask that it be escalated to a senior GM.

I'm fighting with a similar problem right now.

My auto-billing seems to have been disabled without any kind of email notification, and I found myself staring at the free to play character unlock window when trying to switch characters.

I am now paid up, and the server I had attempted to log onto during the 45 second window that I was Free to Play insists I must unlock characters, all other servers are perfectly happy to recognize VIP status.

Okay, apparently this is "working as intended"

What I'm seeing here:
When you log into a server when you are not a VIP it will automatically lock every character on that server. If you do not log onto a server it will not check your status, and you characters will not be locked.

When you become a VIP and log back onto the server you are locked out of it will grant you enough unlock tokens to cover all your characters on that server and you need to manually unlock everything.

It's fairly confusing, not very intuitive, and fairly tedious to unlock everything yourself. I don't understand why it doesn't just unlock everything.

That's a chronically bad system. I can't believe that's working as designed, unless the designer is a sadist with a grudge against players.

I could give you the standard reason we use for why we can't do things here in my School District.

Because it makes sense.
